ATWT: Luke/Noah not kissing

I don't so much mind that the summer story was over the top and soapy, just that they haven't had a high stakes story since. I REALLY hope this story with Ameera picks up, because right now it just looks like the show is putting all minorities - gay, Muslim - into one story and then submitting the show for all sorts of inclusion awards.

Not to mention, the coupling of the two characters came out of left field and I *still* don't know why they were ever even drawn to each other in the first place. How did Luke go from being annoyed by Noah one day and then "falling for a straight guy" the next day? It made no sense. And as they got closer and closer, we never ever saw Noah's attraction to Luke build. All we got was a kiss out of nowhere. And then bam, they're a couple, Maddie's out the window, and we're supposed to believe they're the next Jeff and Penny.

Thank you! I thought for sure I was the only person who felt that they had absolutely NO build up whatsoever. It was too out of the blue for me to ever buy them as a couple

A lot of people had the same concerns. To this day we havent gotten an answer to your questions. I still myself dont know why Luke loves Noah and vice versa. I guess we will never know.

I so agree, I feel nothing for Luke and Noah because their pairing came out of thin air. As I said before, it was horribly written from the get-go. I HATED how Luke seemed to fall in "love" with Noah after two days of knowing him. That was really bad, I still have yet to see anything special in Nuke. It really annoyed me that people were making banners of Jake and Van even before Jake premiered on ATWT and pimping them as the next "it couple."

Added to that, I really HATE Jake Simbermann's "acting."

BUT, on the other hand, GLAAD is full of **** is they truly thought that Luke and Noah's initial storyline was thoughtfully written. We endured a summer of homosexual son with a disapproving father in 2006, with Luke and Damian. Why did we need to see the same damn thing with Noah and the Colonel in 2007? Not to mention, the coupling of the two characters came out of left field and I *still* don't know why they were ever even drawn to each other in the first place. After going through the coming out drama with Luke and his family in 2006, the show really did not need to cook up another story just like it, with a cartoonish villain to match it. I actually stand on my feet and commend them for the amazing, incredible twist of having Noah be Cheri's son. But it's a complete and total shame that the show didn't follow through with that. Cheri and Noah could have moved to town together, and with a mother like Cheri, Noah would have been already out of the closet and proud of who he was.

THANK YOU. When Noah said that he was straight, I believed him. I don't know why nobody at ATWT insisted that Jake Silbermann infuse his performances with genuine duality. The attraction was ALL in Luke's mind because it was ALL from his point of view. There was no need to rehash Damian's position through Winston, but the colonel gave Passanante another shot at her fetish for murder mysteries. Since Cheri had to die, I was fine with it. The revelation was poignant and reminded me of Lucinda discovering her relationship to Neal posthumously. But Noah should have had at least one parent who supported and understood his sexuality. Why did the Snyders' discomfort have to be wrapped up in a year anyway? Is this not an ongoing show? Showing up their clan for its underlying biases by comparing them to a progressive family would have been better. GLAAD seems to be concerned with having gays on TV, but instead of counting their numbers perhaps examining their existing inclusion is more important. Over a week after the Valentine's Day debacle, they still haven't issued a statement about Nuke's depiction.

I really am over this Luke/Noah thing. This could have been something great but Passanante screwed it up. At first even though the writing was horrible I was like this could be good but they never got back to this SL. Now I think its just overated............

I know American soaps aren't as socially progressive as their UK counterparts. However, one of the reasons I fell in love with the John Paul and Craig thing on Hollyoaks was because of the build up and the gritty, yet sensitive way they handled the whole thing. Even before those two characters started their physical/sexual affair, they had an emotional affair for months prior to it. There were always singhs that Craig cared for and wanted John Paul (who had come out to Craig and professed his love months before anything happened between the two). They might not have had a "sunset ending" in the end, but as I look back on 2007, McDean (John Paul and Craig's couple name), was my favorite "couple" of 2007 on soaps. Things might not have ended as their fans wanted, but the bumpy and emotional ride of their relationship was some of the best soap opera I've ever watched.

I never had time to care for Luke and Noah and still to this day, I don't get them and the reason they're together.

WORD B)

It really annoyed me that people were making banners of Jake and Van even before Jake premiered on ATWT and pimping them as the next "it couple."

Yeah me too, it kind of turned me off of them. Also I post on the PGP board, and some of the Nuke fans there act like you're a homophobe or something if you don't like Nuke, even though some of us who don't care for them as a couple have given valid reasons for not liking them, so yeah that turned me off of them too.

Added to that, I really HATE Jake Simbermann's "acting."

LOL he reminds me of Brandon Buddy from OLTL most of the time ;)

Best comment ever regarding annoying Luke/Noah! The way some gays, whether covering soaps for a living or just the fans, worship these 2 was so over the top! People just kept pushing and pushing for Luke/Noah despite the bad writing and worse acting of hansis and silbermann!

Do I think the lack of kissing for Nuke is hypocritical? Yes. Even for a secondary couple. I've seen Henry and V practically crawling all over each other anytime they're alone with abandon on several occassions. But I also think Nuke is handled with "kid gloves" in positive ways too. Chances are, you're not going to see them have raging arguments like Jack and Carly, or be unfaithful like the rest of the town.

But other than a few characters (maybe Paul, definitely Katie IMO,) ATWT doesn't show that much sex going on anyway. I could count Willen's sex scenes on one hand (thank God..they're painful...) and I believe Maddie and Casey got TWO.

I agree.

as far as Luke & Noah as a couple, they had buildup. Noah was with maddie, Luke didnt like him because he was attracted to him and that was his bestfriends boyfriend. Then they had to work together. Then Luke felt the attraction from Noah as well and the triangle began. However, it wasnt as great of a story as people make it out to be, and the idea of Nuke is much buigger than nuke is (the same happened for BAM on AMC. They have nowhere to go because all soaps can tell is "love" stories using a third party or the i am dying storyline)

I will say that VH & JS are not the best actors, but they are not as bad as amde out to be. It seems wither people think they are the best or worst. I find them in the middle. I dont care for either one much. I also do not think they are hot together.

I know a lot of people will disagree and flip over this - but letting maddie go and making Noah gay was a huge mistake. They should have kept maddie, made noah bi, and went full on with the first female/male/male love triangle - only problem with that was Nuke had already became bigger than the show itself and AC acted circles around every person under 30 on that show.

I won't flip over that. Part of the problem with Nuke (for me) is how quickly the relationship went from "new guy who confuses and annoys Luke" to "Noah's ready to come out of the closet".

ITA up until the bit about AC's acting. She was good, but no young actor or actress in all of daytime can touch Van H, IMO. His best work was definitely in 2006, but I can't blame him for the writers giving him next to absolutely nothing to work with since then.

I can't believe fans actually thought that TPTB would allow a homosexual relationship to be as intimidate as a heterosexual one. For shame people, don't you know better? :P

I disagree. I love Van. He is really good. One of the best younger male actors to hit soaps in a long long time. But AC grew so much during her time on ATWT that by the time the triangle began she was amazing. I am not a huge fanboy of hers or anything, but damn. Sometime she just was flawless. I think it is much harder to play normal and subtle than OTT and campy like a lot os soap actress' do. AC & VH better both get emmy nom's.
