GL: Week of February 9th

I just saw Monday's episode and thought that it was very exciting. There was so much going on what with Gus helping Olivia because of Natalia's insecure flaws, Josh finding out that Will was released from his new school because of Cassie, Lizzie realizing that Bill was the one who tipped off Alan, Jonathan pulling a gun on Alan after Rick is arrested and Beth's water breaking!

This seems to be the start of what could be a watchable week. I also thought that the sets (the ones that weren't shot on location with a handicam) looked very nice. Most notably Alan's beach house. It was very tropical and luxurious.

Come on DK/EW, keep up this good pace! I'm crossing my fingers.

Once again, the sets that were shot on handicam need to be done better. The sound quality is poor especially the part where Jonathan and Josh sounded like two drunk fraternity guys looking for a secret beer stash. And where are they at exactly? Don't tell me that's the kitchen in the Spaulding Mansion....

Natalia erasing Olivia's message on Gus' phone and locking her up in the bathroom at the Bauer Cabin. I love Crystal Chappell. She can work magic no matter what kind of terds are being thrown at her writing wise.

Bill has a place and is asking for Lizzie to move in with him?

I love the Cheerios commercials. Kinda cute.

Today's episode wasn't as fast paced as Monday's but it was still good. I really loved it when Cassie confronted Reva, Jeffery, and Josh about them trying to take Will away from her. It was even better to see The Slut of Springfield get pushed down to a pew in church.

Another highlight was Will packing Josh's things and explaining to Daisy that he's going to be leaving very soon. Is Daisy really that naieve to not think that this little boy is really a hell raising demon?

Today was suprisingly good for a change with the Alan/Jonathan blowout. I'm glad that Lizzie put two and two together and found Jonathan. Howevr, I'm not happy with this version of Alan Spaulding the cartoonish villian like Alistair Crane of the Crane family on Passions.

Weird to see Leah and Jude in the Bauer kitchen when Jude should be older than Leah the teenager. However, it was really nice to see Lillian make comment that it's nice to have another Bauer. And naming the daughter after Bert was also nice, but will the name still stay since Reva told Alan that he's the father of the baby during the christening? Nice cliffhanger compared to the usual repetitive music montages in the end...

The Bauer house scenes fell flat with me because of the overgrown toddler Leah. I will never accept Leah being older than her big brother and everyone that was born before her. The rest of the show was decent and I cannot wait to see the fall out of the baby reveal.

Today's episode was really exciting. This whole week has been very good. Even though people keep commenting on how bad the sets were, I thought the Bauer home looked very cozy. It's nice to see Rick and Beth in a front burner storyplot. What an ending! I didn't expect Reva to blurt out that the baby belongs to Alan and not Rick's. You have to feel bad for him. You have to give DK some credit for bringing up history via Bertha.

Tomorrow's episode looks a little bit slower but...that could make for some good acting.

Got to watch GL for the first time in ages today...and it was surprisingly good.

- Nicole Forester was working it...I'm with Cassie. I would be *pissed off* at Josh & Reva, too.

- Beth's stupid. Just because Alan is the biological father automatically gives him the right to see his daughter?..ahh..I am soo sick of this biology = natural rights/good parents dichotomy they always seem to have on soaps! Exactly why I think Josh & Reva are idiotics who put morals (especially Josh) above anything else..

- I kinda like Harley & Cyrus.

- Lizzie & Jonathan are tolerable but I DO NOT wanna see these two hook up again.

GL has been on fire this whole week. Each episode has been exciting. Today's ending was what really got me hooked. That was so sad that she had to find out that way. What an altimatum to Natalia, give me your husband and I'll forgive you for ruining my chance to survive. Keep it up GL! That's what we need is more fast paced story plots with villains and vixens. (I.E. Alan and Olivia)

Well honestly, after watching a SUPER fantastic episode of DAYS where it left an awesome cliffhanger, it was a BIG disappointment to see Guiding Light after watching DAYS. I don't understand Olivia and her neediness to Gus. I don't understand Natalia for feeling sorry for what she did to Olivia after Olivia is trying to be the catalyst between her and Gus. I don't understand Olivia wanting to sleep with all the men in town and to have these desired relationships.

I'll try to watch it more, but like I said before- I don't watch it out of pure enjoyment anymore. Instead, it's just obligation because I just feel sorry for it.

why did they have Tammy and Sarah's memorial service a year after they died

how did Alan kill Tammy? Jon keeps saying that but he wasnt involved with the accident was he?

Josh is a pastor? WTF?

Marina is a detective?

Why is Harley's daughter going by the name Daisy? When she was last on the show, her name was Susan as that was what shewas raised as. Why they sudden name change?

I guess to remember the both of them because the one year was approaching. Now, I guess that since Sarah is alive, it will now be a yearly Tammy memorial. Hopefully not.

To be honest, I wasn't watching Guiding Light at all during this time, so this is a good question. All I know is that Alan was shot and Josh was arrested and sent to prison or something. The one who shot Alan was Ashlee Wolfe.

Don't ask. That whole stoyline is just embarrassing.

Yeah. That's embarrassing too.

Because Ellen Wheeler likes to change things around, because you know, Guiding Light has such a deep history and all. Her name was Daisy when Dinah helped Harley give birth, but Harley she gave Daisy away up for adoption. Jim Lemay and his wife adopted Daisy and changed her name to Susan. Susan's mother died and she wanted to know more of her biological mother and that's where YOU saw Susan last. Jim also died during a fire, so that leaves Susan/Daisy back with her biological parents Harley and Dylan.

    • They really did; I know the transition wasn't as beautiful as many thought it should have been, but at least with Mulcahey at the helm, I felt like there was going to be resolve at some point... even if we didn't know what it was at the time. Seeing everyone turn against Sonny, except for Ava (with her mysteriously nefarious reasons), was beautiful to see. Plus, Mulcahey swiftly fixed Alexis' law license issue that had dragged on far too long. Again, was it perfect? No. But did I get a sense that Mulcahey, if given a true chance, could have done some effective changes? Yes. Very glad to know I am not alone in this, and yes, Harper's chemistry with Sawandi Wilson's Isaiah has been lovely. But it seems like every time there is a viable match, TPTB nix it before it can truly begin.
    • Reading all the theories here and on twitter.  Someone wondered if June is connected to Leslie? So now we have June possibly connected to Hayley, to Samantha&Tyrell, or to Leslie. I love that we don't know! To be honest, I didn't think June was connected to any major character.  I thought she was simply a client who might prove to have an interesting backstory.  But then she dropped the photograph, so that has to mean something.
    • Thanks for the factoid, that's so interesting! (The character, though, was not, LOL. Ridiculous storyline). You know what? Even though he was a core family member, I think you are right. I would much rather they had kept Alan Michael on the canvas to represent the second Spaulding generation. (Of course, they would have had to write some good stories for the character, which, who knows if they would/could have). Reva, yes, I agree. Her shelf life expired when she drove that car off the bridge. The ever increasing desperation to keep her character relevant after she came back was very difficult to watch.
    • I don't suppose you have that August 4, 1995 episode @soapfan770 has with Hope throwing Nikki out of The Newman Ranch?
    • I have taken extremely long breaks from the show because of Sonny and I didn’t watch in the 90’s so I didn’t realize this was a crutch the show used all the time. Hell even though Maurice hates it, it was the most I could tolerate Sonny because he was written as the ass.hole he actually is at his core. His meds working again don’t erase all the characters I’ve either liked or accepted that I had to watch he and Jason murder and somehow come out as the good guys.
    • When I saw the pic of two kids on a stoop, I immediately though it was Samantha and Tyrell but that could be a red herring. The picture is quite old so maybe it is Hayley and June. This would help to bring Naomi back into Hayley and Bill's orbit. If June is Tyrell and Samantha's mother, that story would seem to be a dead end - unless Martin and Smitty adopted them through improper means. I did wonder if Anastasia is who Shanice has been chatting with during her shift. Her line to Ted about making her mouth even bigger? I was scandalized. Anastasia has to return soon.
    • I would DIE if Shanice’s mom lived beyond the gates and was just as messy I loved her so much. Give. Me. More. Absolutely loved this scene. Looking forward to more bonding between them. She is such a find. If her agents are smart, they’re booking her on bigger things as soon as possible. I want to see her blow up. She is THAT good to me. Ambyr and Trisha are the stars of this show for me and why I watch. Bingo. This show actually feeling like a soap that moves has made it so hard for me to watch the others anymore. I love you Thank god you said this. I wish we’d stop taking the bait but this needed to be said. White male leads cheat ALLLLLLLL the time. But this poster seems to think omg two black men that cheated decades apart are about to set us back somehow. I’m about to add them to the ignore list with Donna, I’m sick of the baiting. This was perfectly stated. Preach my friend, preach. As for yesterday’s episode I loved it. The show is handling the fall out from the Eva reveal so damn well for me. And I LOVED that Ted final scene holding Eva’s hand. I guess I’m in the minority since the recast announcement was made but I will miss Maurice and his chemistry with all of his costars as Ted and really wish he could’ve played the entire fall out of the story.
    • I would love to see it as part of a backlot shopping district where characters can bump into one another in a more natural way. Lately there has too much getting up and leaving then coming back during meals at Orphey's and Uptown. It's becoming a distraction. There could be shops, more restaurants and a coworking space. All of the "you will never be a Dupree" lines definitely are pointing to this. This is one of my favorite stories. I love stories about show business and MVJ has a background in the music industry so I'm looking forward to seeing where this goes. Anita instigated the breakup - we have already seen her mean streak come out with Hannah and Eva. I expect one member (she called Sharon today) to be holding a grudge and another member (Tracy) to be somewhat bitter but more open to the idea of a tour, playing the role of peacemaker between Anita and Sharon. Maybe Sharon will pull a Mary Wilson and write tell-all about Anita.

    • I would have been more impressed if it hadn't been built on a con (Sonny's meds already being used to make sure he would be exonerated later on). The show has been doing this dance with Sonny since the mid '90s, including Mulcahey's previous stint. I almost prefer them just being honest, as Laura doesn't have a great deal of integrity to lose anyway. The problem is Sonny is just completely spent as a character. If he wasn't, we wouldn't have to see this comment from Laura again and again. He would actually be doing something on the canvas. Instead, he's written like he's already dead. If only.
