Today was incredible.

My favorite part was Stephanie and Max.They were awesome

Second is Marlena Stuff.Marlena is incredible.I'm so happy that she's always on.

Third is in jail with EJ/Carmime/Lucas.They did a great job

Pretty decent episode today. Best scenes today were the Chelsea/Stephanie confessions. I love how it cut back and forth between Chelsea telling Nick about Ford and Stephanie telling Max about the rape. But I was disappointed in Nick. After all that Nick's done for Chelsea, he walks out on the woman he loves?

Looking forward to tomorrow! It's the big day!

God, Marlena is so bloody awesome even I'm reaching new levels of love for the character! And Deidre's doing a kick ass job. She's snippy towards the characters she should be snippy with and she's had enough of the incompetent Salem PD.

I don't know about anyone else but I really enjoyed the actress playing the D.A. and think she could actually be a good edition to the cast as long as they keep here unrelated to the Brady's and Hortons.

I think I'm siding with Nick on this one. Chelsea keeps making stupid mistakes and getting herself involved in bad situations and never seems to learn anything from it. Zack, the hairbrush incident, Ford....she has to learn to accept responsibility and suffer the consequences of her actions. Sure, Nick may love her, but he's probably had enough of getting in trouble for Chelsea's mistakes--he lost his job at the hospital, lost all his money, almost went to jail. Now he has a job he likes and is rebuilding his reputation, and I don't blame him for walking out on Chelsea today. I've grown to love the girl, but she's pretty toxic. And you know he'll be back...he always comes back panting like a puppy dog.

I was so disappointed in Nick too. But when I think about it, I wasn't that surprised. This is what he usually does, then after a while he's back. Let's hope there's still some sense left in that head of his.

Liked the scene when Steph told Max about the rape. Good job Shelley.

Wow, pretty much half the cast was on today..We had Nick, Chelsea, Max, Stephanie, Bo, Hope, Shawn, Belle, Phillip, Chloe, Claire, Crystal, Roman, Abe, Sami, Lucas, EJ, Stefano, Rolf, Marlena, and the mystery patient....I have to say with so many cast members, it was a well put together episode...

I'm really enjoying how mysterious Crystal is, and they are doing a good job of slowly integrating her into the show...Instead of some new character that are shoved down our throats on a daily basis...Marlena was so fierce today, and i'm loving her getting scenes with so many different characters..Also its nice to have Marlena's daughters there for her..Back when JER was around, we hardly saw interactions like that...A day like today would have never happened..

Finally, i enjoyed the Nick/Chelsea and Max/Stephanie scenes..i really liked how they cut back and forth..What sounded dumb, turned out to be a surprisingly good story...I just hope that this groups next story is more integrated with the rest of the cast..and i'm hoping with Tony and Anna around, that may happen..

Superb again.

Everything is interconnected, people are interacting with family and friends, every scene has a meaning and purpose, there is direction to every story, nothing seems forced...wow. I love it. I also love the pace and the usage of so many cast members and sets per episode. Plus, the way people pop in and out is great.

Loved the juxtaposition of the Max/Stephanie and Chelsea/Nick scenes. Adding the flashbacks in was a nice touch. Rachel and Shelley did a superb today. Good work. I think Nick only walked out because he was in shock at what happened. I did enjoy their scenes and Max crying when Stephanie went to lay down...loved it. Darin was so good there and...Lord help me...I am beginning to like Stephanie and Max. :lol:

Loved the "patient" scenes. Just like the good old days and loving Stefano and Rolf, especially the end with Stefano grinning. The scene with the "patient" cleaning Marlena's window was creepy and very engaging. Loved it.

Bo/Hope/Shawn was so cute in the beginning. It was a classic Days scene that warmed your heart. His shout out to Claire, the medal...loved it. Hope overhearing Crystal made me laugh. She has become quite the busybody. :lol: I do like how she passed the message on to Marlena. Good interaction. Bo and Hope were adorable today too. I also liked the chemistry between Shawn and Chloe, as well as the Chloe/Philip scenes. Little Claire is too cute for words.

Lucas and EJ and the fight in the cell was hilarious. Carmine's reaction, Lucas and EJ sniping and offering different views of what happened was hilarious :lol: . Sami is feeling more and more like herself and she looked like herself today with her hair and all. I think she looked fine and enjoyed her scenes. She is more Sami-like now and loved Roman, Marlena, etc counseling her about Lucas and Marlena talking with Lucas and EJ. They are really showing how much the Brady's stand behind Lucas. Loved Marlena telling EJ to prove himself too. Seeing more Belle/Sami bonding was a nice touch as well.

I loved that DA calling out Bo, Roman, and Abe on them bending the rules and getting people off all the time. I was glad they mentioned the heat her office was under for the actions they take. Very good and I am glad that was acknowledged. Also loved Marlena going off on them and it looks like we get more of that tomorrow. She has a right to be upset and her asking what is going to be done is realistic. I have to admit, when Marlena walked in with Sami and Belle on both sides of her, I kind of thought of Charlie's Angels for some reason :lol: .

The week is off to a great start.

OMG. im still in shock. today i felt like i was in the 90's again.... Days & GH both had amazing episodes that i watched all the way. from start to finish. and when nthey were done i was pissed i had to wait an entire day for a new episode. YAY!

Wanted to chime in and say that the show is superb. Honestly, I don't know what it is that has become of the show as of late. I'm definately watched more of DAYS than I did last year that's for sure. And I'm so glad this sorority storyline doesn't suck compared to the one they had last summer.

It only took him 7 months to run out of money. He and Jacinda really need a class on budgeting blackmail gains.
Yeah, I get your point. It's a shame both these stories are happening at the same time. It makes Lulu look like a weird helicopter mom that won't let her kids do anything even if she has valid reasons. The show has written Lulu poorly and tried to make her the heavy in almost every situation since her return so it's not surprising.

True, I remember in the beginning that Bea had a much harder edge (and was shown sucking back beers with Floyd). You could understand a little bit why Nola was embarrased by her origins. Later, it was more like she was unreasonable in her disdain for her family. It is a shame they lost their edge.

It's kind of throughout the entirety when he talks about manliness (and comparing himself to that of Bill Cosby), etc., and how he tried portraying Ted's love for his wife, and how manliness is what needed to be shown. It was multiple comments kind of equalling why he left the role. The 'host' of that 'interview' kept jumping from one point to another point. It was all over the place.

He never discusses exiting BTG. He talks about how BTG opened doors for his career but nothing about his exit at all. And the interviewer doesn't ask at all.

The issue is his description of his self-described "manliness", and how he thought women viewers respond to that ... but all of that is alongside the homophobia he expresses.

Some text-based soap websites have typed up and posted their summaries of this interview, in which they state that he says he'd never portray a gay character because his portrayal wouldn't be believable to the viewers, and that it would be better if gay actors got such roles. People hurriedly reading those unclear summaries might buy that as a support of gay actors and representation. But it's not that at all!
If you watch the video, there's more * emotion * in how he says that, making it obvious that he's homophobic.

Marland would totally fit into that because his main strengths was complicate and complex plotlines with characters sometimes taking a backseat (His Guiding Light was worlds different in subtle ways to his predecessors the Dobon's (husband and wife team).
Bill Bell on Y & R also was very much into plot with character sometimes taking a backseat... and also he had a trusted co-head writer by the name of Kay Alden that did flesh out the characters (i.e Victor Newman, Jack Abbott, etc).
Brad Bell has no business being a writer... but he's actually in the plot realm and not the character realm.

Perfect example was the Doug/Vanessa/Joey story that had both of them slowly becoming ensnared in Joey's web with Joey using their addictions (gambling for Doug and Sex for Vanessa) to his advantage. Doug's 'death' with his son coming to investigate were the last episodes of Guza's stint and all of a sudden the son was sent back to school and Vanessa is now becoming pathetic without the cunning glint in her eyes that we saw in the first 150 episodes or so).
The Hayley bombshell was a great way swan song for Guza's stint. but the aftereffects have been a bit lackluster with Hayley since episode 151 with her making such careless mistakes (no way would she be eyeing Jacob's brother in plain sight, nor talking to Randy in public, nor being overly insistent on Bill drinking a special tea, etc)... and now this random chick that came out of nowhere.

I never really thought of the similarity. You're right, they are very similar early on.
Early Bobbie is also similar to what we know of Charlotte Bauer.
Beyond GL and GH being such different soaps, and the huge popularity of Luke, I think the biggest difference between the siblings is how quickly the show pivoted Nola away from a seedier world. Even after Bobbie was "redeemed" (which took much longer than Nola's redemption), her past was never truly gone.
Marland's choice to make the Reardons so nice outside of Nola also meant there was less backstory to mine compared to the Spencers. You had Ruby, who was kind, but also razor-sharp, a reminder of where they'd come from. Nola had Bea, who was the stock sweetie pie mother.
By 1982, Nola was moving away from most of the foundation of the character, and there wasn't very much left by the time Lisa Brown quit the show.
They could have brought some of that hard edge back in her second run, but it just never worked out, due to terrible, terrible writing from start to finish.

Hahaha Bell’s words on Kurt Costner has always explained everything I need to know. I’m sure Bell was very familiar with McCloskey’s previous work and in his head it might have worked, but between Bell’s admitted struggles and McCloskey being saddled with a lackluster terrible recast it was all DOA.
To this day I still believe TLW deserved that Emmy wayyyyy more than Stafford.

-- The hard right turn moving Leslie away from Ted and towards Marcel makes no sense to me. This just feels like another dropped storyline in a sea of dropped storylines. She was OBSESSED with Ted and now doesn't even mention him.
