Members Y&RWorldTurner
I assume it will be more writers leaving various writing teams, since ABC, P&G, and DAYS appear to be downsizing. I could see few additions to those soaps, they're more likely to happen through HW changes though. B&B will likely stay unchanged. I expect the next few months to be roughest on Y&R. I can see tons of people leaving and tons of people being added, like last year.
Administrator Toups Posted April 24, 2008 Author Administrator Share Posted April 24, 2008 QUOTE (Chris B @ Apr 23 2008, 11:54 PM) Toups, can we get a tease tease to hold us over until May? Will this tease be for NBC, CBS or ABC? Hmm...I guess I can do that. ABC: 1 CBS:
Members juppiter
Oooh I hope some of the CBS ones are about ATWT. That writing team needs major shakeups from top to bottom.
Members Chris B
Thanks Toups! I'm going to guess Jack Smith for one of the CBS tease's. Only because he went FiCore so he's bound to join soon enough. BUT, could he or Kay Alden be jumping ship to Co-HW or Consult at Y&R? The other two are probably Y&R as well since MAB must want to bring on at least one person. Plus ATWT and GL seem so set in their ways.
Administrator Toups Posted April 24, 2008 Author Administrator Share Posted April 24, 2008 It's not Jack Smith. We already know he's at B&B now.
Members Chris B
Oh okay. Well then I think all three with be for Y&R. Good for Y&R as long as it means Bell returns and not more LML hires. Bad for ATWT and GL bc they're in dire need of a change. Of course the best change would be a new HW, but that would be Breaking News and not one of these writer changes. Members Sylph
I don't know where he will go, but the fact that he worked for so many soap operas is a plus. Just my opinion. When they hire writers, they want the experienced ones, which have precedence over newbies. Besides, he's only 59 so he might pop up somewhere else. Members Y&RWorldTurner
Yes, but since ABC, DAYS, and P&G seem to be downsizing for budgetary reasons, I don't see any of those soaps hiring an established writer like him. I don't think the Bell soaps would go for him either, sadly. He's very talented, something we can all agree on.
Members Sylph
You make a good point. He writes excellent dialogue, but as a head writer – he is terrible. When he wrote for AMC, there was no balance, there were a lot of nonsense storylines, some of which were dropped with no explanation...
Members Y&RWorldTurner
He never the Headwriter for AMC... He was only ever Co-HW of GL (shared with Nancy, James, and Lorraine), and interim Co-HW for ATWT proceeding Lorraine Broderick's tenure.
Members Sylph
OMG! I exchanged him for Richard Culliton.
Members Sylph
Did Demorest write the Kim Hughes's open-heart surgery on ATWT?
Members Y&RWorldTurner
Yes, if I remember correctly, Demorest was only the interim Co-HW for ATWT from like November 1997 to March 1998. During the end of 1997, Kim was in a coma due to a church fire, a story that was followed through by Demorest and company. The open heart surgery was in December 1997, so it was during the time Demorest, Addie Walsh, and Mel Brez were interim Co-HW's.
