You are right. But my point with the split screens aren't per se going to make soaps popular. All these people seem to forget one immensely important thing: first comes the story and then the way you tell it. Besides, 24 has really gotten only worse during all the years it's been on: you can clearly see the pattern the show tells stories and it wasn't interesting because you knew what was going to happen. Hopefully, Howard Gordon (or whoever runs that show now) will fix and stir things up a bit.

As for those dark and brooding men - they have clogged the screens and it's time to get some rest from them. Had they been balanced from the start, I wouldn't mind them. But after all these years...

That is true about the story - however i do see the point they make about trying to catch the new viewers. the younger demos, etc. because there IS a stigma with soaps. however crazy it is that they still have it, they do. And by doing splitscreens, outdoor scenes, etc and doing what other shows do it does give them a diff feel. however it has not worked. and not ony has it not worked it has also driven away the older fans. it was a lose/losy and they still do it.

however soaps are going to be dead in the next 5 years, IMHO. they just are. the main issue, yes above even the bad writing, is the timeslot. i honestly do think soaps timeslot is causing much more harm than bad writing.

Yeah. This is the whole issue: there are so many problems surrounding daytime that it is soon becoming impossible to fix it. They're just going to die, as you say.

I really need to go listen to this interview. It's always fascinating to me which writers get sainted and which get vilified before people even hear a word they have to say on a subject... and how quickly opinions change.

Off to listen to MP!!!!!

I've never had this problem before, but I can't get it to load the ad before the show. It's getting stuck. It's gotta be a BlogTalk issue because I've used this with the same browsers a hundred times before, and never encountered this.

Damn wires and tubes... :-)

I got it to work with Firefox. It didn't work with Opera and IE.

I loved Michelle Patrick's interview.

The only thing that bugged me was when she was kinda defending Megan with the un-abortion. I would have liked to here her talk about her time at AMC with B&E.

I loved when Michelle talked about having to write that "god damned Cinderella wedding"! Sing it, sister! :D

ATWT:

Gordon Rayfield first day listed as today's script writer.

Does anyone know why Culliton left and Rayfield was hired?
