Welcome to the One Life to Live Discussion Thread for the week of November 19th, 2007. It looks to be another great, albeit short week this week. Be sure and watch as worlds collide. Hope you enjoy your visit and are prepared to discuss the interworkings of Llanview, PA and OLTL. If so, then you're in the right place. So let the discussion of the good, bad, and ugly that is Llanview, Pennsylvania & One Life to Live begin...

A Texas-only episode that was really hot! I loved Viki and Charlie and I am really liking Natalie and Jared. I don't like Clint with Nora, but then again I've only ever liked Nora with Bo (Ron Carlivati, work your magic and bring back the show's best ever supercouple!). The Dorian stuff was great and tomorrow looks fantastic.

Whats a breakdown writer? thanks.

As for Mondays show, so far so good & Tuesday looks better! :)

Todd/Blair are CUTE, love the new relationship they are building with trust.

Viki/Charlie are SWEET, LOL @ Gigi having bad timing, AGAIN!

Dorian/David were HOT!, LOL @ Dorian pushing David to go down on her!

Nat/Jared were Smokin, but also got interrupted twice!lol

Loved Nigel for gagging Alex

Liked that Marcie acknowledged that she is lying to Gigi and if Gigi found out she would be upset.

Loved the door stuff with Todd, and the near misses in the hall and on the phones.

Great episode today. I found it so hard to switch back and forth between OLTL and ATWT today because both had me reeled in a good bit.

Okay, I haven't watched OLTL regularly in like...three or four years, but I try to keep up with the show a little bit. Someone's gonna have to clue me in, though.

From what I'm getting, Marcie and Michael adopted Todd's child (with who?) because they all thought Todd was dead, right? And then Todd came back and thought that his child was dead, but then he found out that the kid was alive. And the whole court thing happened, and Todd got custody, so Marcie went on the run with the kid? And that brought her to Texas, where she met Mimi.......I mean Gigi, who is waitress, right? And they hit it off, but now Gigi just realized yesterday that Marcie is a kidnapper. What story did Marcie (or "Sally Ann") give Gigi about why she and her boy were on the run? I think I heard something about "an abusive husband" or something like that...but anyway, now Todd and Blair are trying to track down Marcie to get the baby boy back, right? And that brought them to Texas too. Is that all right?

Okay, and now the whole thing with Clint and Viki and Dorian and Nora, etc. Somebody's gonna have to fill me in completely about this one. All I get so far is that Clint and Dorian are together, David is married to Alex (who I LOVE, she is great!), but Clint and Nora have some kind of unresolved feelings...so they kissed, and Dorian saw it, and so she hit the sack with David...which I don't blame her...because that man...mmmm. And Clint walked in after they did it today and ended up pointing a gun at David. But how can you shoot a man with pecs like that!?

The whole stuff with Jessica and Natalie and Nash and all that...don't really care too much, but I'd still like to know more about it. What's this whole thing regarding Nigel and David being Asa's son...and how did Alex and David get together? And who is the guy who overheard Nigel and Alex at the end?

Any answers would be MUCH appreciated. I just don't know how in the hell I'm gonna keep up with both ATWT and OLTL next week when I go back to school lol

Margaret Cochran. She was one of those classic soap psychos who had an obesession with Todd and raped him. She ended up giving birth to Tommy. The baby was taken away from her, and somehow ended up getting adopted by Marcie and Michael. Now Marcie is on the run with him.

I think you heard right. She gave a story or something like it about a abusive husband.

That's right.

Clint and Nora had been spending lots of time together, especially since she had moved into the Buchanan mansion with her son Matthew. (Asa's grandson) While Dorian was off doing her own thing, Clint and Nora grew close as friends. Especially when Dorian and Clint were having problems. Dorian was a bit jealous. Nora went with the Buchanans to texas for the will reading, and Clint and Nora shared a kiss. However I think it they intend on staying friends, but who knows now.

I wonder how too. Tuc Watkins is smokin!

Jess and Natalie are sisters. Jared Banks came to town after having been placed in prison for a crime that Jess did while she was suffering DID or split personality (her other persona was Tess). Jared set out to get Jessica back for putting him in prison, that included worming his way into her life anf family. However somewhere in there he fell in love Jessica's feisty sister Natalie, who wanted to protect her sister from him. Now that Natalie and Jared have confessed their feelings, Jared has overheard some very damaging informations regarding the Buchanans: the infamous David Vickers is a Buchanan.

Oh and Jared also brought half of Nash's vineyard, and if I'm correct owns Jessica and Nash's home too, or part of it.

Nigel was Asa Buchanan's loyal butler. Asa told(?) Nigel that David Vickers was his son. Nigel however wants to abide by his boss's wishes in the will and keep quiet about David's paternity.

Alex learned that David was a Buchanan when she overheard Nigel discussing it with Max Holden, at Asa's funeral. Alex departed Llanview and tacked David down to some rehabilitation center where David was employed. (Alex claimed to be a sex addict!) Not only did she seduce David she married him for the money she assumed he'd be inheiriting. On David's end, he married Alex for her money because she claimed to have lots of it. David however doesn't know that he's a Buchanan, or that he's Clint's half brother!

I really enjoyed today's show, it feels like I've been waiting FOREVER for Clint and Dorian to break up and I hope to God that this did it. I'm warming up to Clint and Nora, as long as I still get my Viki and Charlie. LOL.

It must be a golden rule that David wear nothing but a bed [!@#$%^&*] anytime and everytime he shows back up in Llanview. The scenes with the whole gang at the ranch was just too funny and it was great to watch.

    • Might be a long shot, because I can't find a thing online about it, but I was Googling the actress that played Nell Cleary (Frank's cop friend that went through academy and then became cops together during the entire Brent Lawrence storyline). To my surprise, she passed away in 2011, at the very young age of 45. I can't find her obituary or anything online about her passing, but I'm curious, does anyone know what happened? Her IMDB only shows a few other acting gigs post-Guiding Light, so she didn't make a career out of it, but I thought she was a great actress in her role as Cleary. Her name was Mary Peterson.
    • What was Ruth Martin's association to the Thornton family?  I only remember the daughter that dated Tad, and she had a buxom mother.  But, did Ruth date David Thorton before Joe?

Why didn't Steve respect Monica and Jeff's decision?  I get he's Jeff's father, and that's how it came out, but I don't like the ethics of the story. A stranger gets to make life or death decisions over a wife's demands?   I hope Monica secretly never forgave Steve's chauvinism.
    • Question: Jon-Michael Reed's review of 1977 is up in the retro soap section.  It includes a fleeting reference to comedic scenes between Jeanne Cooper and Julianna McCarthy regarding “Kay's would-be beau, Ralph the Plumber”.  Could someone please fill me in will more details? I forgot that Kay and Liz were friendly before Jill stole Kay's husband.  And the thought of Liz playing a comedic scene blows my mind, because I only recall her being dour both in demeanor and wardrobe.
    • I said this on Twitter on Friday when Leslie mentioned Chicago, so perhaps she might be related to one of Anita's bandmates. In addition, Leslie did say she grew up listening to The Articulettes too.
    • There was a scene in the past week or two with Leslie looking at some papers and mementos, which included an invitation or souvenir from Alan's memorial service or funeral -- it was dated as November 2024. Me just guessing but it seems to me that Martin's nightmares about the accident are from something longer ago than November.
    • ah thanks! do you know who the third one was in the blonde? the fifth one i know ive seen before in the brown wig but i forgot, and then ive never seen the psychic one before lol
    • I felt for Ted early on but as the story unfolded it has changed my opinion on him. To know he was cheating while his wife was struggling to give him a baby is a lot to deal with. Plus, this happened ages ago and still he's paying Leslie off and threatening her to leave town.  What really caused me to lose him in this episode was how even though he was busted, he still refused to take responsibility and come clean and the way he talked to Martin and Eva was terrible. To tell Smitty he better get Martin away from him when that is his SON who he used to cover up his affair? That is true dog behavior. Ted seems upset he got caught but I'm not seeing the remorse I would need to want Nicole to forgive him. I'm curious how I'll feel after Ted gets to talk to Nicole but I need him to fix it with the rest of the family as well.
    • I'm sorry. I well remember Jake doing Doris but I have no independent memory of the story around it.  Krystle with a K Lake, sure, both Tony the Tuna stories & NOT.  And, Jake also impersonated a woman named Bunny Eberhardt but he didn't know she was a woman so there was no drag. This weekend I re-watched Kevin & Mac, GH, and my strong impression is exactly what it was when I watched it in real time: They did not let them look very pretty. Of course, I think the best ever drag on GH was Alexis posing as the Q butler.  In a different use of drag at AW one Halloween, Jensen Buchanan went as Charlie Chaplin & Judi Evans went as, I think, a male gypsy.

    • I'm not sure who wanted them to dump REUNION & instead do a "Dallas-like daytime show" but it seems that it def came from NBC to AW through Rauch, so, yes, it absolutely could have been his (cough-another-stupid?) decision!!!! I've just begun the new Lisanti book so maybe I will find out. (I waited for the kindle version to come out.) I would apologize for being so critical & so sarcastic, too, but, well, I'm not actually sorry!  Silverman was NOT a friend to AW.  And, I believe the critique is on point & deserved! I wanted to explain why I think the timing is off for the 90 minute show to be a reaction to the GH Luke & Laura story & its hype. Because, for sure, networks & production companies did react to it! The first 90 minute show was Monday, March 5, 1979.  And, there was some unknown amount of time ahead of that with people arguing about it & then, planning it.  The Luke & Laura wedding was mid-November 1981.  They were on the run from Frank Smith & stayed overnight in Wyndham's Dept. Store early August 1980.
