OK, today's was another fantastic episode! I loved the scenes between Stephen and Stephanie, there's just so much past between them and it is utilized correctly. Brooke and Ridge are sweet, although why they have to get married so quickly ("after the show, we'll begin preparations" could mean in two weeks lol) I don't get. Yet again, they've been through so much, I don't see why they would wait. It's not as if they want to figure out if they love each other ;) I also love the fact that Katie was hired as Forrester's PR person, not that I ever had any doubt that she would start working there. But Heather Tom just made it look so natural. And her relationship with Donna is awesome, how they bitch about one another and the next moment they hug--it takes some very attentive writing to do that nicely. Speaking of the writing, I'm so shocked! I can't figure out who writes what any longer! The scripts are so uniformedly good, it's as if the same person is writing them all! I am so amazed, they are really doing splendid work.

B&B has been amazing the past few weeks. I love how they are utilizing the history of the Forresters and Logans as well as the reviving of Spectra with Jackie at the helm. I also love how they already updated the opening to include all the Logans and Forresters. I truly believe the reason B&B and Y&R are at the top of the ratings is they know how to use their veterans and characters the audience knows and loves. Maybe the others soaps should follow that trend and maybe the other soaps would benefit from it.

I think you have touched on a very important reason on why both B&B and Y&R have such lasting success. Sure, both soaps have their faults and they both have their share of bad storylines (something non-existent in today's B&B, though, and Y&R is getting better), but, through it all, those were stories that were handled, more or less, by the veterans that people love to watch every day.

People ask why Y&R's ratings aren't down since it's so bad. It's the CAST!!! It may be horrible, and boring, and have commas induced by croissants, but, by and large, the VETERAN cast is behind it and that's why people keep tuning in. For Bergman, Scott, Braeden, Morrow, Case, Stafford, St. John, etc.

A LOT of soaps would get better if they JUST gave the type of storylines B&B gives Stephanie and Eric. Bell knows how to respect its senior cast and that respect pays off, because the original can DEFINITELY make a horrid storyline much better than newbies can. Imagine Rick and Phoebe trying to do what Brooke and Ridge have been doing? Who would you prefer (even if you rather have none)?

oh no no no! That would be all types of incest if they were. Stephen's ex wife Beth used to be Stephanie's rival for Eric. Its why she hates Brooke and everything Logan. Stephen hates Stephanie for the things she has done to Brooke over the years. He also hates Eric bc Beth really loved him and hated Stephanie bc she was always by his side defending him

Great episode! I also loved the last scene with Stephen walking in on Eric and the ho

The magazine cover of Jackie (brain fart. Almost called her Olivia there) was horrible. Blonde? Puh leaze Jackie

With Katie working at Forresters, they might as well change the name to Logan Creations

Where the heck is Ashley? Ridge dumps her and then theres NO followup? Seeign how she also works with him and Brooke, I would have expected something

I am so glad that B&B seems to be gaining more and more viewers!!!

And they should really stop with all the perfection! I mean, how much more perfection can we take? :D

Stephen and Storm having problems was delicious and who knew that DeVry could pull it off? I loved seeing them fighting today.

Also nice touch that they had Katie get Storm's help with the Forrester contract. The idea of using the gun Stephanie gave Brooke was awesome, once again they used the show's history. Although why Brooke would keep it is another matter. So, now, Storm has touched it, Stephen has touched it, and it's in Brooke's office. Hmmm, if I know a good mystery, none of them will do it in the end. Although that leaves us with Donna (which I don't want to happen, because Donna should never leave).

I love the fact that Taylor has been having difficulties bonding with Jack.

And Donna and Eric were so sweet today. You GOTTA love them!

DeVry BROUGHT IT today! Why the hell was that man taken off contract?! The way they were writing him previously was really bland and OOC for Storm, but today was the old and superior Storm. Those scenes with Stephen were AMAZING! I also love how everyone doesn't know everything, like Stephanie telling Brooke to kill herself and people STILL are being told about the rape. Rick still doesn't know and Kristen, if you count her. Back to Storm, I would strongly consider giving this sexy devil a love interest, immediately.

I love the Logans! Nah I still hate Donna and Brooke but the family as a whole has been on fire. Im glad that Storm and Stephen are back and I love that the entire family has been interacting. I hope they stay and like them as the "2nd" core family

Why dont they keep Storm and put him with either Felicia, Ashley or Taylor. I think either one would be hot

One question though. Stephen said that he never abandoned his family. He stayed away bc Storm made him. How old was Storm when this happened, like a teenager? Why would he ask this and why would Stephen do it? Stephen is the oldest of the Logans?

Stormy is the eldest Logan child. He was 14 or 15 when Stephen Sr. took off for unbeknownst reasons and served as a fatherfigure for his sisters; Brooke is two years younger than Storm followed by the rest.

Stephen Logan was MIA from 1980 (pre-B&B) to 1988 when Stephanie dug him out in Arizona.

So much for the history, so why do I - in other words moi :P - have to wait to watch B&B on Friday or even Saturday!? Life ain't fair. ;)

Another great episode. The Storm/Brooke scene was great, how he hugged her, you could really feel the pain.... William deVry is just so great, why they ever let him go I will never understand. Also, that ending scene, were Stephanie refuses to let Eric go and then cries was one of the best scenes I have ever seen for Stephanie.... SUCH a wonderful scene!

    • For years I did NOT go by Laura's opinion of Luke. Today I certainly do not go by Laura's opinion that Sonny somehow is good for Port Charles. Actually when it comes to being a judge of people's characters, and the issue is Laura, I just remember Esme.
    • Good point. It would provide some conflict with Jack. As much as I am not interested in Claire, I don't find it difficult to understand why she might be a bit reluctant  to commit to a guy who has already been divorced twice or is  3 times?before he is 30. That's a natural obstacle that Claire would be hesitant about. But in GC every relationship is true love and various past marriages are forgotten.
    • He had no chance getting on The Sopranos

I’m in NYC, and I can’t help but wonder if NYC prosecutors, politicians, etc. ever felt the way that Laura did, back in the 80s-90s when they were taking down the mob.  “Oooh, don’t put John Gotti in prison. The guy who comes in after him might be worse”
    • Happy 18th Birthday, Sophia! I like that Tate gave her a birthday party. And that Marlena counseled him about whether or not he has feelings for Sophia, and his relationship with Holly. I like how messy Tate is and I hope he continues to be messy. He just needs to have more argument/fight scenes with Doug III

Days just needs to work a little bit more on establishing better chemistry between Tate and Sophia, but I still think that’s mostly due to Rachel Boyd. Sometimes, I think that Sophia might secretly be scheming, but with the way RB plays it, (if that’s what they’re going for), it doesn’t seem to be working. Tate was also really sweet and dorky during the party too The drug scenes didn’t do much for me though. I don’t mind that Kevin panicked and ran off with the drug once he heard Steve and Shawn coming, but I felt like that story was the weakest part of today. But I am interested in seeing what happens next. And I couldn’t help but laugh when I noticed that Steve and Shawn had matching jackets Btw, I see Mayor Price established a quid pro quo with Xander today lol I wouldn’t mind that being more than just a plot point. It could lead to some pretty good drama if it’s handled correctly. And it would be a lot better than Xander declaring war on Sweet Bits/Chanel and Felicity.  And Stephanie, finally having her mother to confide in about her life, her relationship with Alex, etc. has been one of the best things about the Paula/Jeanne episodes. The book thing still seems very Ron/Jamey-like though, mostly because it’s so centered around Alex, sort of like how GH used to make storylines about Liz all about Finn or Franco Hopefully, Stephanie talks to Kayla about the book. I’d like to hear more of her perspective on it. I also like that Kayla and Marlena were there for each other as well. These are such better ways to use all three of them. And, we got an update about John One other thing I’ve noticed about the Paula/Jeanne episodes (except for the ones that are worked on by Jamey) is that they’re longer than Ron episodes. Episodes usually clock in at around 40-41 minutes now, as opposed to 35-37, or as short as 31. I like that.
    • Also Victor being the obstacle for Kyle/Claire feels forced. If anything it should be Diane. Diane has a history of having issues with the Newmans, doesn’t she? Jack could be the one trying to reel her in while she’s meddling in Kyle and Claire’s relationship. They’re making the characters of Diane, Victoria, Nick, Sharon be way too complacent when they could have a stronger role in the younger characters like Mariah/Tessa, Kyle/Claire etc
    • A year later we had these ratings for the week of May 11-17 1987. This was probably the last time the CBS soaps (at least til Dallas’ finale) ranked this high. Dynasty had already ended its season.  CBS reran the Dallas Early Years movie on Saturday night against Golden Girls’ season finale, which was the failed Empty Nest back door pilot.  Interestingly a repeat Family Ties was #1 this week. The week before the season finale of Family Ties beat out Cosby as well, but it was Cheers that beat them both out with Diane’s exit.

    • Hello to everybody!

I'm writing a series of essays about the first time of a LGBT character in US soaps. I already have datas about Sharon Duvall in DAYS (1977) as first Bisex, Lynn Carson in AMC (1983) as first Lesbian, Hank Elliott on ATWT (1989) as first Gay (someone have or can find the episode in which Paul Ryan finds out about Hank and does not take it very well? I have seen Hank's coming out to Iva and when Hank gets a bullet to save Paul's life from the latter evil father and when he gets tested for HIV after finding out Charlie's diagnosis, but Soap Opera Digest recaps are too much concises...) and Billy Douglas on OLTL (1992) as first LGBT teen in both daytime and primetime TV (I have seen all the episodes on You Tube. BTW, what a great storyline, why it was ignored by the Emmys? Andrew Carpenter and Billy's father players are both really great in their roles! Oh, well, if OLTL was not nominated for Best Drama in 1994 with Marty's gang rape story which won four major awards and was spectacular, no surprise at all - sadly) and I have read something about Azure in The City (1996) as first Trans, but I'd like to see the episode where Bernado finds out and Azure confirms what is said in that newspaper to have something to quote. I like quoting, it gives the essays more depth. I already read the biweekly recaps from Soap Opera Digest on Tumblr and single episodes recaps on IMDB, but I'd like to have more to write about. And something more about critics and public opinions - I only knows that the storyline was rapidly axed because of bad writing and bad performance by Carlotta Chung, but I have nothing to quote.   PS Thank you @JAS0N47 for your incredible and rich site (and work on it). In particular for the Nielsen ratings on weekly basis lists since 1974 and for everything about Sharon Duval - specially for the script of the confession episode dated 23 May 1977! I'm not a DAYS viewers (I'm Italian, I live in Italy and on You Tube there is almost nothing if not short videos), but I've seen some clips of Marlena's first possession (Deidre Hall is terrific in it! Storyline is garbage, but it has its chilling moments and it is funny - I laugh everytime I remember Kristen say to Marlena "according to the book of demonology"! Was she an espert of demons or what!? ) and read on Soap Opera Central daily recaps about infamous Melaswen (brainwashed Marlena has a particular sense of humor - killing ex alcoholic Maggie with a bottle of wine and Alice with her donuts...), so I know something about the soap. Little, but better than nothing.

    • Yes, they did say 27 sets!! I wondered at the time if they could all be up at the same time.
    • I'm curious the motivation for keeping Bela on beyond the circus story arc.  Did he play a character like his character on EON, or was he more of a good guy? I know he ended up with Sunny at the end of the series, but I always thought that Sunny/Hogan could have been revived once the lack of chemistry between him and the NuLiza became apparent.   Actually... the NuLiza (Louan Gideon) reminded me more of Sunny than she did Liza as played by Sherry... and she just threw off the whole vibe of the show. I see Estelle has just arrived in the late October 1985 episodes, which only means that Wendy and Stephanie are soon on their way out.   It also appears that the Sarah/Quinn/Wendy triangle was set up by Mayer.. and it looks as though Tomlin is going to deactivate it by the introduction of Colleen Dion's character.   I don't understand why no one on the show thought to look at Quinn and realize that he was the problem and write him out.
