Nuns & Priests on Soaps

More recently didn't AMC have that character who was a priest who worked with Brooke at the community center and some romance started but it turned out he was the one who drunkenly ran over her daughter Laura? The story was not popular though I did really like the character and actor.

R--Agnes' AMC featured quite a bit of basic Christian imagery too ()lotsa praying to God in old eps I have, etc)--even if I agree it wasn't as severe as under McT. I always wondered if they'd address any issues of the church and homosexuality (OLTL kinda did with the Billy Douglas story at first of course0 but of course they never did--and that would be a lot to ask for (especially in a good manner)

Loving's Jim VOlchek I think ultimately left the priesthood (though there was that whole story that I believe Agnes even penned with his rival selling his soul to the devil etc)

Not the same thing but all these shows have had a lot of religious cult leaders... particularly ti seems in the 80s

I recall Denise Alexander as a nun on Santa Barbara.Did this tie in with Fr Michael Donelly in any way?

The Brighter Day had Rev Dennis and his family as the core characters.

On ATWT Lisa got involved with Wally Matthews in the early 70's.I think he was a minister of some sort.

A question regarding Brooke and Eliot.

If he was actually Josh, the hit and run driver, how was it that Brooke did not recognise him?

Did she not know Josh back in the time he was on the show?

Stan Albers played Josh Walenski in 1988. He had been on the show as a supporting character at Pine Valley PD.

I will have to check ,but I think part of the story was how an 'ordinary Joe' could become a drunk driver/killer.

I wonder if this story was affected by the writers strike.

He later appeared on Loving as Curtis Alden.

It must have been after he was released from jail..... unless he was like Janet (given early parole by undergoing experimental surgery). I believe the Elliot story aired in 2000, and I can't remember all the details. I just remember thinking, "Poor Brooke!" First she dates a child pornographer that took nude photos of her adopted daughter, and soon after dates the drunk cop that killed her biological daughter!

Unlucky in love, much?!

More info on the Brooke /Eliot story from The AMC Pages

"When the rumors last week started to swirl about a leading male character being fired, fan speculation was fast and furious. Initial reports that the character was male and married proved to be right - and wrong. Though the performer in question is male, his character is not married.

The AMC Pages have learned that David Beecroft (Eliot) has been released from his contract. A spokesperson for ABC, while extremely pleasant and willing to answer questions on a variety of other non-related topics, was unwilling to confirm the report.

It's been no secret that the Brooke-Eliot storyline has fizzled since its inception. Shortly after Eliot revealed that he was really the man who had killed Brooke's daughter, Laura Cudahy, the storyline seemed to go nowhere. Additionally, actress Julia Barr has expressed frustration that the story has been relegated to a back-burner plot.

It is unclear why the writers decided to drop the storyline. Fans have been critical of the plot ever since the writers used jailhouse plastic surgery to explain why Eliot had a new face, one that Brooke did not remember.

Moreover, many fans were unhappy with the way the storyline had developed. Brooke and Eliot had a pinch of a relationship when Eliot revealed his secret. If the pair had developed a stronger bond and been in love, it might have made Eliot's confession more powerful. In essence, in some fans' minds, there wasn't enough oomph behind the saga to really generate feelings from the fans.

Brooke has apparently accepted, if not forgiven, Eliot's transgressions. The idea of Eliot and Brooke ever getting back together must have seemed impossible even to the writers. So, another of the men in Brooke's life will leave town. If you're keeping track, Eliot is added to a list that already includes: Dimitri, Jim Thomasen and Pierce numbers one through three.

Now comes the question of what to do with Brooke. Barr's fans have been irate over the writers neglect of her character. Barr has hopes that she and Edmund (played by John Callahan) will be able to share some more on-screen time together - even if a romance doesn't re-ignite.

Expect Beecroft's final scenes to air in mid-to-late January."

I still remember kinda liking the story and actor and being disappointed... LOL But I seem to be the only one*blush* if it was 2000 Agnes Nixonw as still there as co Head Writer although iw as pretty convinced she was largely just writing the Bianca stuff (that said it sounds like the kinda story I could picture Agnes suggesting even with the plastic surgery stuff). I don't even remember Brooke being with Dimitri! ack... I do remember at that time thinking about all the Pierce probs, and then Jim...

Paul what are the AMC pages? sound interesting.

BTW the actor has a fansite (that seems VERY out of date lol) with some pics of him in the role at http://www.darkover.it/00sb/gallery/picsamc.html I guess he was on Falcon Crest and Melrose too. Maybe I just liked the role cuz I find him hot--he kinda has an older Nathan Fillion thing going on-_i remember himw ell in his youth center gym coach track suit and counselling Gillian

Looks like he gave up screen acting after AMC
