Yeah, I totally agree. I think the fact that the studios were shut down basically just after the strike happened speaks volumes to CBS/Sony's intent in regards to the show post-strike. Latham is finished.

Thank goodness. I am still not 100% confident Josh Griffith can go this alone though. At least there is a member of the Bell family there albeit by marriage. Is it still too much to ask that when the strike is over Kay Alden comes in as co-HW or creative consultant???

Yep, plus Sally McDonald who has been there for over 15 years recently got a promotion to producer status, which Latham had no part in. Had Latham been in charge, she would've hired one of her hack friends with little experience.

I personally think Josh might leave Y&R after the strike or retire or something. His main profession has always been writing, and going Ficore gives him very little options.

I think Y&R's behind the scenes team will look very different after the strike, I'm optimistic that Latham and her team won't be back.

I do think LML would have been fired had the Writer's Strike not occurred, the Out of the Ashes storyline was a ratings disaster and was a financial mess (the show's budget was double what it usually is). LML is a flop, Sony and CBS and the Bells know it. The cast hates her (y'all know even though they proclaim their undying love for her it's just PR), the press hates her, the fans hate her, the only people who seem to love her are her staff of 18 writers...ugh...I still can't believe how bloated the writing staff is.

The Writer's Strike, as well as LML's insistence of leaving her EP gig, just accelerated her ouster. I just hope it sticks because her writing staff seems so damn sure that they'll be back to 'get things back on track' (which is interesting because Lynsey Dufour and Ms Alburger both used the same phrase, hmmmmm). Frankly, if their attitude is to be smug about their 'talents' then I say leave them on the picket line. The only writer I'd like to see back from LML's crew is Natalie Minardi Slater (who started at Y&R in '98). The rest of them can go to hell.

I too am a bit wary of Griffith...but so far so good. I too would like to see Kay Alden come back to the show as a Creative Consultant. I don't think being HW is in the cards for her, nor do I think it's what she actually wants.

Excellent post!

Yeah, her brigade of hacks seem delusional if you ask me..... and it is sick to know Natalie is basically the only writer left from the pre-Latham era. That is beyond disgusting.

Natalie might be a good choice to be promoted to part of a head writing team once the strike ends. I'd love to see the headline "Entire Y&R writing staff returns to work, only to be given their pink slips"

Who wants to bet though that Frons will hire Latham and her brigade on at one of the ABC soaps? She so fits ABC's mold....

I kind of thought there was at least one or two more, but still disgusting no matter which way you slice it.

I noticed one of those old camera transitions today (for you americans tomorrow), a door was closed and then it cut to the next scene in a different location. Oh Y&R, how I have missed thee.

Yeah Sandra Weintraub is still there but she only came aboard Y&R in 2004 so I'm not as attached to her as I am to NMS. Eric Friewald, admittedly I forgot all about him! So okay, those 3 get to stay...the other 15 get to be fired!

And oh yes I can definitely see LML going to work for ABC (specifically AMC), she's done so in the past (at PC) and we all know how much Frons likes to recycle crappy writers. Only problem is I could see her and that son of a bitch Brian Frons having major ego clashes.

    • The black and white episodes of the show are very special. An atmosphere the color run loses. Dark Shadows was filmed live-on-tape. They could do a retake but it would be very expensive. I think there was a claim that if actors wanted a retake they would curse. There was also a rumor that at one point Joan Bennett accidentally said "Hollywood" instead of "Collinwood" and that necessitated a retake.

    • Loved this IG post from Ambyr about how she and Trisha work together. You can tell these ladies go above and beyond the script, and that they really trust and enjoy working together. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DJpJufFPOQ2/?igsh=MXBmcWs0YzIwaXVhNA==

    • It is a shame that more characters didn't go the ATWT-Barbara route and make the ingénue into an antagonist. Sort of like they did with Liza/Hogan/Sunny, less successfully. It is a credit to ATWT's creativity that breathed life in that character for years after she was fighting off bulls in Spain.  But, a character like Liza can only have so many true loves and high jinks on the high seas.  They need another reason to be in the story. Liza's wealth, as well as her acumen to see through fraud, was fertile ground for tons of stories.  But, I feel like the business stories for Liza were always about her being easily overwhelmed, rather than exploring things like her leadership and managerial skills.
    • STFU!! Dante!!! This nonsense of blaming Gio is just ridiculous! Alexis and Lucky are becoming so unlikable. Why are the writers writing these characters so poorly?
    • Keith still comes off younger to me. I thought he wasn't that bad for his first day.
    • To be fair, they were only recently step-siblings.  Their parents married within the past few years.  And, Draper's father Ansel was not coy about the fact that he married Raven's mother, Nadine, for the money. And, Raven's sort of sticking it to April that not only can she have a baby (April has a heart condition that makes it difficult for her to carry a child to term), she could also have April's man, if she wanted him.
    • Keith D Robinson is 49. Maurice Johnson is 46.
    • I hope they give him more to do than just be a prick as you say. I can see how viewers would like him because the actor is so charming despite the character being such an absolute pain.    I would agree. And there was also the undercurrent of Raven and Draper sort of flirting with each other. The actors play that attraction and it worked so well in that scene.
    • Daniel Cosgrove is PERFECT as the sleezy politician. This might be my favorite role of his. All of these people keeping Kristina’s secret is so annoying. I really want her to pay.
