I loved the quiet dignity of the funeral. No mourners talking about their own little dramas....We haven't had that is such a long time!

Phillip going to Belle silently, and even squeezing Shawn's shoulder. OMB shaking Victor's hand...Did you SEE the look on Caroline and Bo's face?

When Abe slowly saluted. That did it for me!

Preview for tomorrow looks awesome!

I just got to skim the episode, i'll watch the whole thing later..But it was incredible..its jarring the differences between Hogan/Ed Scott and JER/Wyman...In the past at funerals and weddings people would get up and have their own conversations...People would be at the wedding/funeral one day and not be there the next day..But by the looks of it, everyone that was there today is on tomorrows show as well..

"I wasn't invited" - John Aniston is the man, what the hell is wrong with the show, he beats the hell out of Stefano.

Lucas punching EJ. Nice. I hate how he says "son of a..." the word is B---H Lucas. USE it.

Martha Madison was excellent, really excellent. Kirsten Storms never could have done this scene.

Suzanne Rogers is looking rather 'fresh'...perhaps that's why she's been off so long. Always love seeing her.

Sounds odd...but Lauren Koslow's little 'you're an idiot' talk with EJ was more affecting for me than the eulogies. LK showed Kate's bitterness towards her newfound reality. Another excellent performance.

The pier opening! Brilliant. Katherine Foster just proved she made Y&R's directing, rather than the other way around.

And Deirdre Hall was very nice, very restrained, very dignified, just right. Cannot wait for tomorrow's episode!

I am so HAPPY, but yet sad at the same time. I am really going to miss John so I am sad about that, but yet I am happy that I get to see Deidre Hall on my screen, front and center for 5 days in a row now. I couldn't tell the last time Marlena was on 5 days in a row. But anyway, Deidre is so good with drama. She is playing Marlena to perfection. She isn't giving us too much but she also isn't giving us too little. Every emotion that she has, at the time that she has them is just so appropriate for the moment. All I can say is WOW. Wake up EMMY people!!! Deidre has been snubbed too many times and I can take it any more. Nominate her and give her the damn emmy already!!!!!!!!!!!

And Martha, Oh My God!! That girl can act her butt off. Belle needs to be a lead character and not a supporting character. I see Martha Madison as the one to carry on the show when Kristian and Deidre are no longer on DAYS. She definitely has a wide range when it comes to her acting. She needs an emmy for LEAD character even though she has a better chance of winning for supporting. Wake up EMMY people!!!

I agree with what everyone said, the show was excellent!!!! And I love that there are no more "hazy" flashbacks. I hated that!!!!!

Only one minor quibble, although I love Kristian Alfonso and Hope, she is actually my true favorite on the show; but I think Hope went a little overboard in her dramatics! She seemed more upset than Belle and Marlena put together!

Like everyone else, I loved the show today. It was so beautiful and so heartbreaking. The eulogies were perfect, both in acting and dialogue. I loved Victor showing up uninvited and eulogizing John anyway....I miss him! He's such a powerful, commanding character and we need a bad guy besides Stefano. Martha is breaking my heart over and over again! Hope--"I can't be strong today"....Anna--"thanks for taking care of my little girl"....Abe--"good-bye my partner, my friend" and then the salute...so much goodness! And, of course, Marlena--so beautiful, so regal, so tragic...it makes my heart hurt to watch her.

In the midst of all this wonderful, emotional drama, my Roman conspiracy theories are once more swirling around in my brain. I can't put my finger on it, but he just seems "off".

what a great episode, the writing, directing and acting were all amazing. Who says Hogan Sheffer cant write, when he wants to, it is amazing. Why cant he write like this all the time, great balance today, the least 5 days was amazing.

Martha Madison,Kristian Alfonso, Deidre Hall, James Reynoids were the stars to me. I loved that stephanie and chelsea was their to show some respect for John even Jett.

I loved everything about todays show. WOW Great history today too. I was stunned when i saw the pier from 1991 as the opening. Who says sheffer doesnt use history, he does and quite well.

    • Oh wow! She's only 15, but I guess with shorter streaming seasons that might not be an issue.    Her dad, Dean Armstrong, played Blake on Queer as Folk (US) btw.
    • I hadn't thought of this and this is a great call out!
    • Imagine the possibilities if Mary was the politically correct moral center of the Loves and clashed with Donna over her snobby socialite tendencies (once the re-recast was done).
    • Show starts soon. Wonder if we will get the Voice saying "The role of Ted Richardson is now being played by Keith Robinson" and if they'll update the intro
    • I initially thought BTG was going for the Duprees being (somewhat) like the Kennedy family- wealthy and politically influential. And Martin's accident being like how Chappaquiddick (Link) caused Ted Kennedy to cancel his plans to run for president in the 1970s.  (He ran in 1980 but didn't get the nomination). But now it seems to have more layers that that, so I have no idea.
    • The episodes uploaded today by the YT channel have been done through the end of November 1985 and what a mess we have in the Liza/Sunny/Hogan/Lloyd/Estelle story. I think it would have been easier to gradually bring Hogan/Sunny back together.. maybe even addressing the toxic situation and trying to work through it.   Unrelated to all that, I see that Gary Tomlin has attempted to reset the show to where it was when he left at the end of 1983.  He really seems obsessed with regressing Wendy as a character after the progress/evolution of her character post 1983.. with her sleeping with her mother's new boyfriend.   Based on what I've watched of the show online... the one consistency was the mother/daughter relationship between Stephanie/Wendy... and even though Stephanie was recast, I think violating that relationship was a mistake. I can see why Tomlin didn't last long in this stint as head writer.

    • I don't think that would be the reason tbh. Thinking about it, it's probably storyline related - I could see bio mom / dad eventually turning up (or maybe it's June as speculated) and wanting the children back. I could also see it being a part of the fall-out of Martin's secret being revealed now that he's backed down from a presidential campaign - his and Smitty's ability to be parents comes into question, which the bio parents use. They might've wanted the kids to be at a age where they could reliably speak for themselves what they prefer, but also have enough memories of their bio parent(s) not doing a good job. I'd also think that they might want to avoid having the image of this gay couple keeping a mother away from her small children, as it might skew the viewer to sympathise too much in one direction.
