The Should-Be Pre-Nominations: 2008 Daytime Emmy Award

Wait, what??? How do you not see Bobbie Eakes (Krystal, AMC) as a Lead Actress nominee?

She was on FIRE during Babe's 'death' - and then the breakup with Adam - and then while Jenny was kidnapped by Janet. She was Lead in all those storylines...we saw her world fall apart. The episode where she held a gun on Adam is totally her Emmy-reel, along with breaking down at Babe's funeral. That woman deserves the Emmy this year!

I don't agree. I am fine with everything the way it is. I actually think the Younger Category should be expanded to the age of 30. But that's JMO. I don't feel that we need episode number limitations.

I disagree. I think Cam was awesome when he found Spike after the car accident. Cam has already notched up two supporting actor nominations. I wouldn't be surprised if he got a third. Bobbie Eakes is definetely lead actress material. I see no other lead actress that has had emmy material on AMC this year. Lucci IMO hasn't done much of anything this year....

I agree on David Canary. I think Alicia would be lucky to get a nomination at this point of her career. She's like the Laura Wright of AMC.

Alexa was on fire for the first half of this year. Anything from January to late May/June could suffice in a nomination for Supporting Actress.

GH has a lot of supporting thespians to choose from, including Tyler Christopher, John Ingle, Nancy Lee Grahn, Anthony Geary, just to name a few. Talk about competition. I wish the nomination process allowed for an unlimited amount of thespians to be nominated in the acting categories. Remember when ATWT had 3 supporting actors & 3 supporting actresses earlier this decasde (2002?). If they good, show appreciation. If a certain show has the 5 best actors in a certain category, then every one of them should be nominated.

Does anyone believe other shows deserve to be nominated?

People always complain when the nominations are announced every year in March. So, why don't they want stiffer & improved rules at the Daytime Emmys so it may regain its credibility?

I shouldn't have listed Lucci b/c she would never in a million years submit herself in anything other than Lead. To her, it's Lead or bust. Julia Barr was different. When she was supporting, she choose Supporting...and won. I feel Jess Walton will submit herself in the Supporting category b/c her is supporting & her chances of winning will be much greater. She'll have a hard time being pre-nominated in Lead. That race is b/w MTS, Cooper, Case, and Stafford.

GH for writing & directing but not for Drama Series? I don't think Watkins stands a chance b/c he's hardly been on this year & the supporting categories are always competitive. Hickland is not a lock- her story just began in September, so I'll wait and see. How old is MC Egan? She may be too old for Younger Actress. AMC for directing? I think it'll be GH, ATWT, GL, Y&R & OLTL.

I agree with this entire post.

Alicia has been phenomenal this year. She has been amazing in years past as well but this she has been phenomenal. Thorsten has also been amazing this year also, but to me the stand out on AMC this year is Alicia, by far.

Sorry but Bobbie is just not lead material in my book. She just is not my cup of tea. JMO.

    • Another character driven show with interconnecting plots that make sense. I like that we go from one character, like Sarah, learning that EJ wants to buy the hospital, casually mentioning it to Xander who now has that intel. The only down today was not seeing Steve and Shawn breaking into the lab. I wonder if Dr Poofy Hair will inform EJ about Xander's call. I loved Abe talking to Chanel about losing Isaac and giving her comfort. And helping her voice her fears about Johnny. Kayla standing up to EJ is great. Kayla, freed from Ron, has been great. I am loving all her air time. And Sarah telling her that EJ must be up to something if he wants the hospital is very smart. She would probably clue in to the sepsis research being the big thing if she wasn't choking to death. I assume Felicity messed up the scones and dropped in cleaning fluid or something. Sarah said it tasted weird. They are never getting that honeymoon, are they? Xander has no clue what job Johnny can do. Johnny knows this too. Xander wants to legitimize his takeover by hiring a Dimera. Johnny wants to stick it to EJ. The honesty is refreshing. I want to like Cat and Chad but they are just so awkward. And none of their scenes work for me. Marlena and EJ was very good. I like her wanting to help him but also scared to death for Belle. Makes perfect sense that she is conflicted. I also liked her softly asking Johnny if he needed her to stay once EJ walked in. Ron never cared about this relationship either, but now she is acting like his granny.
    • Sorry, catching up, and the bolded part, yes! Should have been sued by DH's family for that nasty sh*t too   Anywho, back to the show, Kristina is freaking nuts, she needs to be committed ASAP
    • Angry Dante was hot; sorry, but I'm not going to pretend it wasn't awesome seeing Dominic Zamprogna act his ass off in a way that was not crying.
    • Thanks, interesting and so believable (no Lonatrat or Clones...)Instead of the Lewis family he should have made the Oil family Granger...even if the audience didn't remember that one off character it would have been interesting to tie it into the fictional GL world.
    • Dante needs stick removed from his butt
    • When you bring up what I like to call "Shapiro's Folly" you think Dano's acting choices mattered? I ask because I don't think so. As far as I could tell almost universally the ABC fans hated the very idea of her being on all 4 shows! And, BTW, the headwriters also hated it, at least according to comments made by Passanante. But, it is not hard to imagine that they'd feel that way. And, I agreed. If she wanted success she should have planted "Rae" on one & given up her idea of branding, or whatever it was that she was after.
    • Okay, well her reasons were that she had a mandate to reduce the size of the cast & she had another mandate to make the cast overall younger, so her reason for picking Donna to off was because she was too old.  So, is that what you understand? Or are you thinking of something else? Which if so, I would be delighted to hear about it!  She had arbitrarily picked 50 as the age people needed to be younger than.  And, that is why she got rid of both Bridget & Spencer Harrison.  And, getting rid of Bridget was another of her horrible ideas.  Why do you refer to her as the Face of the Show? Don't feel bad. I am a major Cass fan & I don't remember him with Donna either, LOL! Can we say forgettable? And, yes, Lila was the most last minute of last minutes!!!!
    • This is AWESOME, thank you for taking the time to post this! My first thought: My memory is a lot better than I thought it was, LOL! The first episode I clearly remember watching had a scene of Ed confronting Holly about Christina's paternity. He lamented how wonderful things had been over Christmas, so looks like I started watching the show early 1976. The only thing puzzling me is where is Evie? I thought she was around BEFORE Rita got involved with Tim, but maybe that's one gap in my memory. It makes Rita look slightly better--in that case, she didn't seduce Tim knowing her sister had a crush on him.
    • Oh, well.  At least he can cry into his hoodie.
