Yeah, I agree but it hasn't been that long since Borna returned. I think that Mannarino is a bit more match tough and better conditioned right now. From what I managed to see of the match, Borna misplayed a few key points in that final set and that sealed his fate.

Yes he did. I thought he was going to let it slip like he did with Nadal. I love that he was very animated during the match. I am sure John completely lost it after the match. John is one awful returner. All his matches end up in tie breakers because all he has is that serve.

They both looked exhausted after the match.

Yesterday, during the Woz/Mugu match, Mary Carillo went in about OCC. She talked about how it makes women look weak and pathetic needing a man to rescue them. She mentioned how bad it makes coaches look that they can't coach their pupil to problem solve. Carillo said if you can't figure out how to win, then you're supposed to lose the match. She also mentioned that the WS don't use it. Patrick, Serena's coach, said long ago that he doesn't want any part of OCC.

I agree 3,000 % with Carillo. Mugu certainly proved Mary right and the only reason she retired from that match is because she lost the first set. Wasn't willing to fight thru a third, especially since Woz makes you hit 50 extra balls each point. Can't stand Mugu!

Although I can never call myself a fan of Carillo, she is absolutely right about OCC. There are more reasons to dislike it other than the ones she stated though. ESPN who pushed the concept, wanted to promote it as though it was somehow edifying for the TV audience watching at home. It doesn't add anything but annoyance to my viewing experience. I wanted to get rid of it from the first year and I haven't changed my views.

I hate the fact that Steve Simon wants to dig in even more, hinting that he'd like to see coaching done from the stands, which I think will be even more of a mess!

Can he just sort out the streaming mess for the WTA before women's tennis loses most of the loyal fanbase they have now? Just, sigh.

    • Ashley just wants to schtup Andre. She needed to create a big meltdown in order to get rid of Derek and feel no guilt. Doug needed to lay Joey out on the floor. He needs to get some courage and beat Joey down to the ground. Kat turning down a date with Tomas to see if Eva was locked up is a sign she's going to lose him. Even without Eva in the picture she was going to have problems. The way she talked to him when he bumped into her and she didn't know it was him seemed to be a red flag too. Leslie has revealed a whole lot of the truth on her own. Without her making all those comments to Kat she wouldn't have ended up at the police station.

    • TBH the only soap I remotely liked Cady on was ATWT   I dunno WTH she's doing with Pamela on this show but it's cringe beyond words

) Anyways... I did really feel disgusted by Eurovision this year and I doubt I'll watch this horrific musical torture in the future. My ears and my psyche will not survive.
    • Regarding the mobster storyline: The scripts, the cardroom set, and the writing for Joey -- are all terrible. They seem to be writing a realistic depiction of compulsive gambling as an addiction, showing that it pops into his head all the time -- it has become hardwired into his brain.  The APA (American Psychological Association) describes compulsive gambling as having a similar effect on the physical brain as drug and alcohol addiction. https://www.apa.org/monitor/2023/07/how-gambling-affects-the-brain I think Jason Graham (Doug) is doing an adequate job playing Doug as a compulsive gambler, with the thoughts/urges coming into his head all the time, and being unable to stop. However, the cardroom set is awful and the mobster storyline is a bad cliché, so it's all so uninteresting to watch. I think Mr. Graham is doing the best he can with the crap they gave him to work with. If anyone reading or watching has a gambling issue, check out Gamblers Anonymous.  They have many types of meetings -- in-person, online, video, audio, etc.  They also have resources for friends/family of compulsive gamblers.
    • Today was painful (especially for Philip).  I still feel for Xander. He was clear he was happy sharing and working with Philip. It's just one more betrayal from someone he loved. Going back to last year when he found out about Victor and Fiona, then Alex and Philip. He forgave and tried. Then Philip went behind his back again. He's been walking on the edge for weeks. This is a man who was abused, neglected and has never had any therapy for his horrific past. He has zero coping skills because he's never learned them. I hate this but I refuse to hate Xander
