Yeah, sometimes I forget that some of these names can be a mouthful.  Being a longtime tennis fan has certainly helped me approach pronouncing names from all over the globe with gusto.

Russian names aren't that bad for me, it's actually the Thai and Indonesian names that sometimes make me have to catch my breath.

The commentators are often very inconsistent. I’ve heard Kuznetsova pronounced “kooz-NET-suh-vuh” more commonly but also “kooz-net-SOH-vuh.” They often referred to Polona Hercog as “hur-COG” when it’s apparently more like Werner Herzog “hurt-ZOG.” I heard a lot of “moo-goo-ROOZ-uh” before “moo-goo-RUTH-uh” became the standard.

Ugh. I can’t embed social media or images on the site today.

But someone on Twitter said the folks in San Jose put together such a great field. But with Madison, CoCo, and Garbiñe all withdrawing; Serena’s early loss; Venus’s defeat in the QFs; and Vika’s injury, they have a lackluster Sakkari/Buzarnescu final.

My gosh, people hate Danielle Collins on Twitter. America’s sweetheart she is not.

De Minaur showed a lot of heart last night, but he’s not seasoned enough to have an impact on someone like Sascha on a big stage. I see a lot of promise, though. He’s only 19 at the end of the day. He could play another 20-25 years the way sports medicine is advancing.

Svetlana Kuznetsova, folks. I felt bad for Donna for imploding after holding four match points, but Sveta has had a rough year with the wrist injury.

Question: why do the women’s champions at the Citi Open get this little metal drinks’ tray while the men’s champs get this massive sculpture of a trophy? Lame.

    • March 27, 2025 - GH Sherilyn Wolter (Celia Quartermaine) visited Emma Samms (Holly Sutton Scorpio).  They are friends in real life.
    • Poor Philip. I appreciate how seriously his and Xander’s scenes were taken though. It felt like real drama and not like a big joke. You could actually feel Xander’s pain and anger. It adds another dynamic to the Kiriakis family storylines and I’m looking forward to the effects that this is going to have across the canvas. I can see them weaving Kate and Roman into this storyline as well. And it would be really nice if this somehow helped cause conflict for Stephanie/Alex too, especially because of what Alex did today. With any luck, Stephanie will be furious about it.  And I’m glad that Sarah has Maggie to confide in about her secret. I also liked seeing Steve and Shawn (and their matching jackets

) continue to be on the case. Kevin, revealing everything to them is another interesting turn in this storyline. Plus, it seems the writing has improved for Shawn as well.
    • TBF, I don't think we've seen her interact enough with the "have-nots" to know if she is or isn't. It's possible, but I don't think you can say that from her interactions with Eva and Silkpress.
    • You're right - though I did confuse his name with an actual actor who was on Dynasty.

    • "Might" is not "is". And I was talking about the specific case about her attitude to Eva.
    • But she can still be a priveliged elitist. She might have the same attitude to anyone from 'the wrong side of the tracks' whether they had an agenda or not. Nicole seems to be an outlier in her family. Her parents, kids and sister seem to think themselves above reproach.
