It did, but it finished at the Coronation Massacre. And it was more like two months behind than two years.

The Bold and the Beautiful aired in the UK, where it started out really far behind (they started airing the first episodes in like 1997), but the last year it was shown, they skipped forward to only being like two years behind.

Yeah B&B started on Five in 1997 (though it ran on cable for years before that). The episodes were from 1994 when Ridge and Brooke had their beach wedding. By early 2000 when Sunset Beach finished, Five decided to relaunch B&B at the same time and fast forwarded from 1997 eps (the last ep was Sheila turning up on Maggie's doorstep to claim her baby back) to early 1999 -- Amber was pregnant with Rick's baby. Five cancelled the show around July 2001 with eps from just before CJ and Becky's wedding. Cable channel Living picked it up in January 2002 from that point and then ditched it just after Morgan got carted off to jail.

DOOL had a similar story after years on cable. Five picked it up to replace Sunset Beach in March 2000 and the first eps were from New Years with Bo killing Gina at the Penthouse Grille. It ended in 2001 with the Coronation Massacre.

2003 and 2004 were pretty excellent for Y&R, so I think it has a shot. For GL, at least they aren't starting now, lol. I believe that'll be Ellen Weston's run which I found exciting and fun as a new viewer. With John Conboy, they didn't have the poor production values they have now. That could work as well.

As I said I don't have the channel but from what I read elsewhere, the it started this morning.

DOOL began with an episode from May 2001 when Tuscany blew up. Y&R was the beginning of 2003 - I think there were New Years celebrations and Eva Longoria is still around. GL was Thanksgiving 2003 though I don't know what the stories were.

    • no argument here! and as she was singing, i kept wondering how many verses ‘amazing grace’ had. looked it up: 13 — 13! — and i think she must have sung  every one.
    • Yasss, ANITA!!! GET HER!!!   Awww at Smitty calming Martin down.   'Oh, you're the one leaving.' That face like stone. Go 'head, Nicole.    Eva vs Kat...the gift that keeps giving.
    • I have to admit I still have a nagging complaint about timelines - Why aren't we allowed to know how long Ted and Nicole have been married or how old Kat and Eva are? Or for that matter, when Anita last released an album? BTG is a new show with no SORAS or timewarping. MVJ and Guza are working from a fresh bible. There is no need to be so coy about ages and anniversaries, especially when most of the storylines are driven by past events.
    • It was an extremely rare interview even then - I was shocked when I read it (as mentioned I'd forgotten just how far in she went). You could see how hurt and annoyed she was. I'm surprised he thought she came up with the baby story herself. She and Charles Keating did a good job with the material but it was absolute hokum. Even if they loved Carl and Rachel (and clearly they did), I don't see them coming up with stuff that, frankly, read like Geocities fan fic. Malone was clearly hobbled by NBC and P&G, but re-using so many of his old stories and his soap bible instead of actually coming up with material suited to the characters or show did not help.
    • Seeing this trash get good ratings says nothing good about daytime audiences. It's embarrassing.
    • Cat does feel committed to being a goofball (the other term has been reconsidered in recent years).  I wonder, given her brother Aaron, if Cat was less attractive prior to the surgery?  Remember the 1973 movie The Girl Most Likely to?  My fanfic for the moment is Cat commenting on how people treat her differently now that she is gorgeous.  One assumes that pre-surgery, Cat never had two men fighting over her for a date.  So, it might be fun to see that side of the story.
    • It's probably one of the only conflicts the story will have, aside from Dante being upset with Lulu when the truth comes out. They really needed someone else who actually knows Gio is Dante and Brook Lyn's son and kept quiet.
    • So Cat wasn't a creation of Ron C.. but something that the strike writers generated? Perhaps the new writers will give her some layers and purpose on the show that doesn't revolve around Chad since isn't he on his way out next year?
    • Another good show today, but -- Why is super agent Joss holding that thumb drive in plain sight instead of stashing it in her denim shorts? Make it make sense. -- Dante going after Gio (in the previews) for Rocco's alcohol poisoning is lame and cliche, just a contrived way to drive a wedge between father and son.
    • Didn't he get all angry because the strike writers set her up to be Abigail? And he just went with the first thing that came to mind in order to prevent that?
