^I second that. Michael looks-over-talent Bruno confirms every horrible cliche about soap casting. Not to mention, nothing ever becomes of the people who win the competitions. Not on the soaps, at least. Therefore the show can't live up to it's name. It's one thing to star on a soap, but that doesn't make you a soap star! The first guy who won was on Ugly Betty last season, but that only goes to show how GH let his potential slip through their fingers. Don't even get me started on that wooden winner who wound up on OLTL. Yikes!

The 1st winner of SoapStar got a raw deal. They didn't know what to do with him. He spent almost a year as a glorified extra before having his own little story before he was written off (involving Maxie, Jesse and some temp character).

Alec Musser so far is the most "successful" SoapStar. He's been on contract with AMC since winning and his character enjoyed his fair share of airtime. Enough to let you know he was there without being overbearing.

Mikey Jerome sucked and I dunno why he won. Valentini must have had a sick hard on for him b/c he was lame and should never have won.

However Shamika Cotton has a recurring role on the hit HBO show "The Wire," and BethAnn Bonner is on contract with OLTL as Talia. BethAnn was a favorite of mine and I'm glad she ended up on OLTL. I think the show realized what a mistake they made and hired BethAnn to try and get people to forget about Mikey Jerome.

I'm looking forward to this season and I hope they pick someone good.

I thought it was pretty good. So far, I like all the girls. Some of the guys act like they are only in it for the money and to use daytime as a springboard to bigger things. I know that is reasonable but alot of the girls seem to care alot about acting and the genre so I am on board with that. We'll see. I need to see more before determining a favorite.

Hoagie and MBE are good as judges. I thought she would be too sweet but she is critical enough to get by really. Hogan is just great. He is respectful but tells it like it is. Bruno annoys me because everything is about looks with him. It's gives soaps a bad rep when he says things like that. Ugh.

Good start though. Enjoyed seeing the Days sets and can't wait to see some Days cast members on.

They need to let Corey go and spare him any further time wasting. No one with his looks is going to win the competition, let alone be the "leading man" Michael Bruno covets. Men of color don't really get quirky parts like David Vickers or Henry Coleman either.

Do the glasses make Hogan Sheffer's eyes appear to be very close together? I keep thinking he's Kathleen Widdoes' long lost twin.

I love Travis!

The guy who just wants to use soaps as a stepping stone to a movie career (can't remember his name; I think he's the one with the tattoos)--eliminate him first. It makes me mad when actors make statements like that; soaps are hard work and there are a lot of extremely talented actors in daytime. Don't say things denigrating the genre just because you have an overly inflated opinion of yourself.

I couldn't believe the judges didn't call the girl who totally forgot her line and then when asked about it, she laid the blame on her partner. That rubbed me the wrong way. What was so bad about saying, "yes I forgot my line when given my cue"? The show is supposed to be a learning exercise as well as a competition. I felt bad for the liar's partner. She didn't feel bad at all for doing what she did. That witch is cold.
