Welcome_to_Llanview.jpg

Welcome to the One Life to Live Discussion Thread for the week of August 6th, 2007. It looks to be another fun week on OLTL. Also continuing this week, OLTL will reference the number 10,000 in each episode. See if you can find it. Hope you enjoy your visit and are prepared to discuss the interworkings of Llanview, PA and OLTL. If so, then you're in the right place.

So let the discussion of the good, bad, and ugly that is Llanview, Pennsylvania & One Life to Live begin...

For the first time in a long time, I really enjoyed some Viki/Dorian scenes. I saw a glimpse of the "real" Dorian today and I hope it keeps up. I loved that David sent Viki a postcard as well as Dorian, and it made Viki laugh. This woman needs to be happy for a change.

I actually liked the Clint and Sarah stuff as well, having Nigel in there was so much fun to watch, and I hope to see more of him even after Asa's passes.

Rex, Adriana and John were quite funny, and then I enjoyed the Talia and John stuff back at the station.

Natalie and Renee together were a real treat and I loved that they both talked about their checkered past and giving others a second chance. Now to see how Natalie convinces her mother to let Miles stay at the Carriage House.

I am really enjoying NuSarah. Loved Nat and Renee as well as Viki and Dorian. I get the feeling that all hell is about to break loose story wise....and I mean that in a good way!

Does anyone else think that the constant mentions on Tina means anything? It seems that the Andrea Evans door has closed, but could we be getting a re-cast?

Not a bad start to the week. Maybe it's just that I've been in more of a soap opera mood lately but this is the fourth day I haven't fast forwarded anything. John still drives me crazy with his posing, and his stubborness (I still find him searching Rex's place kinda a leap). Still most of the scenes were well scripted and a lot of cute little moments--loved the classic Dorian zinger of her praising Clint for suggesting Sara do good honest work when she was just saying David didn't need that, etc.

I actually enjoyed today's episode even though not much of interest really happened--liked the Nora/Cole stuff and really liked the Natalie/Vicki stuff. While I think Natalie is being kinda, well, inane I loved her calling her mom on the hypcocricy around Todd (who has endangered Natalie's life at least 3 times) and Vicki admitting to it.

    • Thursday & Friday's episodes were excellent. The build-up was most definitely worth the wait (2 months). TMG, I can't give her enough accolades. AM, was also absolutely incredible. I think the fallout is going to have a ripple effect. The little clues that have been dropped,  hopefully, will weave seamlessly to reveal even bigger bombshells for the Dupree's and Martin.
    • Thanks, msn drives me nuts on the one hand but on the other hand their headlines appeal to me. And, I just don't do FoxNews.  She is trolling this thread.
    • The link doesn't work.  The actual link is this: https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/composer-leonard-bernstein-s-children-request-his-music-be-played-in-the-kennedy-center-in-rebuke-to-trump/ar-AA1E7gw5 That's a reprint of a FoxNews article. MSN reprints stuff from many sources. You can tell the source from the logo above the headline on the msn page. The FoxNews article is describing what Leonard Bernstein's children wrote -- as a "letter to the editor" of the New York Times. Instead of reading it filtered through FoxNews, here is the original: "Our Dad, Leonard Bernstein, Would Want His Music Played at the Kennedy Center" https://www.nytimes.com/2025/05/02/opinion/kennedy-center-leonard-bernstein-protest.html Non-paywall archived copy of the same NYTimes letter, without commentary: https://archive.is/QaLqD
    • Might be a long shot, because I can't find a thing online about it, but I was Googling the actress that played Nell Cleary (Frank's cop friend that went through academy and then became cops together during the entire Brent Lawrence storyline). To my surprise, she passed away in 2011, at the very young age of 45. I can't find her obituary or anything online about her passing, but I'm curious, does anyone know what happened? Her IMDB only shows a few other acting gigs post-Guiding Light, so she didn't make a career out of it, but I thought she was a great actress in her role as Cleary. Her name was Mary Peterson.
    • What was Ruth Martin's association to the Thornton family?  I only remember the daughter that dated Tad, and she had a buxom mother.  But, did Ruth date David Thorton before Joe?

Why didn't Steve respect Monica and Jeff's decision?  I get he's Jeff's father, and that's how it came out, but I don't like the ethics of the story. A stranger gets to make life or death decisions over a wife's demands?   I hope Monica secretly never forgave Steve's chauvinism.
    • Question: Jon-Michael Reed's review of 1977 is up in the retro soap section.  It includes a fleeting reference to comedic scenes between Jeanne Cooper and Julianna McCarthy regarding “Kay's would-be beau, Ralph the Plumber”.  Could someone please fill me in will more details? I forgot that Kay and Liz were friendly before Jill stole Kay's husband.  And the thought of Liz playing a comedic scene blows my mind, because I only recall her being dour both in demeanor and wardrobe.
    • I said this on Twitter on Friday when Leslie mentioned Chicago, so perhaps she might be related to one of Anita's bandmates. In addition, Leslie did say she grew up listening to The Articulettes too.
    • There was a scene in the past week or two with Leslie looking at some papers and mementos, which included an invitation or souvenir from Alan's memorial service or funeral -- it was dated as November 2024. Me just guessing but it seems to me that Martin's nightmares about the accident are from something longer ago than November.
    • ah thanks! do you know who the third one was in the blonde? the fifth one i know ive seen before in the brown wig but i forgot, and then ive never seen the psychic one before lol
