Members Y&RWorldTurner
I still think B&B killing off Caroline Spencer was a stupid thing to do. She was such a popular character in the early days of the show, and Joanna Johnson was stunningly beautiful!
Members heatherwebber
I agree. When Caroline was around the story (still going on!) had more people in the mix and more balance, more personality, more everything. When it became the same re-tread: Brooke/Ridge, Ridge/Brooke, over & over, back & forth, never-ending, it became a complete mess. Thorne had a lot more to do back then as well. You know something is seriously askew when then bring a major character back- Donna- and she shows up in town doing nothing but saying "Ridge Ridge Ridge Ridge Ridge" for several days. Then goes on to do nothing but obsess with Ridge, Ridge & Brooke or Ridge for herself. Of course now she's back-burnered along with Felicia and everyone else who isn't propping up Ridge-Brooke or the Taylor-Nick-Brooke business or that other horrible mess involving annoying Phoebe. Members Limenade
Thanks for the post--great trip down the memory lane... BTW, long-time lurker here--this is my 1st post. Other than the Betty White episodes, I haven't watched BB in a long time, but I did watch it fairly faithfully when it first came on. I adored Joanna Johnson, but it took me a while to warm up to her. Her 1st story--interrupted wedding with Ridge--was a bit lame. But she outdid herself later in the rape story. I love Carrie Mitchum--great actress--and don't remember why she was written off. I believe behind the scene she was dating one of Bill Bell's sons. Members edgeofnik
Killing Carolyn off was a mistake, although I seem to recall that's what brought HT to the show to help Ridge with his grief. I wasn't really watching much when JJ returned as her long-lost twin sister, Karen, but that story seemed to be a total bust.
Members Y&RWorldTurner
It's been a dream of mine to have Joanna back on B&B for a long time. She was truly like the heart and soul of the show during the first few years and she made Ron Moss' acting so much more bearable. IMO, Caroline was the true love of Ridge's life, he never seemed to love anyone as much as he loved her; Ridge and Caroline were so meant to be. I know JJ's comeback as Caroline's long lost twin sister Karen was a major bust, but I'd welcome Karen back if meant a long-term return for Joanna Johnson. Also, looking at this episode ranking made me realize just how much more balanced B&B used to be. After 98 or so, a lot of the structure of the show was gone. They phased out way too many non-Forresters and the show became too homogenized, some of the outside characters need to be restored.
Members operagirl1
Somewhere in those 20 episodes is a very young Dan Gauthier as an extra.
Members sheilaforever
Cool - didn't know that. Also in the very first episodes a young Sarah Buxton was an extra at Griffey's, the local café where the Logans hung out.
