4 months is not that bad. Trying going years without several vets getting a storyline. If you have watched AMC, GL, ATWT, OLTL, and GH for the last few years, you will be amazed at the amount of vets that have been phased out or are on recurring with no story or are even on contract and have no story. And it has been that way for years. It is way worse than what happen with Bope and J&M. Much, much worse.

I am just chalking up the beginning of 2007 as an experiment gone wrong. It's like Corday and Hogie mixed some new elements together and it exploded, blowing their fingers off and spraying gore everywhere (ie: ratings tanking). Right now they are scrambling, gathering their fingers and attempting to stop the bleeding.

Well, I do, of course *g* (although I adore Bo & Hope and love John) but I don't expect everyone else to. And that's okay. It's why we need balance. Something for everyone :)

It helps that Stephen Nichols is a stronger actor than Reckell or Hogestyn. I didn't really like Steve & Kayla the first time around, honestly, Steve especially. But I'm really enjoying Nichols and Steve this time around.

I would take all three, thanks. There's a reason most fans want balance. :)

And just a word of advice- generally typing it all caps is regarding as yelling in the cyber world, and considered pretty rude. If you try to not type in all caps, I'd appreciate it. B)

Thanks for all the little stories from the event!

I dont feel steve and Kayla this run.SN is a strong actor but I thought he did some over acting during his crazy!Steve scenes.MBE I havent Felt at all since she returned, which is a shame cause I do think she's a great actreess.maybe it was just the storyline.

I've felt the same way, except for the occasional moments, xDayAddict. The same thing that happened to our other favorite golden girl (Jennifer). Save for a few bright spots, she sleptwalked her last tenure on the show, and I've seen little to show Kayla's going to be any different and that sucks. I love the character of Kayla. She's so fun to write for if you USE her right. This story was bad, no doubt, so hopefully they'll get better stuff.

they completly wasted Missy's talent and did nothing with her.DH started with making Jennifer nothing but a talk show host and JER killed the character by taking away her personality, making her a boring tea making stay at home mom who whines and does nothing active.not to mention the frankie crap that completly made no sense and I couldnt even defend Jennifer on it (Like I did during the episodes she slept with colin).I'm so glad Missy took her vacation time and told them she isnt staying a day longer.

anyway, back to steve and Kayla lol.. I am waiting to see if good writing can save them.and I'm just waiting for MBE to give some great acting I believe, not some laughable Emotional scenes I roll my eyes at.

This is good news. I had a feeling we would see more Steve/Kayla then we all thought. I also remember Wyman saying somewhere else that Days was going to be 80-like. I am so excited for this summer. Can't wait. The show needs balance and I am happy this fan campaign succeeded.

MBE's second time around has been much better then Missy. I love Missy but I did not agree with her decision to phone it in for the majority of her last year on Days (with the exception of June 1006-her exit, where she was superb). I know she hated JER and I agree with her frustration but she is actress and it's her job to do her best. SN and MBE did what they could with the "pawn" story and they were excellent.

Also, those stories were interesting. Thanks for posting :)

If you look at episode rankings that's really not true. They're near the bottom of the top 10 for the year. Regardless, I don't think it requires someone to be off-canvas or backburnered to recognize that better balance/use of characters would benefit the show.

    • I think Nicole is about to figure out what's going on between Andre and Dani.
    • @Efulton thank you. I don't know how I missed it or didn't recall it.  I'll blame amnesia . Anyway @Errol Could the newer thread be merged to the existing? Thanks in advance.
    • I just finished watching and I have to admit, not once did I find myself wondering who wasn't there. Quick question for anyone who followed this better than I did: was it only Andrew who rescued Cat and John from Clyde, or was Shane involved too? The reactions during their scenes today felt a little off to me. I know it was meant to be vague, but I didn't find it strange that they already knew each other.
    • Yeah, financially, Luna is in better shape than Deacon and Sheila.   -- Scott Clifton must have decided to chew the scenery in every scene of this "Liam is Dying" storyline. Yikes.
    • If J.R. wasn't busy with Ewing Oil, he'd be a heckuva soap recapper. He was SO gleeful at recapping Jenna-Bobby-Pam when the trio and Mark encountered each other at the Oil Baron's Ball. That being said, Lucy, presumably Sue Ellen and maybe Ray should all know this story, or at least part of it. Lucy was definitely at Southfork during Jenna and Bobby's relationship, and I believe Sue Ellen was about to marry J.R. around the time Jenna jilted Bobby. (Ray might not have given a damn.)

    • Broadcasting Magazine (May 5, 1980) : Future US-Next TV : Free Download, Borrow, and Streaming : Internet Archive From a May 1980 Broadcasting issue: Meredith Broadcasting in association with Alan Sloan Inc has committed itself to produce series of five half hours in soap opera form, "designed for youngers 11-14 and their parents." Programs, yet untitled, "will deal with problems teen-agers face in their relationships with peers and parents," with script topics reviewed in advance by teachers, psychologists and others. First episode is to air on Meredith's five TV's in September and ground broadcaster also anticipates syndication. If successful, idea is to go to full-fledged series.
    • Broadcasting Magazine (May 5, 1980) : Future US-Next TV : Free Download, Borrow, and Streaming : Internet Archive Looking at an old Broadcast issue with a fall schedule preview. Their description of the show: Lorimar Productions turns its cameras "below the surface of a small, traditional, thriving college town still large controlled by its founders, the Millingtons." Plot elements include "nurtured dreams, closely-held desires, closeted shame and vital truths about friends and family." Lee Rich, Michael Filerman and David Jacobs are executive producers of the Roundelay production, in association with Lorimar.  They also mention the show in a small section about advertising's point of view.  Advertising agency reaction to the new fall line-ups announced by ABC and CBS last week varied. But upfront, some agency types were apprehensive that their advertisers might be turned off by some of the new "titillating" entries. "I'm concerned about the amount of permissiveness," said one executive, with CBS' Secrets of Midland Heights commonly mentioned as one possible offender.
    • I just saw this. Thanks for sharing. The classic Y&R thread may enjoy your posts. It was in very poor taste for Andy Cohen to blindside MTS with that type of question, but I'm not surprised as he's an awful person.
    • The way Kat was acting today, it only enhances Silk Press Sheila's stalking accusations.   She certainly takes after her Aunt Dani. It took about 70 episodes, but the show seems to have finally understood that Ashley/Derek have to interact with the rest of the canvas in order to get viewers to care about them... or at least understand what their purpose for being on the show. Leslie vs Kat is a wonderful pairing.... and Leslie/Tomas was comically.   Dani's delusion that she's still Bill's wife.... no comment. I really hope that Eva doesn't turn out to be Nicole's child.. because I find the fall out from the anniversary party to be pretty good and there's more possibilities having Eva not being Nicole's child then being her child..imho.
