Members DrewH
And I wish that's where they kept Lucas and Sami. But since they didn't, I'm going to have to look past them and enjoy them as a couple. The storyline coming up sounds like a LUMI that I can become invested in. I hate the cutesy LUMI that we've been getting for months now. LUMI does great with comedy. I think Hogan's finally about to give us that. If you've seen the spoilers, you know what I mean
Members a2sassy
I'm on pins and needles waiting for the show to start. I can't wait to see the Lumi scenes.
Members Keith
I'm so the anti-spoiler-free of this show (being it's, I don't know, reporter ), but even I squeed when I heard Peter Reckell's voice call to Shawn. I knew it was coming and I still went "OMG! BO! YAY!" Bo doesn't feel like he's being a prop now, and I like that. And when he said that line, "Don't worry. Finding bad guys. It's what I do." So cute! Finally, someone who gets Bo (most of the time)! Lucas and Sami SUPERB. Along with many EJami fans (of which I've nor been a number since late Fall of 2006), I've been a harsh critic of LUMI under Hogan Sheffer. And I'm still fairly critical. I don't believe for a second that they need to be so cutesy romantic all the time, and I am still pissed with how easily they came back together at the beginning of his tenure. However, today showcased exactly why I feel for LUMI the way I do, and MY GOD, Lucas has grown up. He's not trying to emulate Austin anymore. I cried twice today, and once was because of Bryan Dattilo's brilliant dialogue and how Sami had this WTF feeling- she's never been in the position of being begged for her forgiveness. That moment of parallelism really sold it for me today. Every line that Ponz pointed out was as brilliant as it sounded. Like Drew said in another thread, we need more LUMI comedy (even if the situation is serious), because they do it well. Hogan managed to remembered what Lucas is supposed to be to Sami- that one person that, no matter WHAT she does, no matter how many times she's screws up, he knows her well enough to know WHY and to know when she deserves flack and when she doesn't. That's been a flaw of this character ever since LUMI first came together officially. Someone finally got it right! I'm breaking out the bubbly! Philip and Belle were great today, too. We've been seeing a lot more glimpses of humanity with JKJ's Philip lately, and I couldn't be happier. This was another point where I cried, when Belle seemed to nearly have him convinced to compromise. You could SEE that he wanted to, with everything in him, but Shawn was a dealbreaker. He doesn't feel he can trust him. I say forget the lawsuits but bring in the lawyers, make a legal compromise that everyone has to agree to. Equal time shared custody. Sometimes, it's moments like this, when people come together after months of bull and realize that if they try and don't run (like BOTH parties had intended to do, either way) they can make this thing work, that are the most dramatic. It's just like...wow. And last, but not least Chelsea and Nick. More SQUEE! They weren't hogging airtime, and we saw once more why they work so well, in every cute way we needed. And Willow? Burn, baby. Burn!!!
Administrator Toups Posted May 11, 2007 Administrator Share Posted May 11, 2007 Good dialogue today between Lucas/Sami and Nick/Chelsea. Kudos to Bettina Bradbury. My favorite line goes to Chelsea: "I laughed in your face so many times you had to go hide behind another one." Or something like that.
Members Keith
Chelsea had great lines today. I loved when she made the pop-up reference to Willow.
Members a2sassy
Today's show was great, IMO. I LOVED the Lumi scenes. Lucas has really grown a lot. Six months ago, he couldn't have said what she said to Sami today. The Nick/Chelsea scenes were great too. I like that they talked and are working their way back to each other. I wish someone would kill that miserable bastard EJ!
Members DrewH
Great episode. It was a little lackluster, but from the week we just had, that had to be expected. My LUMI love has returned! The scenes were those cutesy scenes, but for once, Lucas wasn't a prop anymore. He wasn't standing there in the unknown, having no idea what was going on. He knew very well what happened and he chose to stay with Sami. That needed to happen. I never thought I would see it. Lucas is Sami's best friend. He knows her better than she knows herself. Like Keith said, he should be the most understanding of anyone when Sami screws up. It just so happens that her screw-ups are usually on Lucas' account so I could see why he would be pissed in the past. This time, Sami didn't screw up on purpose. She screwed up because she was trying to save Lucas. Lucas owes his life to Sami. I'm glad he sees that. As long as they keep Lucas in the know and don't have him looking stupid (Austin), then I can be into LUMI. I just want to see Lucas and Sami, the way they are meant to be. I think it's finally happening. I want PHELLE! JKJ and Martha Madison would be hot as a couple. I want to see it work. I was longing for their reunion during their scenes today. Philip still loves Belle. I felt bad for him. I was hoping he wouldn't fall for Belle because I didn't want to see him get hurt in the end. He's been hurt enough already. Keith is right about Philip showing humanity this week as well. He was concerned about Shawn when Duck shot him. And today, he was showing that he wants to trust Belle, but he is torn. Was it just me, or did anyone else get the impression that Bo was not a fan of Gabby's? He was pretty rude to her today and he just met her. I don't care though. I was cheering him on! Down with GagMe!!! Nick and Chelsea are daytime's cutest twosome. It was nice seeing Willow. We only have a little bit more time left, my love. Members DaysFanJean
I think we saw the birth of SUPERCOUPLE LUMI today. At last everything is out in the open and a clean slate begins with them more in love than ever. It surely was a difficult birth though. I gringed, gritted my teeth and clinched my fists LOL but it was worth it to have this clear vision now. I love LUMI and look forward to their new adventure. Thankfully the island saga ends next Friday. I love Belle with Philip. She actually has chemistry with Philip. Shawn is like a colt still, all legs and no grace....obviously I just don't like a thing about him. Chelsea and Nick are precious. I love this young romance.....except he did lie again right to Chelsea's face when he took Willow's phone call. What is wrong with letting an unwanted or inconvenient phone call go to voice mail? Why did he feel it necessary to answer it and then go meet her. Grrrrrrr.
Members billyjill
I really really think they should do Phelle. Just make it happen, guys. Only saw the Lumi clips so far ... good on Lucas, I didn't think the actual dialog was amazing but the content was right on. The love scene at the end was great, just fun and loving. That's a good point y'all bring up about the drugged lipstick thing ... I wonder if they'll remember that, or just drop it. Previews have Adrienne, yay! I'll try to catch the rest of the show later. Members PhoenixRising05
Good episode. Very character driven and well-written. We needed this after this week, which was full of drama and action. Let me start off with how great it was to see Bo on the island. Refreshing is what it was. He did not care for Gabby at all from my perspective and I loved his moments with Shawn. Belle/Philip was great as well. I have been saying for the past two weeks that JKJ and the writers are bringing out the human side of Philip. They must have heard our pleas because he has been toned down alot. I did see the chemistry between Martha and Jay for the first time since he started. These were very good scenes and it's so great to have movement. Finally!! Chelsea/Nick was adorable. Great dialogue here and I feel like both Nick and Chelsea grew as characters. We had insight into both of them today as we watched them confess their feelings and slowly grow close again. I hate that Willow ruined it but these scenes were wonderful. Again, we had movement after weeks of them going back and forth about the damn hairbrush. RM and BB were great. Now, for the shining stars, AS and BD!! Both were superb today and Hogan and his writing team finally GOT them. This is LUMI. This is what fans have been waiting for. I know everything thinks I enjoy everything but I don't. Generally, I enjoy the show but sometimes things irk me and LUMI haven't felt like LUMI for months. They reunited so fastb early on in Hogan's tenure and we never had what he promised until now. Wow...Lucas had so much character growth this past week and I don't have much to add to what Ponz, Drew H, and others have already said. This was a payoff and almost too good to be true! Sami was shocked that she finally had things go her way. Lucas understood that she did this all for him and that she kept the truth from him because of all the times he left her and so on. It was all just flawless and then the romance at the end...wow. Anyone that thinks Hogan can't do romance or scenes like this needs to start watching the show because he is giving it to us in spades now. I was nearly in tears. He stood by her and promises to make it all work. I couldn't ask for anymore then this. This was a perfect week for LUMI fans and I can't wait for what is to come. I wonder what will become of the lipstick thing or maybe it will be a non-issue. Personally, I don't care but maybe it should be acknowledged at some point. I have a feeling it will but that it won't affect LUMI too much. I know some will say this show was boring but if you appreciate good, character driven drama you will love this. This was one of those payoff days that isn't because of some big event or reveal. It's because of a breakthrough with the characters. You witness great growth and maturation and that brings about big changes in the show and it's stories. This was truly a big day and a big week for LUMI fans and just fans in general. Days needs to keep this up because they are on a huge roll. Good to see Adrienne in the previews.
Members Days4Life
I can't believe it--Lucas has not only grown a spine, he's developed character! Wonderful scenes with Sami and Lucas today. All the problems I've had with them as a couple for the last few years were addressed. Lucas has always known that Sami is a schemer and a trouble magnet, yet was always trying to change her and when she couldn't truly change, he would pull his love back and walk away. Finally, finally, finally, that holier than thou attitude is gone and he acknowledges his past mistakes and even asks for forgiveness! And he called her his "hero". For Sami, that's the best thing he could say, as she's always craved acceptance. Great dialogue, great acting, the old Lucas/Sami magic (which I never thought I'd see again) is back! Chelsea and Nick were so sweet and touching, and I liked the little bits of humor, too. I'm still mystified as to why Nick feels he has to keep helping Willow. If she'd quit spending so much money on make-up, she'd be able to afford a room to stay in. I think FF's makeup artist must have worked on Anne today! Bo to the rescue! So glad to see him on the island; I just knew he was going to spring into action and get this fiasco fixed up in no time. I also noticed the way he looked at Gabby; he's on to his son and the trouble he's gotten himself into because of his bad choices with women. Jay seems to have toned down Philip, which makes it much easier to watch his scenes now. He did a good job showing how torn he is, wanting to go along with Belle's plan and yet not trusting Shawn. This was a very good week, and I'm looking forward to next week. I still don't understand why we haven't been seeing such terrific writing for the last few months, but I suppose that's a behind the scenes mystery we'll never solve. Members KevC1980
I can't decide which scenes i'm enjoying more Nick and Chelsea or Sami and Lucas...today was a wonderful day for both of these couples..I'll start with Nick and Chelsea...They are quickly becoming my favorite young couple on Days since Austin and Carrie...Rachel and Blake have incredible chemistry...and the dialog today was fantastic...I enjoyed them both admitting their flaws..My favorite part was Chelsea telling Nick that as hard as she tried, she couldn't block him out of her heart... Lucas and Sami scenes were excellent..Finally, Bryan Datillo gets some great material to work with..Lucas has been so lame and out of the loop the past few months..Its really so refreshing to have everything out in the open...There are no more secrets between these two..Now i'm excited to watch them take on EJ together... Members Ponz
And more importantly, it better get at least a +.3 in viewership. Never thought I'd ever be praying that a major DAYS wedding would get a 2.2. How depressing.
Members ademption
All I can say is WOW!!! As a Lucas fan, as a Sami fan, as a Lumi fan, just WOW!! Hogie delivered in a big way these past few days and I'm so grateful that I stuck through this whole storyline to finally get this payoff!! And what a payoff it was!! Thank you Hogie andd Bettina and yesterday's script writer for writing what I've always wanted from Lucas--cutting Kate from Lucas' life and Lucas taking responsibility for Sami not trusting him to tell the truth about EJ raping her. What a great week this has been for this Lumi fan!! The Chick dialogue was nice too!! I guess I'm going to have to write to the Days' producers to tell them how much I've enjoyed this week. I think it's important that we give them positive feedback when they do something right, especially since the ratings have been so abysmal lately. Just a quick line might keep up the Days staff's spirits you know?
