Members Mason
Oh, my intense hatred of Alec has nothing to do with this. I've never been able to stand the man, so I don't exactly feel sorry for him.
Members Q Steph
What does Kim's career have to do with anything? There are many people giving Alec Baldwin the benefit of the doubt. Why is it so incomprehensible that Kim is a worried mother who does not want her child subjected to the rantings of a prick? If Alec didn't have a history of being tempermental, I could buy that this was an isolated incident but he's been an admitted jackass for years. The man should enter some type of anger management because you don't get to emotionally abuse a child because she won't pick up the phone. Parents should not have a blanket, autonomous right to spew their vilitrol and pass it off as tough love.
Members Mason
Thank you! I totally agree with the rest of your post, but that one bolded part in particular.
Members King
This is the epitome of stupidity. A child getting yelled at by a parent and called names? Woopty frickin' doo. Parents and kids both say worse things to each other BILLIONS times a day than "a rude little pig." This is the most ridiculous celeb story I've heard in a while. Members R!ck
Exactly Mike! I was once 3 hours late for curfew in High School. My mom called me a "[!@#$%^&*] irresponsible little bastard who doesn't care enough about others to even pick up a phone" and then I screamed back and she then proceeded to tell me that "my hanging out with my slacker friends was turing me into a worthless piece of [!@#$%^&*]" I guess my some people's standards, she should have had her parental rights stiripped away? Bullshit! This is exactly what's wrong with kids/teens. The parents say a harsh word or spank their kids and everyone wants to scream abuse. It's downright absurd! Members KBT
As usual I totally agree with you Mike. Exactly how I feel Rick. I have seen in my own experience that kids with parents that either spank or show some actual authority towards them behave and act a lot more respectful towards others. The parents who give empty threats, make their child sit in a corner for all of 5 minutes, and never really disipline their kids are the ones who have kids that either are extra bratty or do whatever the hell they want. That's why I can't stand to hear all this abuse talk when some parent lays a hand on a child, like Rick said its absurd. Of course there is a difference between abuse and spanking, but I strongly believe in disiplining kids when they are young so by the time they are a teen you shouldn't really have to spank them anymore. With all that said, I DONT agree with paddling in school and I am glad to see schools no longer do this. If and when I have kids, the teachers at my school better not tip my child or I will be raising some hell with a quickness. I will never forget in 7th or 8th grade my Home Economics teacher pinched me really hard because I was talking in class while everyone else was as well. I immediately pinched her right back and told her never to touch me like that again. I remember after all that happened she was nice to me from then on, and I always wondered why she never went and told the principal, I assume because she knew she was in the wrong. Members mitchFan
I'm sorry but I agree with everyone else. You are you to judge someone based on one recorded message? It's silly if you ask me, people aren't saying that what Alec said was right but that he shouldn't be judged as harshly as he is being judged and IMO I agree totally. Members Shawn
And I can't believe that some people are throwing stones at him. NONE of us KNOWS him or the factors behind it. It's beyond ridiculous to spread hatred about someone or something when you only know part of the story.
Members Q Steph
Kim Basinger denied leaking Alec Baldwin's angry voicemail to their daughter and called on her ex-husband to "finally address his unstable and irrational behavior," according to a statement from her rep. "Everybody is always asking why this custody battle has been going on for so many years and now they have the answer," says the statement, released Monday. "The issue is not about Kim or the alleged alienation that Alec constantly refers to. It is about his ongoing aggressive behavior." The rep says Basinger "did not release the voicemail," but adds the message "was not sealed under a court order," as Baldwin's attorneys claim. The three-year custody fight for 11-year-old Ireland intensified last week when TMZ.com posted Baldwin's threatening voicemail in which he berated the child as a "rude little pig" and threatened to straighten her out. Baldwin said he had been driven to the edge by the years of court battles and called himself a victim of parental alienation – in which one parent alienates a child against the other during a custody battle. Baldwin has been criticized on his own Web site, and now Basinger says Baldwin has only himself to blame. "Kim's sincerest wish is for him to finally address his unstable and irrational behavior so he, at some point, can potentially create a relationship with his daughter," says her rep's statement. "Until then, Kim will continue to protect and safeguard her child's well-being as any parent would." Over the weekend, Basinger hired security "in response to the media attention on her daughter in order to allow Ireland to maintain her regular routine and activities uninterrupted," the statement says. Baldwin attorney Vicki Greene reiterated her claim that the voicemail tape "had to have been released by someone from Kim's side" and disputed that the tape was not under seal. "We don't agree with Kim's position," says Greene. "This court has sealed proceedings for Ireland's protection for years. Why would this recording be any different? I'm not even allowed to say whether the tape was played in court or not. They (Kim's side) are breaking the confidentiality rules."

Members Rhiannon
From TVGuide.com Basinger or Ricky Bobby: Why'd Baldwin Drop CAA? Alec Baldwin's abrupt decision to leave CAA for as-yet-to-be-determined pastures may have been fueled in part by a video spoof posted at FunnyOrDie.com, a website cocreated by another CAAer, Will Ferrell, and placing poor Dora the Explorer on the receiving end of his answering-machine harangue. "Baldwin asked CAA to take it off [the site], and they didn't," a source tells the New York Post's Page Six. Others, though, contend that Baldwin parted ways with the 10-percentery because they still pimp his ex-wife, Kim Basinger. Baldwin's rep quips about the video spoof, "Three-year-olds everywhere are upset that Dora... and her friends are being dragged into this." Or as Swiper would say, "Oh, man!" Members SpiritualJunkie
While Baldwin does sound like a total prick from that phone message, I agree with everyone who thinks that we have no right to judge him based on one (and wrongly leaked) phone message. We don't know what caused him to blow off steam the way he did. Therefore, we shouldn't judge. I also think it's ridiculous that this is making bigger news than other more urgent and important news. But isn't that the state of American journalism these days?
