Love the family crest!

I am 100% Irish. Three of my grandparents came over from Ireland when they were very young and my grandmother was born in Mass.

My paternal grandparents married and moved to New Hampshire. My maternal grandparents lived in Mass for years and years until WW1 (Yes, my mother is that old). They then moved to NH because my grandfather got a job with the railroads.

Cute story about my parents. They met at the YMCA, where the town always had teen dances. They went to different high schools. They dated on and off for 14 years before my father proposed. When my father passed, it was three weeks away from there 35th wedding anniversary. So they were together almost 50 years.

Hmmm...

My immediate family is from Jamaica, with some relatives from Cuba. From there, it's all one big crap shoot thanks to slavery and indentured servitude (I have Chinese, Indian, and Eastern European ancestors without a doubt). My last name is from a region in upper England/Scotland.

I'm German, my ancestors - the family of my paternal grandmother - are from Prussia which belongs to Poland today. My family name was very popular in several Slavic countries in the 18th century (for example in Hungary or the Czech Republic but also in Austria).

Girl, you and I could almost be family. LOL My immdiate family is from Jamaica, also with a mix of African, Chinese and Indian, with some Welsh and English thrown in. Years ago some of my cousins in England started researching our ancestors. My family is like the UN :D

My mother's side of the family hails from the Isle of Man.(Manx cats anyone?) I love that place. Old, full of folklore and old ledgends. They even have an old witch/wicca museum. My dad's family comes from Mexico. I'm pretty sure I'm the fourth or fifth generation here in America, on that side. We've got distant relatives that still live like ancient Mayans. Both sides have a mix of Native American as well.(but who doesn't?...I mean, they were here first, LoL)

    • Thanks. I'm glad we have some fan memories of these years as this is such a typically snide take on the genre. It's also poorly written and reminds me a great deal of the tedious "snark" recaps that became popular in the '90s. The end in particular. The 1979/80 stuff I have seen is much more polished than a number of soaps at the time. It was very easy to watch and not too bogged down in past story.  Margo is played by Ann Williams, who was on what seemed like every soap. I think she said Margo was her favorite role.  These episodes aren't consecutive, but if you ever have time, they are worth a watch. They are bits and pieces from January and April of 1979 - April in and out of prison, her past calling to her via her psychic powers (and the suicide of Miles' wife Denise, who had murder framing in mind). April 1979 has the end of Winter Austen (such a fantastic soap name).  I don't want to drop a ton of links but you can find playlists on Youtube.
    • And the rating 'wars' continue...hehe.
    • Well, it was fun while it lasted for Rebecca Herbst. Le sigh.
    • I am wholeheartedly enjoying this show. I just haven't been able to post as much as I used to. But yes, this episode needs to be submitted for the EMMYs and there needs to be wins. I better NOT see Y&R, DAYS, or B&B winning in categories over BTG. I feel like the only show that is giving BTG an ounce of competition this season is GH.
    • I never thought the day would come, but too much MM for me.
    • I think it may be that the character was brought in for a specific purpose and then became popular with viewers, and the show didn't know how to respond.  The choice to pivot away from Simon/India may show that you are right and they didn't care for her...although pairing them up may be another sign they didn't care for her. I don't connect well with this period but it does make me happy seeing some of these characters before the great purge and some of the surprises - I'd forgotten the wonderful Maureen O'Sullivan popped up to be bumped off. So typical of soaps by this point, but it doesn't grate as much as later on when Y&R would bring on any random cast member from Small Wonder. I'm also amazed at this time at just how much money the show must have had. The costumes for the Founder's celebration in summer 1984, or whatever it was, looked gorgeous.
    • Which officially started to feel that way today with them hearing each other out as they confronted each other at the same time.    Same. He was even catching himself when he was about to go overboard or do those tics that people don't seem to like. He failed a bit at the end, but he carried. It makes me think about a month back when it was discussed that the actor was better in other things he's been in. And I questioned then if that meant that he was playing Martin more intentionally. I questioned that briefly again today because he was giving.
    • I really like the actress who plays Margo. Don't know  her name. I'm so hesitant to google anyone because I don't want to know the length they were on the show. I've watched two episodes and I have to say that the show does not feel as dated as other shows. I tried to watch Ryan's Hope a few weeks back and some of the acting was a bit rough. EON is a lot more natural which amuses me considering it's a mystery/thriller show.
