Actually, until Sami referred to what happened between her and EJ as rape, I was one of those who defined it as coersion instead of rape. Still vile and despicable, but a different legal animal. Sami defining it as rape (combined with the flashbacks of the look on her face when it happened), told me she felt forced and that changed my feelings on what happened.

Fair enough. I really think, though, that they were deliberately echoing the last fight in the hotel suite where Kayla tackled Steve and knocked him to the floor and climbed on top of him. She was whaling the daylights out of him and then it all sort of melted into an angsty, angry kiss. But she wasn't able to change his mind. Steve got up and left and Kayla was left staring numbly.

Today the reverse happened (minus the flying fists). He pushed her down, got on top of her, yelled at her and then gave her an angsty, angry kiss. She responded, but he wasn't able to change her mind. She got up and left and Steve was left staring numbly.

Mirror scenes.

EJ is a villain. Of course people interpret his actions as bad, the show wants you to. This whole thing when people resent a show's hero for being a hero wears really thin after a while. Steve was not cuddles and rainbows today, no, and nobody said otherwise, but calling what he did rape just to expose some supposed hypocrisy amongst viewers is a little pointless to me. The show decided to have EJ force himself on Sami, they are willfully painting him as a Really Scary Fellow, don't be surprised if viewers follow suit. Take issue with the sophistication of the characterization if you must (I certainly do) but it makes no sense to expect viewers to interpret beyond the characterization the show gives, that's like responding to something that isn't there.

A kiss is not rape by any definition.

Being as I'm not paying attention to Steve and Kayla as a rule, I looked up from reading when the noise began and wondered why on earth is Steve shoving Kayla onto the bed so roughly and her screaming like that, then I wondered where the guard at the door was because there is no way she could have been carrying on like that he wasn't right there in a flash....but this is a soap da dee da dah. Then Steve tried to kiss her, I was getting signals all through me of his crudeness toward her and wanting to defend Kayla. It wasn't rape but it was a very demeaning scene and I hated it.

just had to say that this MA return? waste of time.while It was great seeing Jack back,I thought he did nothing.it had nothing to do with ashley either.the scenes were all about Max and Abby, and I just didnt find that jack being there made any diffrence.I would have said the same thing if it was Missy and they would waste her scenes for *that*.

Just one thing bugged me during this episode.

Why did Shawn and Belle sign their real names on the guest ledger for Kate to see?

Seriously, why the hell would you stupid enough to use your true identities when it'd be safer to use aliases?

ITA it was an act of control and power. If all he wanted to do was kiss her he could have grabbed her and kissed her. Instead he grabbed her, and threw her down in a vulnerable position and got on top of her while she was screaming and force a kiss on her.

    • That's a name I haven't heard in a minute. Thanks!
    • Well, since I'm still up unexpected past my growing-into-it bedtime. lol.   I finally got to rewatch Monday's. I even rewatched Friday's to take it all in. Now that we got the reveal and hit the climax of the SilkPress Sheila storyline, now we get to watch the aftermath and/or turns that come with its climax. So far, so good. Friday left us with three cliffhangers. And what I found surprising was how I felt about them over a rewatch.    I know some of you all felt a way about the dialogue during Kat vs Eva. I remember liking it more the first time around and it was nice for them to have these scenes to establish more of a frenemy vibe for them going forward. That still held up. But I found myself agreeing with you all about that dialogue. lol. Still, it was nice to have both of their POVs.   Second up was Silk Press Sheila vs the Duprees. And I was happy to get a brief spat with Dani in there. But the rest standouts for me was Anita and Martin. Haters can hate and given the tail end of the episode, I will agree to a fault, but Brandon has impressed and he was on fire on Monday and had great subtle work on Friday. And that subtle work made it all the better. Like I believe I said when I was watching...BC has a much better grip on his character and seems to be realizing what his tics are so has started to be able to know when to turn it up and when to dial it down. And for the most part (emphasis on most), he got that. Meanwhile, TT was giving fierceness, and I was here for every minute of it. Her reading SilkPress. Her being quip about it. Her 'BE STILL.' Ooooo she had a chokehold on me as Anita gave what I was expecting her to SilkPress. WORTH THE WAIT. I also loved Vernon's CHOOSE SILENCE. I wonder though if SilkPress will figure out Martin's condition from her observing Anita and Vernon with him.   And speaking of worth it...Oooo YES Nicole vs Ted was worth totally worth it. Oooooo I knew DD would nail it, and it was all so well done. The fight between the part of Nicole who is a therapist vs Nicole as a woman who wants to express how she feels. And being so angry. And how there would be moments when it would shoot out of her. And how she would restrain herself. But how she felt she should not be restrain. Just the levels of processing and layers. And DD played it all so well. I do wish Maurice gave just a little bit more, but overall, I thought he did a good job even if it was just Ted coming across as a deadbeat and not at all redeemable. And Kat being there for her mother was so beautiful.   Minority, but I love the montage though yes, it did run a little long. Given how the Duprees like to bond (and also as I mentioned from my own very recent family experiences), it did not seem out of place to me.     That said...let's see how the aftermath worked in today's episode. Overall. Cuz RC can be hit or miss.
    • I wonder whose brilliant (

) idea it was to do an almost complete rip-off of the "who killed Tom King"-storyline. That's some quality style writing right there.....
    • The show is done. It got canceled at the end of January. https://www.soapoperanetwork.com/2025/02/fox-first-run-cancels-dish-nation-person-place-or-thing-pictionary-759232
    • I believe it. ESPECIALLY that last one.
    • Aristotle Dumas. Just thought I'd throw that out there!
