B&B: Interesting Jack Wagner Comments

JW says he thinks Nick/Brooke will eventually get back together, because the two of them still love each other passionately, and they broke up too abruptly, with things unresolved between them.

I hope so! I know many will disagree with me, but in my opinion, the Bricky pairing was the best thing to happen on B&B in years. Brad Bell never gave them a chance, all he cared about was resurrecting the carcass known as Bridge for the 4000th time. I can't get excited either about Nick/Taylor.

Nick and Jackie are worthless and I'm insulted that these two have been choosen to replace Sally, Clarke and the Spectra gang.

I want both Brooke and Ridge to get completely new love interests and stay apart for a long time. Eric/Brooke had potential, why was that rushed so fast? And call me crazy, but I wouldn't mind Morgan returning for Ridge. Her last story being canned for that awful Taylor really pissed me off. She could spice the show up and be their new big Sheila-esque villian.

I agree Evan. I'd like to see a return to Bricky if it was done properly. Bricky was the best thing that happened in a long time. Bridge is old, we've seen it a hundred times before and it never worked out. Ticky seems so forced, I can't get into it. If any character needs to be written out it's Ronn Moss and Ridge, an abuser of women for years.

I’m surprised by that hostility. There is no Spectra anymore. We can’t hold Brad Bell responsible for a recent real-life event, can we?

I for one don’t consider this new rivalry bad at all. I find it pretty creative and at least this Harvey Golden situation has been intriguing. Nick has also gotten much more likeable in recent weeks (after that obsession & control freak-disaster last summer/fall)...

Add me to the list that still carries a torch Brooke&Nick. But right this is burnt territory for me. Let Ridge&Brooke stay together - as long as they freeze in backburner-hell. This story is so old and over-done, Ridge always destroys Brooke with him - my humble opinion don't take any offense by it, please - that it is most easy for me as viewer to concentrate on other things. I block Ridge & Brooke out entirely.

I like Nick with Taylor - yet they work better as friends than lover, I suppose. A romance might look pretty much forced in the end but let's see...

The Spectra's have been neglected for years, it has nothing to do with Darlene Conley's passing. And what about Clarke? Is he dead too? What about CJ? Did Darla have to die to prop Saint!Taylor? No. That ended up being one of the most pointless deaths in soap history. Now that the weak story is over, Thorne is back on the backburner while things are looking great for Taylor. The only people who can get consistant story are Brooke, Ridge, Stephanie, Taylor and Nick.

Spectra is gone because the writers weren't interested in writing it, just like all the other interesting supporting characters who made the show what it is. Nick and Jackie don't compare, IMO. When it was a full family I enjoyed them, but now? Nick is unbearable and Jackie is pointless.

The way Nick has been written has been so repulsive that nothing will redeem his character in my eyes. Especially with Jack Wagner's performances. I thought there was potential with Harry, but apparently Wagner didn't want a grown son.

Another major "WTF?" for me is the lack of Lesli Kay! She was so compelling during her cancer that they decided not to kill her off. I guess that was Brad Bell being forced by the fans because I see nothing in the horizon for her.

    • I'm not sure if the boy Carrie 2 seduced (I think his name was Ron) was still in high school or in college, but I remember he was very shy. I don't recall her making a pass at Alan, but she did make one at Justin, and she ended up banging Josh. I think there was an out of town business man too. Reva thought Josh and Vanessa were having an affair. Vanessa had just been fired by Roger, and when Reva took off to India, Van started helping Josh with the children. He then hired Van to work at Lewis. She would hear him on a business call with Van and think they were arranging a tryst. Or they sat too close together on the couch, so of course they were hiding an affair from her. It was very weird and blew up really quick.  It culminated at the party Reva was throwing at the club to introduce Dylan to Justin. Reva imagined everyone whispering about her and then she dumped a tray of drinks on Vanessa. When Vanessa hauled her into the ladies room to ask WTF, Reva accuses them of having an affair, asks if Van's pregnant, and then knocks her to the floor. I do think Claire had a tumor. I know around Valentine's day, Claire is making passes at a young businessman (or maybe even someone college age), and Ross (Van kinda pushed her at him because she's not keen on Calla). There's also a young intern played by Burke Moses that I think she sleeps with.

If the standard of play in the women's final yesterday wasn't of the highest caliber, that is not something you could say about today's final. It was absolutely fantastic tennis.
    • When Barbara's letter was read (partly in Barbara's voice), there was commenting upthread that Barbara's voice is similar to the voice of Naomi's unhoused client June.  It did sound like her.  June is played by Jasmine Burke.  Per closing credits, Barbara was voiced by Sherita Bolden.  Still possible that they are connected. From our discussion on the May thread:  Looks and/or voices similar between June, Haley, and Tracy.   Tracy looks like Debbi Morgan. LOL so June might be connected to Haley, Tracy, or Barbara; and/or Samantha&Tyrell. I love that we don't know!
    • In the 1987 episodes, Mary has wonderful conversations with MJ and Cheryl. This is a realistic family with believable dynamics. Mary's ambivalence towards Vince is played nicely. Denise Alexander is so good here. I don't know what happened that the writers or producers just decided to chuck it all away. I don't FF these scenes. The show had a strong family that could have had years of storyline and they did nothing with them. I really don't get it.
    • I can't speak for Sonni, but I thought Annie came off as neurotic from very early on. That's just how Cynthia Watros plays her parts, and the writing went along. I don't think Claire was mentally ill - they claimed she had a brain tumor, didn't they? I am never sure just why they made the effort given that she was leaving anyway.
    • @DeeVee Claire is a perfect example. So many women came to Springfield as competent, smart, and talented professionals. Then they’d attract a so-called “good guy,” get dumped, and spiral into complete chaos. What always strikes me is how clearly it plays like a male fantasy—yet it was written and sold to a female audience.  I'm not a content expert, but I don't think cis gendered women fantasize about losing control of their mental faculties in response to an orgasm. Similar to Holly's story, it seems repulsive, because I don't believe women fantasize about becoming more vulnerable and appealing to men after they've been assaulted.
    • I just watched some parts of an episode of GL where Roger has just been shot by Holly. Rita then admits to Hillary that Roger raped her. Kasdorf is such a fantastic actress. I wish there were more of her work available.
    • -- Alex Alegria has almost a full sleeve tattoo on one arm and a large tatt on one pec. I see no indication that the show is covering up his ink,
    • Didn't Carrie2 even seduce a minor? Ick. Oh, yeah, and she even tried to seduce Alan, but this was his post-prison era when he was trying to prove to everyone he had changed. It's funny that of all people he didn't go for it. Wait. Josh had an affair with Vanessa? Or she just thought he did? I know people always say "it's just a soap" but the way mental illness is portrayed on soaps (and that goes for pretty much all of them) has always been not great, especially PPD. They practically turned Claire into The Joker. She also was trying to seduce men. (I notice that now Mary Ryan Munisteri is listed as co HW with Ryder in the 1986 episodes, Claire has calmed down a lot. Never thought her GL career was very good but seems like she tried to course correct that a bit).
