I know.

But you're never truly dead on a soap. I don't care what they show. We saw Maria's ghost, too. Mike Roy was shot about 500 times and was cremated and scattered in Tibet by Erica. That didn't stop them from bringing him back. It never hurts to try. Michael Nader was saved by fans after they killed Dimitri (this was pre-coke bust).

If this all had to happen....

Could we at least get a month of Heaven scenes like Gillian did back in the Summer of 2002 when she died???

Seriously, how AWESOME would that be if Esta Terblanche came back and Dixie and Gillian hung out in Heaven for awhile with Jesse, Jeremy Hunter, Natalie!!!! I mean Kate Collins IS coming back in Feb. to play Janet - so it'd be the perfect time for her to play 'ghost Natalie' again too since she's here.

I don't know about y'all - but I loved the Gillian in Heaven storyline that lasted for about a month when she died....and although she wasn't quite to the Dixie status - she was a beloved character that should have NEVER died the way she did.

I thought the acting and everything was good, but the background music...the silence they used for the oh-so-necessary Ryan/Annie scenes (which- props to the writers for having a key male character with a vasectomy and two kids showing up after the vasectomy, 'cause that's brilliance) would've really been nice, imho. It was way overdone and unnecessary given what was going on.

I refuse to sign the petition.

That was, hands down, my favorite soap death EVER.

And after something packed with THAT much emotional WALLUP, NO WAY am I going to want that beautiful death compromised!

This was the end for Dixie.

So it is written (by Megan McTavish), and so it shall be. :)

Oh, so he really is an angel?! Hahah. I really had no idea. And I didn't know AMC did supernatural, even spiritual supernatural. (Remember, I'm a NEW diehard fan ;))

It's still kind of creepy though. I mean, sooner or later, people (especially in Pine Valley!) TALK. And then they'll say, "Father Clarence? He doesn't preside at my church...nor mine...mine, neither...me either!....just who IS this character?! What sick FREAK is talking to our children, parading around like a man of the collar? How does he KNOW US?! How does he know our names? Our children's names?! Dear GOD, HELP US ALL!!"

And soon, very soon, Father Clarence would take the perp walk RIGHT to jail -- where he seems to belong!

So he really does seem like the best candidate for Satin Slayer, even if he isn't.

Haha - ok Father Clarence is the 'angel' that brings a Christmas Miracle to Pine Valley every Christmas, since I think about 2003. It's like an AMC tradition (the Christmas Miracle). He isn't really considered supernatural - well at least not campy at all....anyway I think you'd better understand 'Father Clarence' if you'd see every year he was on.

He first came on to talk to Bianca and Kendall mostly - then he moved on to JR - and then this year to Tad/Dixie (if I remember correctly). So Kendall and Bianca pretty much know about this 'angel' - and they didn't get a visit from him this year. Dixie of course was 'dead' all the years he was around, so this Christmas she had never heard of him.

I still don't get why they fired her.

Tad/Dixie, Tad/Dixie/Kate would have only helped the ratings.

At least ask the woman to take a pay cut before firing her, you know "we were expecting more out of your return in terms of ratings, because that didn't transform we're going to cut your paycheck *this much* because it's really taking up a lot of fixed costs for us without bringing in the expected profit/revenue. Are you okay with that?"

Tad/Dixie were one of the only things on the show that were ripe to pick up ratings at this point, they just needed to give it the "love" they gave it today (well in terms of flashbacks and the park scene even). How on earth does it make sense to get rid of half of one of the almost guaranteed things that could help your ratings without even giving an offer? How?

I just don't see the logic in killing her before T&D found, and had some scenes with Kate as her parents. That's the thing I don't get. Why not let Dixie die for Kate? Protecting her or something. Why do it this way? I wasn't a Dixie fan, anymore, but I don't see why this had to be done...NOW. And in this way.

Tad and Dixie going full steam ahead with romance and flashbacks, and all the ole school madly in love stuff, would have gotten nicer ratings than dead Dixie today or 3 months from now after a quick reunion. It does not compute in my brain that they would not even give her an offer. Give me a reason that makes sense? Budget and smaller cast does not make sense to me to not even offer an offer.

I will admit if Dixie was still roaming alive today at the mansion I'd still be psuedo-snarky about her because of 2006 but that could have been repaired with the ongoing family/Tad stuff. Oh yeah today brought back my Dixie love, my T/D love but what is one day of that really going to afford the show in the long term? Nothing positive in my opinion.

Are we sure this isn't a fake death and us being played (Cady does seem very sincere, but still)? I can almost smell that demon, James E. Reilly, consulting on the show, lol. It's going to take a few more spoiler weeks for me to believe this is real 100%.

    • You're right. People like me who stuck with her, did so because of her history. The show just skated her along with no story,  no goal, no aim. Right again! This is who I forgot before. When you describe her, it makes me appreciate her more. Thinking back I loved Mandy.
    • Maybe Guza is becoming Y&R Head writer and Jilly will be named EP! Remember CBS installed Latham as consultant and later Mal Young, both of whom took over the show. Of course, they each got credit during the consulting days.
    • Don't forget Carrie, who as Carrie2 was screwing everything in pants, and PPD Reva, who to either get back at Josh for his supposed affair with Vanessa (or just to prove she's more desirable than Van) tries to screw half the male population.
    • Post-production isn't exactly akin to sweeping the floors, but it makes more sense given her CV.  And, it would invalidate any concerns that she has an undo influence on the creative process, as opposed to visual and sound design of the show.  In fact, given her interests, it makes sense that she would want to consult and see the impact of newer technology in a post-production facility.  I could only imagine how much has changed in sound technology since she worked on SB, and that might be intriguing to utilize. As well as their impending move (not as soon as B&B, but we all know it will happen) and helping set up post-production at the new facility.
    • The last five or so episodes of season 8 after the Jean Hackney story ended were pretty strong with the Laura/Val friendship breakdown, Ben's PTSD with Val trying to help him, and the start of Jill realizing that Val was as much of a threat to her happiness with Gary as Abby was. I always thought that the Jean Hackney story should have ended at mid season at the latest... and then deal with the fall-out because seeing Ben/Val switch roles with Ben in mental decline instead of Val would have been interesting to explore.  And seeing Val and Laura's friendship suffer also was interesting and should have been explored especially with Karen caught in the middle and Abby both intrigued and amused at the conflict that she didn't cause. However, season 8 was the only Latham run season where Val was well written.
    • Well, she's not in there sweeping the floors at the end of the night, and you don't bring in an award-winning producer to just sit on their backsides (or hey, maybe you do!). Again, without knowing the specific capacity she's in there working as⏤and it seems as if we are not going to at the present time⏤it's hard to speculate/discuss. I would interpret she's in a role that either would not require being credited, or she's, as others have speculated, is back and not receiving credit for the work she's done. That'd be like saying, per the WGA, all writers must be credited, but as we've seen by those who've worked as fi-core, they don't always receive credit.

And, if my research is correct, per the DGA, you can request not to be credited for work you do. I could only assume the same would be for the PGA, as well.
    • When Anita read Barbara's letter, it started out with the viewers hearing it in Barbara's voice as Anita read silently. And then Anita saying the next portion aloud while Barbara's voice continued simultaneously. And then ending with Anita alone saying the last part aloud. Excerpt from interview  (link to full interview) The rest may be spoilerish -- Only the nonspoiler part here: I love the idea of reading that letter,” shares Tunie. “And at one point in the script, I think it said that my voice joined her, and [Anita] started reciting the letter from memory because [she] memorized this letter. I suggested to Steve Williford, our director, ‘What if it’s like that moment in Hamilton when Hamilton is writing the resignation letter to George Washington, and then he starts saying it too, and then Hamilton’s voice fades away, and then it’s all George. What if we do something like that?’ And he was like, ‘Oh, my God! I just got chills. Let’s do it!’ So, we did it.” I understood that it worked really well, so I’m really happy about that.”
    • I think MVJ and Guza made a good team in the launching of the soap, and I'm hoping that the rotation of all stories and characters is maintained once he officially departs from the credits. And so far, Ron C's breakdowns have been decent... but they pop only when he's paired with a good script writer like Jazmin.   I hope once Guza leaves officially... that MVJ is able to reign in Ron C and the dread Jamey G.
    • I read that, but my interpretation was that she is uncredited because it is in a non-production capacity.  In others words, she's not secretly producing, or writing, as some had speculated prior to the confirmation. Her likeliest position would be in a post-production consultant capacity. I assume we agree on this?
    • Errol already confirmed she is back at Y&R and in a non-producing role; this alludes to she is not credited for the role she has.
