I am not bored at all. I am eating this up. But that is the soap historian in me I guess. LOL

I have always said that daytime should do an Irna Phillip's bio movie. Or some motion picture should do it. It would be so good. So that side of it is wonderful.

LOL, this is LOADS better than the nonsence ATWT dished out last year. Paying tribute to THEIR show, rather than "old" sitcoms. I wonder what B&B will come up with.

I'm not familiar with GL history, but according to the the show's Wikipedia entry it began on NBC radio before moving to CBS.

But didn't early on in today's show, they say 'here on CBS radio' instead?

With the focus on Irna so much, this is more than a tribute to Guiding Light - it is a tribute to soap operas since she is the one who invented them.

This is wonderful. I can't stop saying that enough. And Justin Deas has Papa Bauer down to a tee.

Too bad they don't have Agnes Nixon in here or Bill Bell. Bill was her assistant on GL for awhile, and then it was Agnes and she turned the show over to Agnes for many years - just supervising her.

At first I was bored and wondered why they'd waste an episode on this but about 15 minutes in I was hooked. I'm surprised. It's like time is slipping by as the show is airing. It's really good and it's fun and informative.

Good job, GL!

I love this episode because many people just watch soaps for the sake of watching a soap. This teaches those viewers about what the genre is all about, why it exists.
