American Idol: Discussion Thread

Well, I wouldn't go that far Kenny. There have been many people with issues such as that who are famous and successful. Once she gets with someone who can help her, she will be fine. I don't see her winning anyway as she isn't as likeable as some of the others (especiall Jordin and Melinda) but I think she has improved quite a bit in terms of the way she is in interviews and such.

I wouldn't say Jordin and Melinda is a slam dunk. Those are my two as well but Blake can easily knock one of them out.

If you have a speech impediment, you shouldn't be a professional singer. If you have a speech impediment that keeps you from talking, you'll never be a star.

What about Mel Tillis?

Phil - just as boring as ever. He sucked tonight. The judges are on crack. I think they are building up the other people in the competition who suck so Sanjaya will go this week.

Jordin - a little boring in the beginning, but it picked up. I haven't watched every week, but she impresses me every week I do. I really love her. She should be in the final three, if it's based solely on talent. She can be the idol. She has the look, the voice, the talent, the humor, the personality, and the potential.

Sanjaya - hilarious. I love when he flirts with girls and tries to make the songs about girls when he clearly loves boys. I will say it takes guts to come out so positively every week. I am glad Simon was blunt this week. Love Simon.

Lakishia - boring. I don't like her. She should have learned from whatshername from last season. Never pick an Idol's song!!! I don't think she is humble at all.

Chris - I don't think Country is his thing. I love him, but I really wonder if he wants this. He doesn't have the desire and ambition the others do. F Idol. Do Playgirl.

Melinda - What is there to say? She's never looked better either. Give her a free pass to the final two.

Blake - That's not even a country song originally, moron!! (Much love to Ryan Adams, the original writer/performer.) He's not that great. I'm sorry. I hate the way he drabs and draws things out. And I HATE his mouth when he sings. I also hate how he never changes his performance at all. It's the same stupid thing every week.

Ryan Seacrest, I really cannot wait for five years down the line when you are on the unemployment line being a big loser because it's what you are, and it's what you deserve!!!

Everyone but Jordin and Melinda deserve to be in the bottom three.

Haha - I pretty much agree with everything you said here about last night.

Even the Blake's mouth thing - I can't STAND the way his mouth looks when he's singing and holding out notes.

LOL I thought I was the only one annoyed with Blake's mouth. It's annoying.

I agree Melinda & Jordin were better then everyone by a mile.

6. Sanjaya

7. Chris- Hate that he was pimping votes for the V Tech shooting.

The world is so cynical. Chris is from Virginia and probably has friends at Virginia Tech. If he hadn't said anything, people would probably be complaining about that.

I thought Lakisha was the worst. Hearing her sing a Carrie song showed me she is not going to win this thing. I just don't like Phil so I don't think he could do anything to change that. I was hoping Sanjaya would sing a real country song and wear a cowboy hat. What a let down.

I don't care for him, either.

It came off as very fake. Even Simon rolled his eyes.

While I'm sure that the condolences sent by Chris were heartfelt, I'm sure that a small part of him knew that it would work in his advantage by winning sympathy votes. Did anyone notice how Chris more or less interrupted the judges critique of him to bring up the Virginia Tech situation? As soon as Simon said something bad about him, he jumped in with the condolences line... seemed VERY obvious to me that he was trying to cut Simon off at the pass.

I'm watching a YouTube of Sanjaya's performance last night... gawd! LoL

Dude, no straight man smiles that big. NONE.

Also, it's "shiny, happy people," not "shining, happy people."

I just found out my 11 year old niece has been voting for Sanjaya and I've threatened to throw her cell phone into Lake Michigan. She says "but he's soo cuuuuuute". I'm to the point I can't even look at that kid any more. And I hate Ryan Seacrest even more than I already did because of the way he's been pimping him. I'm so glad Simon shut him up last night. Sanjaya started out as kind of a sweet, clueless young boy who seemed to have a little charm. Now he's an egotistical, arrogant, smirking kid not smart enough to realize he's become a huge joke. Fun and games are over, he needs to leave tonight.

But you no what is so bad about this whole ordeal...Randy, Simon and Paula put Sanjaya through to the top! They could have easily saw how horrible he would have been. They are all supposed to be so good at picking the next big star why did they screw up here. I place some blame at their feet.

You're right. And I remember his audition--I couldn't believe he made it through.
