You're right. Phillip is being changed. And that's a good thing. He was nothing but a cardboard prop before he left. Thank God he started showing signs of characterization before he left the last time... and even then, he was a furious hothead. He ran off to war because he felt betrayed by his wife, lost his child and ended up losing his face. Is he supposed to come back all smiles or something?

It's called character evolution. As characters go through experiences, they change... they grow... they become more complex and layered. Phillip has gone through alot, and it's bound to make an impact on the person that he is.

Now, I'd love to see Chloe come back for just a few episodes and see what her former love has turned into. I think that might be an interesting dynamic to play. Phillip, a man who's furious and scorned and hellbent on destruction, re-connecting with his first love... and MURDERING her. Bwahahaha!

Yeah, I can see how you like Hogan's version of Days.....

I'm glad it works for you.

I'll pass.

I can't believe that this show actually has characters being written with personalities and familial interactions once again and there are people actually COMPLAINING about it.

Just goes to show... you really can't please everyone.

I'll always have the summer of 2006 :D

And hopefully Days will improve. But it sounds like a lot of people like it. So that's good.

Yeah. Some fans think that couples together are boring, and want more couple-based drama. Some fans think that couples together is wonderful, and want more character-based drama. Some like romance out the ass, others don't. You'll never win.

I agree. How can one not like DAYS right now? Like you said, the characters have personalities now, and that's just to mention one thing that's awesome with the show.

ITA agree with this article, I love Stefano and Victor but it's time to move on. I'm not saying backburn or fire vets, because they NEED t obe there, but a time to pass the torch must come. And now it has. Victor and Stefano have had there time....and they can still be involved in all this storyline with EJ wreaking havoc on the Brady's or the Claire story, but not as the leading villian. That needs to be Philip and EJ.

Hogan is right...they are old. Even though the title seems harsh, it does make valid points. John Aniston can't exactly do as much as he could twenty years ago. He is a fantastic actor, but he can't do what he once could. His voice is weaker....and was it true that he had a heartattack some odd months back? He definately doesn't need to be seeing any extreme action. Same can be said about Stefano.

I can't believe fans are whining about this. I understand they want to see vets do more than be supporting...and I am with you in a way. But to some, it could be risking a serious heart attack to have them attack someone in a brutal fight. Vets can still be used, and should. But they, whether you all like it or not, can't be what they once were.

I'm all for it.

But... I don't want to see the EXACT same stories with EJ/Sami that happened with Stefano/Marlena. More than an homage to history it'll be repetitious and lazy.

I've always liked Victor 100000x times more than Stefano. I'm excited about Phillip but don't care much for the EJ aspect.

. But it wouldn't make me stop watching if they didn't. What made me stop is ruining EJ and other things such as Billie and Nick.)

I may be the only one but I actually LOVED the Billie/Nick stuff ... I thought it was very entertaining and funny!

Hogan rocks!!! Days has not been this good in a LONG, LONG time. I can't believe all the complaining ..... is it April fools day and I just don't know it?

The ghost of Douglas Marland could write this fricking show and people would complain.

LoL, you're right.

Days biggest problem is that it's like two different shows. Moreso than any other show on the air, it's had an identity crisis for the last nine years. In it's earlier years through the eighties, it was a traditional supercouple romance soap, drawing in soap purists. Then in the 90's, it became a more modernized, crazy, balls-to-the-wall, acid trip (in a good way) soap, drawing in a whole different generation of viewers looking for something different than the purists.

Ever since then, the show has had two totally different audience types watching the show, and when one is happy, the other is miserable, and vice versa. Quite literally, you cannot please everyone all at once with this soap opera. The audiences are far too contrasted against one another.

LoL, Bree, I have literally said the exact same thing, word for word. It's the truth. Just think how many ABC fans would kill to have Hogan writing their show right now.

I hope it works, but now Phillip is being changed too.

I don't like it. I hope everyone else does.

And yes, EJ was changed overnight from complex to thug. (This is not about Ejami. I would love them to get together. But it wouldn't make me stop watching if they didn't. What made me stop is ruining EJ and other things such as Billie and Nick.)

So you would rather have Philip being all boring like he's been... since forever? Give the guy a backbone.

EJ changed over night? So him knowing little details about Sami and him wanting to help her so much didn't seem suspicious to you at all? He was always there to "help her out" with a smugged expression on his face. Too annoying. Besides we already knew EJ was a bad guy and probably a DiMera pretty much from the beginning. So no surprise there.

LOL Billie and Nick. That was hilarious. I freakin enjoyed it just for what it was.
