 That's funny!

Is DAYS the only soap that has never revealed the state in which it is set?

I only watch OLTL, so that's why I am asking.

I know OLTL and AMC are set in Pennsylvania, and GH is in California isn't it? That's about all I know.

I live in a suburb of Chicago and have always pretended Salem is close by. I'm fairly close to the prison where Tony is incarcerated and my mom and I joke around that we're going to bake a file into a cake and visit him sometime. The rest of the family thinks we're way too involved in DAYS!

lol..yes way off. Its near Rochester to be exact. I used to think that Y&R was set in Cali just like B&B until a few years ago.

Days isnt the only soap that doesnt have an exact location. I dont beleive PSSNS does either. Its set in New England but I dont believe theres an actual state assocaited with it

I can't believe I thought Port Charles was in California...shows you how much I watch that show.

I do know that both Llanview and Pine Valley are both suburbs of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania...and are across the river from one another; but that's about all I know.

I actually watched that week and you are right, it was in Camden, Maine. My best friend used to have to go there every summer as her father lived there and I had been there many times. So many of the locations looked familiar and now that you said Camden it all came back.

I remember back in the day on GH when Luke and Robert were looking for the Cassadines and it was during the Ice Princess story. I specifically remember Robert pointing to a map and Port Charles was where Buffalo, NY is.

GH's Port Charles is in between Rochester and Buffalo. (which are about an hour apart) I remember when Luke and Laura returned they filmed those helicpopter and river scenes close to Rochester. I live right outside of Buffalo, and back in the 80's Luke and Laura had some adventure and they filmed some location spots in my town. I was quite young then, but my cousin tells me this, they were filming and renting a house to shoot in just down the street from her.

Sometimes GH knows there stuff about location, like in the early 90's they had Jim Kelly of the Buffalo Bills make a cameo, and Ned was Eddie Main in Buffalo. But then I also remember a time when Tom Hardy and Felicia told Lucy and Kevin they were just coming back from a afternoon trip to the OCEAN !! They took a 20 hour round trip in one afternoon? LOL

And last year GH had a hurricane! Well, we just don't get hurricanes coming up through here. So I had a good laugh at that.

    • Of all the triangles Rauch and Co. were into...I can't believe they never revisited Harley and Jarsh. Well, I know its because they have to have two women fighting over one man and one woman is evil, but would have been cool to have a no villain triangle...(and saved us from Gush...) And it would have driven the Java nuts and Pharley nuts crazy!!!
    • Totally agree. AL isn’t suited to Summer written this way (which is, truthfully, in character). HK wasn’t credible in the boss-bitch moments, which AL plays more easily.

I’m glad Tripp is back in Salem and I like that he’s planning on being more assertive. He doesn’t deserve to get hurt again. Though I wouldn’t be surprised if some people in the Soap Universe are gonna be mad about his lines today Hopefully, we get some scenes of Johnny/Tripp and Wendy/Chanel. There haven’t been that many lately and this storyline definitely needs them. I think weaving Talia into it would be a good idea as well. She needs a new man now that the Colin storyline is over.  Rafe is still dumb. There really are no security cameras at that hospital that could have shown that Colin didn’t take Abe?? Speaking of Abe, his storyline is total ff material. James Reynolds deserves so much better than this.
    • I've been rewatching early SATC (am mid-season 2), and am enjoying the mid-90s indie film vibe of the show at that time. It was a bit tougher and grittier but it also showed some of the growing wealth of the city at that time. SATC was always about pecking order and jostling for a better position, but on the romantic frontlines. I also enjoyed the Bad Dating SLs LOL. I understand why it went the fairytale-ish route. Part of this mirrored the evolution of the city itself, as Manhattan became more moneyed and, dare I say, unaffordable. It was a glamorous city that many aspired to live in and conquer against the odds. Part of it was also, as the show progressed, our own growing investment in the main cast and their SLs. Hence less standalone episodes and more a continuing soapy story of romantic relationships. IMO, this was a fairly organic evolution.
    • Lanier is fine but I miss Hunter King as well. A lot of the material AL is struggling with currently HK would’ve had an easier time playing, she could knock out those bratty whiny freakout moments with little effort. AL’s Summer should be written as icier and more indignant.
