Is Passions being cancelled?

No, King, that's not the purpose at all. I want the soap saved so NBC can dictate pacing and when to end stories that aren't working. Also, so the show could get a co-headwriter. NBC wielded its power with "Days" to force its renewal so they can do the same with "Passions," and the show will be BETTER for it.

I just really wouldn't blame NBC for cancelling Passions. I really wouldn't. I don't WANT them to, but I wouldn't blame them.

It's been nearly 8 YEARS. It's still at the bottom of the pack. Something has to be done, and JER obviously isn't rushing to make any changes. So, apparently, NBC is.

I disagree. That translates to loyalty to a network who isn't loyal to its soap fans. WE NEED the anti-NBC campaign because we're viewers and our eyeballs will leave their stations if the network cancels our soaps. It seems pretty logical to me. Strength is found in numbers and in proving the power of the relationship between the network's loyalty to fans and vice versa. It also speaks volumes of soap fans and their power.

You're not crazy. Several of the mainstream publications pointed that out. Entertainment Weekly documented the series high, back in 2001, in an article called "NBC Soaps Float." The show scored those numbers for the resolution the buried alive/Theresa's engagement storylines in December 2000. The show once again scored the coveted 2.9 rating in a later year, though I forgot which. It was around the holidays, though.

The only thing this thread is missing is you, Gabe.

We could use some scoop so we can get back to the topic at hand.

As for banners, I agree with King. We need to emphasize the point to NBC that Passions needs JER out or major changes made if it is too remain. That kind of thing should be in the banner.

    • Yes he was. Ted had a dark side. One thing I noticed that different is I felt OG Ted had the capacity to kill Leslie if she pushed him too hard. I don’t get with this Ted as he’s been far too patient with her . His angry doesn’t convey the darkness that the character had before. He was ain’t ish in a way I came to feel was worse than Bill. I don’t think the new guy portrays him more from a heroic standpoint.
    • Same.  They are easy to tell apart. I had trouble telling Chad Duell and the guy that played Dex apart at times, but these guys are just like men that look slightly similar?  Not even the same age range. I don't really get your point.  These people aren't the Ford brothers.
    • Frank did the same thing on OLTL
    • It would have been cute if Lucky did perform and dedicated a song to Elizabeth who couldn't be there, but we don't get nice things Blaze wasn't actually that good of a singer.  I judge Miguel Morez (more than usual) for his taste in opening acts.
    • Facially they don't look that similar. I don't think anyone would compare Rory, Giovanni and Van aside from their hair. Van is also 43, so...I'm sure he would find being compared to some of these guys flattering. Rory reminds me a little of that unsettling actor who played that godawful son on Nip/Tuck. I doubt it was intentional to go that route with Michael, but it would be interesting if they do try to bring back how deeply unsettling Michael was as a child.
    • Sorry.  I sincerely should not have brought that thought into the world.

    • True. Maybe Jonathan was willing to perform and Frank just didn't care. I hope not, as they had to spend money they don't have by hiring some other artist to come in and perform one number. (maybe that's where Blaze would have gone if she were still around)
    • I mean, casting handsome, young, white men with floppy hair isn't exactly a new thing for soaps.  All these characters are supposed to be handsome, young, white men so it's not odd. If we want to talk about Trina's love interest being Cardboard Kai I can agree.  This isn't the same thing.
    • Leslie is nuts! Her pretending to be Nicole was peak insane. Trisha has plenty to put in an Emmy reel so far, but that could seal a nomination. NuTed finally did something to break out of the background and hopefully he keeps it up. Vanessa trying to stand up for Nicole wasn't wrong, but she has no room to judge anyone on adultery. Doug seems like a good person outside of the gambling and clearly has never cheated, yet Vanessa has constantly played in his face with her cheating. Tracy got Anita to be truthful and for the mask to slip. If Tracy is this direct I cannot imagine how much Sharon is going to go in.
    • Do NOT jinx this year or next year.
