2007: The Directors and Writers Thread

Thanks to YouTube, I've been able to pilfer a select few writing credits from the 1990's from AMC and OLTL... Interesting, since I was in 6th to 12th grade during these dates and I didn't start paying attention to who wrote what until, conveniently, 12th grade. So seeing who was on staff at AMC especially was quite a surprise. I didn't know Agnes Nixon wrote in the early 1990s. I just assumed it was Maggie DePriest and Chris Whitesell and then McHack took the reigns in 1991/1992.

Take a peek...

I can't wait to put: "James Harmon Brown and Barbara Esesten last listed as Script Editors on......." :D I just have a feeling they were badly influencing Hogan and Meg. LOL

I think they'll start off strong. They're first 6 months will be good. After that, I think they'll start to go downhill.

It's going to be interesting to see who they bring to their writing staff and who'll be leaving. I wonder if it's going to a blood bath like DAYS and Y&R, but I'm thinking they're just be a few changes.

I thought that Courtney Simon leaving was pretty much a done deal, and someone had posted about it here weeks ago! I might be confusing things, but I do remember reading something like that already. The person who posted about it also said that Courtney Simon was retiring, not going to another soap. Does anyone else remember this?

A big Hell no to that Gotta keep Amanda Beall & Michelle Patrick there the 2 best Breakdown Writers that AMC has and you have to keep Karen Lewis and Marla Kanelos these 2 script Writers really know the show and the character.

    • Head trip for EON fans and thanks to @GymnastGuy who's been posting tons of Search episodes on YouTube.  SFT August 22 1985 episode Executive Producer: Erwin Nicholson who produced Edge for nearly two decades; this was his last job (9 months starting March 85 through Nov). • Ahh...so in that case it's more of a gray area. But I still think Lulu  has ground to tell Dante as she co-parents with him.
    • Well Disney owns the archive of all ABC soaps plus Santa Barbara. There are no known plans for Disney to do anything at all with the archive. Some of us are very excited because GH has done modern digitizing of original scenes of young Lucky & young Liz to use as flashbacks now & the past few months. Jerome Dobson last year teased that Santa Barbara might be streamed sometime. It had been tied up in some litigation & that is over now. The reason Disney owns it: it was owned by New World. FOX bought them. Disney bought all of FOX.
    • I casually watched it as a kid, but I finally started X-Men: The Animated Series season 1. It's going to be fun watching it from beginning to end.
    • Thank you very much for the information!!! All the episodes that person sells are the ones which appear or have appeared in youtube, and some have wrong dates.  Due to that, I guess some people, who have rare and inedite episodes, refuse to upload them in internet, because then, others make money. I hope ABC create a place in the net where we can see all the available episodes they must have, as Retro tv did with the Doctors!!!! Retro tv did an awesome job!!!! Have a look :

    • Dina was Jack, Ashley and Tracy's mom on Y&R.  Joanna was Lauren Fenmore's mother, played by Susan Seaworth-Hayes.
    • The funeral was not onscreen - only the Brooks returning home after the service. Not aware of any available clips.
    • Very very well said!!!

I would only add that Sam Ratcliff is frequently named in regards to certain AW comedic turns.  And, we know from Carolyn Culliton (tweet 2024) that Sam & Gary put their heads together & came up with that gorilla.
    • I knew you would be so excited seeing your girl Brookey as #1!!!! She also WINS as to Frequently Married!!!
