I loved this part:

TVGuide.com: Your TV doctor, Robin Scorpio, has hinted that the cure for Laura's catatonic state might only work temporarily. So we can guess what that means...

Francis: [Laughs] It's a medication that only works during a Sweeps period.

 Glad to see she has a sense of humor about things. I hope she can stay longer, but I understand if she doesn't with all her personal obligations.

If she doesn't stay longer it's because GH doesn't want her. She mentioned that she asked to come back before and they turned her down. It's Luke and Laura's 25th and this is good promo for sweeps. The ratings are in the gutter and this is the only reason they were willing to bring her back.

It's quite obvious.

Its such a shame GH is based on the west coast, cause i just dont see Genie uprooting her great life in Maine to trust those bastards at abc.

I agree, especially how fondly she speaks of Maine and her commitment to her husband and children. ABC's screwed her over before, I wouldn't put it past them again.

As much as I love having her back she needs to take care of her own life.

I agree...I wouldn't trust this show at all.

It was all a stunt. "Hey let's wake that old broad up for sweeps."

"And you know what? We can sell coffee mugs and other bobbles too with the ole gal getting up."

"Awesome...but let's make sure it's only for the sweeps money."

"After that she's goes back to the rocker."

Shame Shame everyone know your name GH.

Brian Frons is a [!@#$%^&*] as*hole.

Didn't he say nobody wants to see an old fat woman in a love story? How Francis could return to them is beyond me.

That's right, Mr. Frons. Because we'd all prefer to see an old, fat man running ABCD instead.

In a way, I'm glad that GF's return is just a one-time sweeps stunt.

I shudder to think what they'd do to her character if she came back full time. I know it sounds like she wants to return from her interview, but she'll be happier in Maine.

Love her.

Everybody is right...Genie Francis has brought such a warmth to the show.

However, I'm not too pleased how they are writing the story. And WTF was up with Bobbie's LACKLUSTER reaction. That is STILL pissing me off. I wish a new regime would come in before Zeman jumps ship, because I love her on GH.

Old news, hon... Old news.

Tracy's reaction was more believable than Bobbie's. Speaking of Bobbie, will Laura Wright's Character ever have a scene with Bobbie discussing this whole Sonny/Jax/Marriage thing? LOL!

I love Genie and wish the Laura character was cured permanently... write her out to South Carolina or something, but quit with the mental illness. It's just incredibly unworthy of such an iconic character.

While I really want Genie back, I can't count the number of times I've wished my favorite actors and characters were on Y&R or some better, (generally) kinder show. I adore Genie and she's put many of her cast mates to shame this last week (imo), but somehow I think she's safer in Maine. I hate to think of her subjected to the nasty things Frons has said about her in the past all over again. It never fails to stun me how little he knows about what the audience wants to see. You'd think those falling ratings on all the shows he oversees might clue him into that.

Ok, this is off topic but this vintage magazine cover is too good to share - Genie during her AMC days as Ceara with those other powerhouses Kate Collins & Julia Barr! Id give anything to see them all in scenes together. :P

TVGuide.com: It's great to see Laura awake. It was so depressing to think of her sitting alone in Shadybrook mental hospital, staring blankly at a wall for years. That seemed like an undignified way to leave things, both for you and for the character.

Francis: Yes, I know, I know. Believe me, I was not happy at all, but there was nothing that I could do. I did make one appeal at the end [of my run in 2002] to change the story. They said, "Sorry, it's already been written, but if you do come back, we will address it on your return." They do a more dignified departure for me this time. They also deal with some other aspects of that hasty way they sent me out the door. So they are making some efforts to rebuild the character from the way they left her before — his made me very happy. [Laughs]

Ok this section makes me think maybe she doesnt go back Catonic maybe they think she might. Just because LS49 is temporary doesnt mena she has to lose her lucidity. Maybe she goes to a hospital for more treatments and tests.
