I don't think there are any plans to recast the characters and thank God because TPTB would have a really hard time finding two actors who generate that amount of natural chemistry as Pelphrey & Gatschet. Not to mention have the ability to play dark, depressing scenes like those two.

There is one thing I've noticed about Pelphrey/Gatschet --- they play angst better than anyone else on daytime at the moment.

Yeah, exactly the reason I have to completely disagree with Julia about recasting Tammy & Jonathan. There's a reason TPTB over at GL keep giving these two material that borders and often walks the line of portraying Jammy's relationship and characters as unhealthy and messed up: Because Pelphrey/Gatschet can totally pull it off. To me, characters don't equal actors. It is the actors and the writing which ultimately make the characters and it just wouldn't be Tammy & Jonathan if they were recasted.

Yesterday's scenes, I think, even surpassed the scenes last year in the barn where Tammy & Jonathan admitted they felt a connection to each other and Tammy went on about how she wanted to hate herself for wanting anything to do with him but put a knife in his face for what he did to her. Jonathan suggested that she could save him and she completely rejected the idea. I remember watching those scenes for the first time and being amazed about how something so well-writtenly dark, complex and well-acted could possibly be on daytime.

One thing that struck me as odd this week is finding out that Olivia resented her baby. I feel like they did a little bait and switch on me. If she hated that child why did she go look for the records? Why did she say things like "I won't lose another daughter"? Before long we are going to find out that Olivia does know who Ava's father is now, but she couldn't be bothered to drop that into her conversation with Buzz. <_<

I think Olivia resented her baby when she was pregnant. You could tell until recently when she found out that Ava was her daughter that she wanted to try and work things out by begging Ava to forgive her. When Ava wouldn't, Olivia's hate for her became full-blown once again. Olivia's "love" for Ava is completely conditional. Out of motherly instinct, she wanted everything to be okay between the two of them but it's unrealistic and she realizes that just because they are mother and child doesn't take away the hate that's already there.

I'd be way more into this story if they have found a different actress to play Ava. Michelle Ray Smith just doesn't impress me enough to care. I don't care to see her being portrayed as a victim while both Coop and Alan-Michael are 100% behind her corner.
