Members alwaysAMC
Thanks Rick! I think I read that ABC moved Ugly Betty to Thursday nights since it has gained a lot of buzz.
Members PMac
^ Yeah, I think it's coming on right before Grey's Anatomy on Thursday nights - at least that's what the promo that aired Sunday night said.
Members DaysForever
Yep. You both are right. Ugly Betty has been moved to Thursday nights at 8 as part of a lead-in for Grey's. All of which I don't understand because how many viewers is Betty going to attract? It seems like an awful show and I sure won't be watching. Without a better lead-in, I'm guessing Grey's will probably only get about 14-15 million viewers this season. That's down from its average of about 19-20 million last year. IMO, moving Grey's from Sunday to Thursday nights, against CSI no less, was a stupid move on ABC's part. They should've just left it where it was to continue the Sunday night powerhouse. Members Ms. Walsh
I'm glad that FOX is starting in Aug/Sept. I remember one year they waited until November because of the World Series, and it sucked. That was definitely a bad idea. The only show I watch on it, though, is The Simpsons; otherwise, I hate FOX. I guess comedies are unpopular. Of the Big Three, only Mondays on CBS and Thursdays on NBC have comedy show line-ups. I'm surprised that they moved GA opposite CSI. Personally, I can't stand CSI, so I'll definitely watch GA. ABC tends to make really strange decisions, though, regarding its programming. Remember when Thursday nights used to be NBC's night? Those days are long-gone! I never thought anything could change that.
Members DaysForever
Well, Ms. Walsh, once Friends and Frasier were cancelled, their Thursday lineup went down the tubes like a speeding bullet. I'm afraid to say this, but does anyone else feel that comedies are slowly sliding away from the airwaves to make room for MORE dramas?
Members Adam
CSI: Miami I think finally could be about to lose their death grip on that 10pm Monday night timeslot. I know I will definately be watching Studio 60 on the 18th. The cast is amazing and it looks really good. Frasier was never on Thursday nights. The Must See TV Thursday's for NBC starting dying a slow death when Seinfeld was cancelled all the way back in 1998 and officially died when Friends went off the air. Coupled with the rising popularity of CSI and the rest of CBS's line up. NBC may never get it back now, at least not this year especially since ABC appears to be rolling out the big guns. Who would have thought Thursday nights NBC wouldn't even have a fighting chance. They will no doubt finish 3rd Thursdays this season. No doubt in my mind. Members Toadstool
It aired on CTV (in Canada) last night (Sunday the 17th) at 10. I liked what I saw but I wonder about the network's confidence in the show given that they scooped its U.S. premiere on a Canadian station. Members Adam
Studio 60 is probably the best new show this season. Although it didn't garner in your face ratings, hopefully it will be one of those slow building shows that just explodes with popularity. If not... then well NBC can't seem to catch a break. Members jhc2010
FYI: Seinfeld wasn't cancelled, the Cast refused to renew it. No one would ever cancel the Number 1 Rated Show!
Members DruRocks
I think Brothers and Sisters is the best new series. Brillantly written and acted. I loved it.
