ATWT Discussion for the Week of 08/14-08/18

Gwen is the kind of character who is a lot better when she's not involved w/ a guy. It's the same w/ Carly. I absolutely cannot stand Carly when she's w/ Jack, and I know that on ATWT that's almost sacreligious to say...but IMO it's true. She's such a watered-down character when she and Jack are "happily married." That's why I'm beyond-thrilled that they are no longer together, and I'm going to savor every moment of her not being w/ Jack (b/c we all know they'll be back together in several months' time) b/c once they're back and happy, she'll be boring once again.

And that's exactly how it is w/ Gwen. The minute she and Will got together, she became boring. I like the two together, but not enough to want Gwen to go back to how she was in the beginning. She was a lot tougher and stood up for herself.

As for Jade, I think the writers want her to be bad anyway. I think the show needs the "bad teen" to shake things up for everyone. She's a character that I like to hate, so I'd like to see her stay around for a long time. Before she got involved, Will and Gwen were a boring couple. I didn't start supporting them until Will slept w/ Jade anyway.

Very well said, I myself am starting to support Jade and Will because I don't want Gwen to be with him anymore.

Also right now I am really enjoying the Maddie/Louis storyline. It is creepy and I am drawn to watch it. I think it will be interesting when everyone else finds out that he raped her and I am wondering how Eve will react.

I refuse to buy a Dusty and Lucy relationship. I don't understand how people can already support them together too. I think Lucy had good chemistry w/ Damian, even though he would be a total creep (and not in a good way) if he slept w/ her. I cannot believe that there are people who have been supporting a reunion since they found out that Lucy was being re-casted! That shows you how "sincere" the majority of the "Lusty" fans are...that they'd take any two actors, as long as their characters' names are Lucy and Dusty, and not even think about what kind of chemistry the actors are going to have on-screen.

I do too. His wife just died, it isn't like they broke up. And you can totally see how "sincere" they really are  . They will take mediocre acting and no chemistry for the sake of a couple  That is just annoying to say the very least. I don't understand the point of being that fanatical over something that really doesn't exist.

Please. If you paid attention you would see that many Lusty fans have struggled with this recast and this storyline. Very few of them are all gung-ho about Lusty. Some see chemistry but think the writing is awful or the characters in their current form don't mix well; others don't see much chemistry or just aren't as into it with a new actress as Lucy. I fall into the latter category.

All of which is typical behaviour for a fanbase, of course. I don't get the need to diss Lusty fans. ATWT could really use buzz like the kind GM and PL's Lusty got them, though it won't work with GM acting like he's on drugs and both characters having lost their essence. Oh well.

I miss Damian :(
