  1. Damn, I haven't watched this show in ages, and the "problem" with so many seasons, let alone the novella season(s), is that I don't even know where to begin in terms of catching up. I'll say this though... I hope that PP's AMC/OLTL reboots will have some of the flavor of Degrassi. I can't speak on the more recents episodes and seasons as a whole, but historically, they have done thirty minute soap VERY well. To help me out, which season had Emma and them in college? I think I would have to start from there. I know there was a transgendered character, I think that was the start of the first novella season. This show has a very special place in my heart (my ex-girlfriend and I stumbled upon TNG one Sunday afternoon while eating brunch, and in a "silly" way, it became "our show"... next thing you know, we were obsessed and bought all of the '80s episodes on Roku) so I would love to get caught up sometime soon.
  2. You're welcome! I didn't watch AW coming up so I never saw any of Iris during the original run. I was very anxious to at least see Carmen's Iris, especially after seeing how different she looked from Beverlee in pictures and reading about her Australian accent. I did a little research and made sure I was recording around the week she'd be showing up.

Who is Jayma? Is she the Glee teacher's fiancee? If that is her in fact, I think she did a great job with that Sondheim "patter" song, and I say that as someone who is not a Sondheim-phile like EricMontreal.
  4. I was flipping around last night and saw that Joan Collins was on. She said that a Dynasty reboot has been shopped around town but turned down by all of the networks.
  5. I never watched PC but episodes still got taped by my mother (or me when I just wanted AMC and OLTL). I'm currently editing a PC episode and it's so funny for me to put faces to the names I've been hearing on GH. I had no idea that Rafe was played by Gaskill, or that Father Ricky from AMC had been on PC.
  6. Thanks for the clarification, I was quick to blame ReRon.
  7. Yes, I was watching at that time when Jessica was doing things like leaving a mangled baby doll on Dorian's front step. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think RC retconned that it was in fact Tess who was doing all of those awful things to Dorian after Jessica lost the baby. Robin Strasser hated what they did to Dorian in that s/l.
  8. Did she get that tattoo in prison?
  9. Carl, when I saw that I had an episode with Kevin, I immediately thought of you.
  10. As I upload these episodes, it's Tony who I find unbearable.
  11. If you lean back, the design of her dress looks like the iconic Louis Vuitton pattern:
  12. Alimi's Frankie was on The City too. I noticed that music cue in the scene with Jacob and Tanya sounded very The City-like. The Jane Elliot connection was very interesting as she'd later return in actor form as Tracy. I wonder if it was hard for her not to "call the shots" when she saw [!@#$%^&*] being done incorrectly.
  13. A lil' somethin' my VCR found. Absolutely no comment on Frankie in the closing credits: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7C1JiDI6Q98
  14. He had been married to Siân Phillips and in her second bio she mentions how excited they were when he booked the role of Adam in the reunion movie. May he rest in peace.
  15. Philip Anthony-Rodriguez is also a soap alum. He played Bernardo on The City.
  16. I would agree with that. What we're talking about here is a huge issue worthy of its own thread, if not a couple threads.
  17. Yes, I saw it. It was funny to see "Ryan" with a quasi-Bob Newhart stammer getting all hot and bothered over The Real World Tami ("It WASN'T! NOT! FUNNY!"). And yes, I know she's garnered newfound fame from Basketball Wives, but she'll always be RealWorldTami to me. CM/Ryan really used to get on my nerves and I was surprised by the fact that I actually grinned when he showed up. It's like running into someone you didn't particularly care for in high school but with the passage of time you're more inclined to remember the good ol' days.
  18. Did a little Googling, and the episode in question aired on January 15, 1997, so yeah, roughly two months before The City's last episode on March 28. Mantooth went on to play another character on OLTL and I had totally forgotten about that. I have vague memories of people saying that he should be paired with Slezak or Strasser. The other day, I found a Sydney/Jackson Montgomery crossover episode that I'd forgotten I'd taped.
  19. I agree. I think she would rather focus on and lift up her daughter's best and brightest qualities as she knew them. I think what was said/unsaid in that OWN interview and by Robyn and others really says it all. I think Cissy has her gut instincts re: the Robyn relationship but without solid proof she'll leave it at, "I don't know for sure."
  20. Maybe he was on another time that I missed, but Alex's OLTL appearance with Bo was while TC was still on the air. That's when the OLTL crew comically did all of those TC-style quick zooms and shaky shots over *funky* music to establish that they were in... The City. I still have a Christmas episode on tape where Steffi is pregnant and Cooper makes a surprise visit. Deborah, who had hit the lottery and bought Alden mansion, is also in the episode.
  21. After watching that Cissy interview on OWN, I checked out some online clips of The Houstons: On Our Own. It made me SO SAD to see how Bobbi was brushing off her grandmother. I don't see Cissy's book as disrespectful, or trying to "cash in" on their family tragedy (Pat, OTOH...). I think Cissy is devastated, alone, trying to work through her grief, and trying to get the last word, so to speak, on her beloved daughter. What's been said about Whitney for practically the last two decades of her life has been terribly disparaging and I think Cissy just wants the world to know who her daughter was at her very best.
  22. Agreed. She and/or her people are trying to market her as a type that she is not. At least not yet.

Wales, that's correct, they changed James' clothes a couple of times in the casket. He had a wake/musical celebration at Cornerstone then a funeral (with of course more music) at the Shrine Auditorium. Much of it is on YouTube, including shots of James laid out, which is not for everybody if you don't like looking at dead people. Wales, I didn't even know that Jody Watley was in Shalamar until Unsung. I always knew her as a solo artist. ♫I was too blind to see, when you belonged to me, you were my everything...♫
