  1. I think it's pretty amazing that so many consistently front burner characters NEVER were portrayed by temporary replacements. I guess we have impeccable immune systems and artful scheduling to thank for that. Did Don Hastings ever have a temp replacement? I don't think the most famous longtime senior AMC cast members ever did, which is pretty remarkable, particularly for Susan who wasn't of advanced age by show's end and continued to push A plots.

I saw that yesterday, Barbara makes me sick. Just seeing her hand in the air like that in the freeze frame annoys me. It's so obvious that they have some sort of personal relationship and she's biased and defending him. She would never stand up for somebody she doesn't know like that. Though she would totally do her usual unnecessary damage control.
  3. Last week someone made a snarky comment on my friend's FB page about seeing him on some show, it totally went over my head, but turns out he was the escort on tonight's episode. Small world. The main character annoys me. His new boss reminds me of Ricky Gervais. And I did NOT realize that was the dude from GL. He looks so much older.
  4. There was also question of whether or not the scene as originally written is what made it to air.
  5. Wendy is infamous for pronouncing names incorrectly. Jake Jill-in-HY-uhl for example.
  6. Susie's going to be on Oprah's Where Are They Now? on OWN this Friday at nine. Remember my fantasy about a cross-promotional appearance where she'd also appear as Erica for her splashy return to PP's AMC on OWN?

Oop! I guess I was thirsty for some drama, lol. BTW y'all, I'm aware of the fact that I accidentally posted my last post an annoying four times but I blame SON for not doing what I tell her to do when I tell her to do it and I'm not trying to sit here tapping backspace on my phone for five minutes.

Did anyone watch Rosie's show on OWN? I didn't but I've seen clips. It wasn't bad but it was clear that it had a rough time finding its identity. I actually really like Rosie and I think it's sad that the show failed. The whole Harpo thing seemed like a nice idea. The situation is reminiscent of Caroline Rae taking the baton from Rosie and her show failing. Did anyone watch Rosie's show on OWN? I didn't but I've seen clips. Whoa, I swore I clicked the wrong button and this was an old post. Whoopi and Rosie? All that alpha comedienne energy. When Rosie joined the show, Joy began to over compensate, and when Whoopi joined, she never laughed at Joy's quips. That's also a lot of liberal energy on the show so I don't imagine a lot of opposing views, so the show will probably more closely resemble its clone, The Talk, where everyone seems to agree and I don't think they've ever gotten into an argument. Rosie can't help herself though, I'm sure we can expect at least one headline making blowout much to the delight of Barbara and Bill.
  10. I thought the first scene's dialogue was a bit much, but then I thought about how comically raunchy my straight, gay, female friends can be in conversation. Maybe there was something about the fact that it was scripted with a healthy dose of intentional shock value that rubbed me wrong.
  11. So far, I think the most likeable character is the latino dude the main dude met on the train, and if tonight's episode is any indication, looks like that may be the last we see of him. That's too bad, and again, it's still very early, but I don't find any of the main characters particularly likeable/"rootable". The black guy in the relationship with latino guy reminds me of Roger G. Smith and Craig David.
  12. It was NOTHING like Girls. It was not "funny" at all. Not bad, just not funny. I'll see what episode two is like, I thought episode one was just fine. But compared to that Sunday evening's Girls and True Detective, it was the weakest of the night's offerings. I won't judge though, because a pilot is a pilot. Slowness is par for the course. I will say though, I had to catch myself when I asked myself, "So what makes this show special? How is it different from QAF?" The problem with such questioning is, it's totally unfair to compare a "gay show" to another "gay show" just because it's gay. That's like saying Good Times is superfluous because Sanford and Son was already a black sitcom. I'll give this show a chance because I tend to trust HBO's offerings on gp. We'll see.
  13. Yes, Aunt Grace, the wonderful Lynn Thigpen. I am friends with Lynn's former agent, and she established a memorial program for Lynn and Bobo Lewis. They do acting seminars for folks entering the business. I attended one where the special guest was Judy Blye-Wilson, who cast Lynn on AMC as Grace (Lynn had formerly appeared on AMC as Aunt Cora Baxter in the early '80s). Lynn was in the Godspell movie with Victor Garber, Gimme a Break as Nell Carter's sister, Lean on Me, Where in the World is Carmen San Diego? as the Chief, et cetera, et cetera...
  14. Wow, I was not expecting that. I bet the next day at school everybody was like, "Damn Kev, why you make your mama cry like dat??" She really put his behind on Front Street.
  15. My bad, never saw it written out, I always heard it as "Charlotte".
  16. Skye's "mother" (pre-Rae retcon) was named Althea. Charlotte was also the name of Mrs. Valentine's granddaughter (played by Tichina Arnold) and Anna and Alex Devane's "mother" (played by Samantha Eggar).
  17. Why was she crying? Cheap, how in the hell do you not get FOX? That is like the most basic of the basic. I shouldn't talk though. I knocked my digital antenna box and antenna off the TV so many times that I ended up busting up my reception and I didn't get ABC and CBS for months.
  18. Can't stand Kim, but I love her mink coat in this vid.

  20. That was so creepy/corny seeing Jeremy standing there as a human statue. I liked that they gave Gwyn a throwaway line about Erica Kane calling to give her condolences.
  21. I wish The City was available for streaming on Amazon or hulu. I was so excited for that show and unfortunately missed much of it. Too bad I wasn't better at remembering to set the VCR, but 10th grade was pretty hectic.
  22. Ritchie Coster (GL) starred in tonight's excellent episode of The Blacklist. He'll star in next week's episode as well, the series' first two-parter.

First of all, what are you doing up at 4:54 in the morning posting on SON? LOL. No, they did not specify how Finn died. In his opening voiceover, Kurt has a line about people focusing on how Finn died and what does that really matter instead of focusing on how he lived (obvious reference to CM). Honestly, I only tuned in to see how they handled the tribute, I haven't watched the show since. But I did see Ryan Murphy being briefly interviewed on Access Hollywood and he said he didn't know when and how, but he felt obligated to eventually address it in specifics. I thought this was the last season so I guess we'll know sooner than later.
  24. Re: Carlo's return, I thought Thom and Tonja had great chemistry and OTT Alex torn between Asa and Carlo was a hoot. The story was a bit of a dud though. I'm not a big music cues person like some fans, but the one for Poseidon/Carlo is probably my most favorite. It's just a few ominous bluesy piano chords. Another favorite, Viki's eerie "haunted music box" DID chords. Hell, OLTL had great background music at the time. The "Dorian's up to something" music was also good. Did the guy who wrote the synth Champage and Satin Sheets theme also do the incidental music?
  25. AW and GL's David Andrew MacD onald was on tonight's episode of NBC's The Blacklist.
