Knots Landing
I was flipping through the channels the other night, and landed on Joan and Donna on Oprah's Where Are They Now? show on OWN. It must be a fairly recent episode because Donna talked about her guest stint on GH. Coincidently, I saw her in some show on Ion this evening. She was playing a woman who began a sexual relationship with her son after her husband's rejection and was now attempting to seduce her grandson before being murdered by her daughter. It was... disturbing.

Star isn't a bad idea though I'm beginning to think if they bring in another black woman they will want to go younger, like late twenties to mid-thirties. I would love someone like Tichina Arnold or Tisha Campbell though. I think Star got a raw deal and I felt sorry for her when her own show was cancelled so soon. As a matter of fact, I remember her interviewing Whoopi when she was joining The View.

I like Rosie. I wonder if she and Whoopi would work though as two alpha comediennes. Whoopi never seemed willing to share the comedic spotlight with Joy, and Joy tried too hard to be as funny as Rosie, and Rosie is too much of a control freak to sit on a panel, let alone not be the moderator.

How you gonna throw somebody else's Emmy at somebody?? Because it certainly wasn't hers.

I'm not sure that "compromised" is the right word, perhaps she "compromised" with surrogacy, but I think Sherri definitely wanted more children but she was just waiting for a new husband to have them with. I distinctly remember an episode where she referred to her frozen, unfertilised eggs as her "babies" and how she had no intention of ever having them destroyed, it was just a matter of when in terms of IV. So I guess she tried and it was unsuccessful. Now she's trying to dodge a bullet, Sal, trying to use biology as a defense, but the fact of the matter is, she's equally responsible for this child's creation. Bringing this baby into the world is a decision they made as a couple. If the roles were reversed and Sal was all, "Not my sperm. Peace out!", I don't think we'd be looking at him too favorably.

This poor child. No one deserves to be brought into this world under the burden of lifelong scandal. I swear, some people just do not deserve children. They are not pawns, they are not playthings. Creating a child can be one of the most selfish, self-serving acts a human can commit. It is not about you. It is about that baby who did not ask to exist.

HA! And I agree, a male host is going against the show's very concept and I don't know why they insist upon this parade of male guest hosts. I can't sit through an entire episode of this show, I'd rather watch Paternity Court or Wendy Williams, but not a single one of the male guest hosts has impressed me. They have all been flat, lifeless unknowns who contribute nothing of worth to the conversation.

She's got a special coming on Friday, I'm sure it's to promote that. Ugh.

Yeah, it's pretty. Good God, her tits are so [!@#$%^&*] huge. She says she's a big girl so she needed big implants, but my Lord...

GH: Classic Thread
A few weeks ago, Antenna TV aired the episode of Too Close for Comfort where Monroe falls in love with Jackie's co-worker who (naturally) turns out to be a man borrowing his sister's identity (because it's easier to get a leg up in the fashion industry as a woman than it is as a raging hetero like this guy... I'm just gonna leave that plot point alone for right now, maybe later in the yet to be created TCFC thread). At any rate, it was obvious that this was no flash in the pan role for this gentleman, he reminded me of the men my parents described when they saw La Cage in Vegas. I Googled him, Christopher Morley, and sure enough, I remembered him from Bachelor Party in another female impersonating role. I was surprised to see that he'd done the same in a recurring role as a bartender on GH in the classic Luke and Laura era. Do any of you guys remember him? OLTL did the same thing in the '90s with Wendy the bartender.

All My Children Tribute Thread
Ha! But yes, that's the "special" birthday to which I was alluding. We would have been classmates passing, "Did you tape All My Children yesterday? Richard Fields!!!!" notes in French class. The subject of soaps came up between a new co-worker/friend and I. She mentioned that growing up in the tri-state area, she had a lot of childhood actor friends appearing on Broadway, and one friend, Trish, who appeared on AMC for years. The name wasn't ringing a bell, then it hit me, Ellen's daughter, Devon. Small world.

Meredith was certainly the best, a woman with a solid news background and a great sense of humor. She brought a certain grace and intelligence to the show yet she was never afraid to have fun and look silly. By no means do I want her leaving her current gig, but someone who's got those same attributes is Hoda Kotb.

Paternity Court is much more entertaining trash and wins the timeslot for me. Over the past few weeks, I've given The View a try but I get so bored with it and I can hardly watch more than a few minutes. The show has grown too glossy, it's soulless. The male guest co-hosts are so flat and I'm always like, "Who the !@#$%^&*] is that? Am I supposed to know him?" Jenny is nice to look at, sitting there wearing her smart glasses, but she lacks spark. They are missing a key co-host personality. And it's hardly some strident conservative. Someone hilarious, smart, and a little loud, but without Joy's mugging or Rosie's easily hurt feelings and conspiracy theories.

Lord, I made the mistake of watching Monster's Ball with my mom. Lying on her bed. Halle and Billy Bob, anyone? Awk. Ward.

ALL: Soap Stars - Where are they now?
Yes, last I heard, she was still with Terrell Tilford. There's this show that comes on after Dallas about wives in Nashville. I caught the first couple of minutes and saw that Erika Page, my favorite character, Roseanne Delgado from OLTL is among the cast. She is of course married to country singer Bryan Adams.

ALL: They Almost Became
He passed away the following year. Mr. Bochner was the original C.C. Capwell, he filmed promo material which can be seen on YouTube, but he had a heart attack and had to pull out. Fellow Dynasty alum, Peter Mark Richman replaced him starting with the first episode. Of course Jed Allen would become the most famous C.C.

Unsung
It was called True Colors! Wow, haven't thought about that show in years. Like Roc, it was also set in Baltimore. Roc was a great show, remember those live episodes? CSD's then wife, Debbi Morgan was also great. Back to True Colors, I remember that Frankie Faison either quit or was fired and replaced with Cleavon Little. IIRC, Walker and Little both passed away shortly after the second season and the show folded.
