And suddenly I'm in the backseat of my mother's Mercury Cougar on my way home from elementary school. YES! Great point, I love that show too! And what a perfect title in terms of her "One Life" connection.

I love UnSung and my only "complaint" about it is that the episodes are only an hour long. I loved the Clark Sisters episode. What I didn't like (because I'm nosy), yet am able to appreciate, is that they didn't tell all their business. There was a lot left unsaid, or merely alluded to. I find Gospel music industry people and their gossip particularly interesting, especially because it is so damn scandalous. The Sylvester and Miki Howard episodes touched upon that and the issue of homosexuality in the black church. Millie Jackson is a riot. I was very sad after watching the Vesta and Teena episodes. Thank God for this show, the whole concept of it is particularly poignant when they profile someone just before they pass. They only do musicians, but Ellen Holly needs to be on this show.

  4. I have a couple of friends who knew CM from Brandeis. They didn't watch Knots so they never thought to ask her about the show, nor did she ever bring it up.
  5. I was telling Carl, I met Michele at a Manhattan Theatre Club gala years ago, and she felt very passionately about that speech. She hugged and kissed me for even bringing it up. Vee, I think Knots is your kind of show.
  6. Joan is really obsessed with playing those types of characters. One thing that always strikes me about her in interviews (besides the fact that she speaks in perfect soundbites that I've often heard more than once), is that she's always got her finger on the pulse of scripted series. In almost every interview, she's got an idea for some flashy/trashy character she'd love to play on one of the hot shows of the moment. I really hope she gets her chance to play one of her fantasy roles as a series regular.
  7. I know I'm not the only one seeing Cecily's un-bra'd Breastilys in that sweater.
  8. I thought the ladies looked great and I enjoyed the bit with their costumes. I was surprised that the hosts didn't mention Larry Hagman's passing. If I forget, someone remember to remind us all about the Pioneers of Television special on Tuesday.

Years ago, I was visitng my late ex-girlfriend in L.A., and she was on a serious Cher jag. She would play her "best of" album in the car and as a biracial person, I remember cutting up when she played the song "Half-breed". Later that week, we were driving to a restaurant and who should I see driving a vintage pickup truck??
  10. danfling, were you a OLTL fan too?
  11. Thank you for all that! If anything, they could have made Spencer kin to Travis and Jack. Never saw Margo, but Letchworth is in an episode of The Cosby Show (the auction episode where Clair buys her uncle's painting.)
  12. She was a Montgomery by marriage, so her husband would have had to have been related to Jack and Travis.
  13. Yes, and I believe it wasn't only in his sleep. Dorian added that Victor had some sick sexual appetites that she learned of while married to him. The implication was that she wasn't just talking pedophilia.
  14. Ha, good point. We can't buy abuse but we can buy Eterna. Yeah, re: Heaven, people said that was more fantasy and of course Victor would be in Heaven in Viki's reality. I guess fans can make what they want of that. You can even get really deep with it and say that Victor repented, confessed his sins, oh Lord...
  15. I think I tend to agree with MissLlanviewPA, I'd just rather fanwank and go with my own story (rather than having had RC make even more of a mess with it). However. If it can be readdressed masterfully under SBH, I'd be all over that. Mainly because Dorian and Viki at their best (imo) is when they are knee deep in dark family drama.
  16. Yeah, I think Viki and Roger were pretty in love in Eterna and Niki "helped her out" with the delivery. I may be wrong. I never saw that stuff, just read about it.
  17. I thought Niki emerged during labor then Victor had Viki hypnotized to forget the rest.
  18. Just wanted to ad that I Googled "The Saint" as I am fascinated/disturbed by '70s/'80s New York nightlife, and it led me to some really touching personal accounts of life in that era that were a joy to read. Thanks saynotoursoap.
  19. I thought Erica's remodel was too feminine to last as Adam's home for as long as it did. Just too pink and mauve a la Linden. I would kinda "Pffft! " when he would be on his girly French phone shouting at and threatening folks on the other end. OTOH, I thought his first house looked way too middle class. One thing about that first house, my mom said she called that Adam had a twin based on that Oriental statue. While I'm sure it was just a budget issue, I guess it's kind of cute to think that Adam didn't alter Erica's redecoration out of his affection for her. She left him with a wife-friendly home.
  20. CD looks sexy as hell in that ad. She never really did anything for me, but she looks all tawny and hot here.
  21. Oh wow, totally forgot about that ILC sketch. Future Mrs. Sephanopoulos, this was probably season 3. *Four, I just read.
  22. The ads I recall did indeed feauture Susan with her naturally curly hair all big and teased, sort of the wet look. For that era, I think that look better emphasized the use of product moreso than having her pose with demurely straightened hair. Oh gosh, flashback, remember Cher's infomercial with her heavyset blonde friend's products?
