  1. Does anybody remember WildChats, the guy in the baseball cap who used to make YouTube videos of himself singing '80s primetime soap themes with original lyrics he had written? Random soap-related memory.

      ReddFoxx

I remember him, he used to post on Sitcomsonline a lot. He's an actor, Mark Sinacori.

  2. I'm not minding Zach Slater as Ridge. Maybe because I don't really have an intimate relationship with B&B, I've only watched here and there over the years, and no disrespect to RM who I certainly think about upon every Ridge scene. But soap actors as a whole are the closest we get to a theatre rep company on TV, and I think this is an example of where a recast oddly and unexpectedly works.

This generation's answer to Carmen Duncan as Iris?

    2. Cat

      Cat

LOL, I donlt know how to answer that because I just adored Carmen Duncan!

Maybe it's too early to make a judgment call on TK, I can only say (as a long-time B&B viewer) that I like him as Ridge. But I was over RM as Ridge by 1993 so maybe I'm not the right person to judge. I do find TK a *relief* to watch because he is such a competent actor. I like his take on Ridge, too, it is very sympathetic and thoughtful. RM's Ridge was such a shouty drama bitch sometimes.

      Cat

The only criticism I would make is hair and wardrobe. I don't mind my Ridge craggy, but he should always look smooth and sophisticated. Hes a fox who looks women, no matter his age. Therefore: hair trimmed, fantastic suits, maybe a silk tie once in a while.

  3. I like to imagine that A Fifth of Beethoven is Judge Judy's theme song because that was her jam at the disco.

LOL! I imagine Lynn Toler getting down to some New Jack swing circa 1991.

Current imagining Judge Judy rollerskating to AFoB.

  4. Darrin Stevens is the most hatingest hater who ever hated. What a study in male chauvinism. Rewatching Bewitched in my thirties makes me want to write fanfic where I play the exquisite Samantha's secret jumpoff who loves her, appreciates her, and [[email protected]#$%^&*] her like she deserves.

He was annoying, but at least Endora was around to put him in his place.

  5. I would really enjoy a syndicated serial to watch around 5pm. Byron Allen produces two scripted judge shows that rely on non-union actors. I wish he would translate this shoestring budget model into a serial, and of course find himself some great writers, because while I appreciate the effort and the great casts, the writing for his two sitcoms suck. I get so frustrated when people have money, pkwer, and opportunity, but co

AMC and OLTL ideally, but I would be all over any cheap as [[email protected]#$%^&*] serial PP could manage to get on air in syndication. I don't even need M-F, I would settle for 30 minutes every Sunday like Nickelodeon's Fifteen. I know so many talented people, and I am hardly naive, so it's so frustrating for me that people aren't making such projects happen. Vee, I know a brain like yours could deliver.

I'm flattered, but my brain is not available. I have other things I made a priority.

Understandable, understood. I just hate that the potential is there, but criminally untapped. Without getting too personal, do you aspire to shop your own work as a writer, or are you content/most satisfied fleshing out the ideas of others? Not that I don't have my own imo great ideas, but I find that I'm pretty terrific as "creative consultant", improving upon the ideas of others.

  6. Fellow DMV residents, please tell me that you've seen the footage of Santa getting shot in the back with a pellet gun while handing out presents in Southeast this morning. I am certainly going to hell, I just can't.

  7. Every time you type "casted/recasted/broadcasted/simulcasted", a little black baby Agnes H. Christ Jesus dies. It's just "cast", in every tense.

  8. I kind of want the "colorful castses with stickers" little girl in the AT&T commercial to get her own reality show. Or at least a spot on a Tyler Perry sitcom.

    1. SFK

      SFK

Haha, you are too much... I also love the little girl talking about how she'd rather be a slow turtle so she won't get ran over faster.

  9. She's butt-ugly for all I know, but I have such a crush on the girl singing the new OLTL theme.

  10. Visually, The City has held up VERY well. Still a gorgeous show, even on crappy VHS. #nostalgiagoggles?

    1. SFK

      SFK

I'm working on it, but Eric's the one with the Tracy stuff. I think I have maybe one very poor quality clip of when she first meets the Soleitos.

    2. jfung79

      jfung79

I agree with you, SFK. Don't have tapes, but from the few clips on YouTube, I think The City holds up better with time than maybe it even seemed *at* the time. Not only visually, but also in concept and character. It is a soap for today, and its crime was that it was invented too early. Instead of Loving becoming The City, maybe it would have worked if One Life to Live had become The City twenty years later.

    3. DRW50

      DRW50

I think it's biggest crime was that it was largely unfocused and semi-plotless for too long.

  11. Dude on Maury told his girl to take a laxative as a morning after pill. I quit.

  12. Watching G.I. Joe, and one of the Joes "harmlessly" refers to someone as a "camel jockey". Another one calls an enemy a "dumb Russian bear". What flew in 1985.

  15. Did anyone catch Byron Allen's two new shows on the CW, The First Family and Mr. Box Office? I was juggling with these shows and FOX Sunday night and the Emmys. I REALLY wanted to like them, so many familiar faces and a look and feel like classic NBC Saturday night, but they need some SERIOUS doses of funny. Where the hell are all the good sitcom writers these days?

    1. SFK

      SFK

IKR? The late '80s/early '90s, I guess. I used to watch ones like Starting from Scratch (

      ) and What a Dummy (

  20. Cheap, AMS, did y'all watch Wiener's Cirlce? ;-D

    1. SFK

      SFK

Hardcore Pawn, ugh, I truly love that show but the set up situations bring me much third party embarrassment. My dad and I watch every week and we're getting a little antsy with the fakeness. The show also does NO favors for black people. Ashley and Les are much better actors than Seth, and the "guest stars".

    2. SFK

      SFK

AMS, Wiener's Circle is a group of sistas (and a brotha) who work a hotdog hole in the wall on the North side of Chicago. Most of their clientele is late night drunks so the staff entertains itself by making the customers do crazy [[email protected]#$%^&*] like duel with hotdogs in their mouth or strip. Some LOL moments, and the show is new enough at this point that the stars seem unaffected and pretty naturalistic even if the situations are set up.
