Another World Discussion Thread
I have heard a few different actors to tell this story, about someone unnamed working one day & not being able to hack it & just not coming back the second day. Erica Slezak tells about her father freaking out over the first days' work at OLTL & worrying he wouldn't be able to continue, but he did. And then when Joan Collins was working at GL as Alexandra she was amazed at the first days' work but she kept it to herself & just dug in determined to do as well as the regulars - and she did, too, and for 3 months! She said what we all know & that is that daytime works harder than anybody else.

Does anyone think Alex might become a popular character? It seems so unlikely!

DAYS OF OUR LIVES Moves to Peacock From NBC on September 12
I was just listening to Cady McClain on the Digest podcast & she was talking about working with Ray McDonnell & his dry wit & his having been in the business so long & how he could just break Micheal E. Knight up till he was doubled over in laughter at the drop of a pin, etc. and she segued from that into how much fantastic soap material is out there & wouldn't it be great to see a show from BITD! I think Cady is sharp as a tack. So, Stephanie said, you know we're still hoping that Peacock will take all of DAYS shows but there is one problem. Well, I practically leaned forward, ready to hear this, but what she said was that Season 2 is missing & that it was destroyed in a fire. So, I was amazed. I never heard that. Of course in the big picture the takeaway is that they have all but one early season!

GH: Classic Thread
I'm afraid what I want to say is going to sound offensive, so I will pre-apologize, but wouldn't that be better said, something like, When Angela Shapiro fired Wendy Riche, blah blah as you say after that edit. And, while I'm sticking my neck out, if anyone knows why Shapiro did that incredibly stupid thing, I'd love to hear it.

General Hospital: September 2022 Discussion Thread
I think KS has so many problems that fly in the face of parading your body on stage or on camera & certainly aren't getting any better that it would even do her a favor to be turned in a different direction for her life work. I realize it is that annoying armchair psychoanalysis at play but I can't believe she's happy. So I, too, say it's past time for a recast & several great names just flew by, grab some of them! I'd go for Stephanie Gatchet in a New York minute. One more time about KS, many people look at petite with substantial bosom & read that as matronly. I just think she needs to find people she trusts to do her hair every single day & to put her in great clothes & stop hiding in big boxy sweaters & slacks & she is clearly not doing that! As for Carolyn Hennessey I know I should hold hold politics & guns against her, but I can't help it, I just like Diane. And, I hate horror movies & Friday bugged me!

Killing Abigail was more like creating a problem than providing a solution! It just made no sense.

I never thought the timing particularly favored that story! Basically I was a 'the More McKinnons the merrier' kind of Bay City fan. I've been trying to remember when the wonderful dynamic between Vicky & Bridget started. Every instance I think of has Anne in the scene, not Rhonda. Someone on an Anne Heche F'ANNE board I'm on, today found a site with videos of Anne singing. They're great! Sometimes she has a true lilt to her voice & other times it's husky like a torch singer.

ARTICLE: Roark Critchlow Returns to ‘Days of our Lives’ As Dr. Mike Horton After 12-Year Absence
I did a poll on another message board 2 months ago on who is your favorite Mike Horton. MTW won by a landslide which I expected. Roark took most of the rest of the votes. And, Wesley Eure turned in a very poor showing. In discussion it became clear that most people had no idea who he was. But, the single most interesting thing came out in discussion & that was that by far most of the people strongly felt that Roark & Christie Clark SHOULD BE Mike & Carrie, period, the end.

I can't believe it's been 13 years. 9-18 I don't know if any of you have any interest in seeing costumes but I have some costumes up in my Instagram account (shallotpeel). Some AW doings: Halloween, some Jake & Vicky fantasies, some miscellaneous, the masked Lumina Ball and Jake & Vicky's November wedding at the Brooklyn Botannical Gardens. Rounding it out is GL's Time Travel storyline. It's somewhat interesting that some of those costumes came from England! @bboy875 Well, there was the KZ song & dance routine! If she went for as much as 2 days in a row on or even near the back burner, Kim registered her complaint & tried to enlist anyone she could get to speak up about how the show wasn't the same if they weren't seeing Reva, so she made it a self-fulfilling prophecy that fans complained if she wasn't out front! I do know that more than once people wanted Peter Simon back as Ed. The last time, before he actually did return for that tiny bit at the end, Ellen Wheeler was dying to get him back as part of a story she wanted to tell that involved Roger's son & Ed & Holly. They held off starting the Roger's son storyline hoping they could find some way to entice him back. They even got Courtney to go to bat for them, which was apparently one's last recourse. Eventually they went on with a revised Roger's son storyline, which began alright but sure turned into a stinker before they were done with it. Rightly they had cast very carefully & the actor they got to play Sebastian was very good but when he wanted to romance his prisoner Holly it was cringe-worthy. Ew. Shivers. Sorry to remind you. I may have to sing the theme from "Green Acres" to get that out of my head.

- RIP: In Memoriam Thread
I'm so sad. It helps to read your write-up & remember her in things. But, the thing I remember most fondly was the last movie Natalie Wood made, with Christopher Walken, and L. Fletcher was an anchor in that drama. I'm blank on the name but it will come to me later today. I am glad she was 88! I was too impatient to wait, thinking about it, so I looked it up. It was called "Brainstorm".- DAYS OF OUR LIVES Moves to Peacock From NBC on September 12

Huh? No. Not at all. what? Going from a time when I knew a great deal about how SOD ran, I questioned where was their balanced reporting? Everything was assigned so you'd have an equivalency of negatives and positives. It was militantly enforced. There could be any number of answers to my question. That doesn't keep it from being a valid damned question. And, there's nothing icky about asking it. Elsewhere, in totally different contexts, yes, I have used a slogan that taking advantage of the monthly bargain someone has computed that a show costs 8¢ and that that is not zero but it is as close as you are going to get. I stand by that. It's true, accurate, logical, even appealing. Bull. Read what I actually said. Now read what you claim I said. Guess what? You're wrong. What it is, is a bargain, which is what the promotion & the slogan are about. Again more Bull. I am very disappointed in these, your off base arguments. I did not make my argument in whatever way you're suggesting. I simply spoke about what I was seeing in the backlash online. And, that is clear. Believe me I have not said they should be stifled in any attempt they make to be heard. It just happens that information does not flow purely. It is manipulated, most especially in the interest of presenting balanced reporting. And, now that I have helped you make a mountain out of a molehill, I think we should both go soak our heads. - RIP: In Memoriam Thread
