  1. Easy @Vee, doesn't come for free (she's a real lady) Does this mean Spice Girls lied?
  2. Claire should've been Belle and this Belle should've never existed. The Tom Langan onslaught of teens in the late 90s/early 00s was such a mistake tbh.
  3. Next, the devil will do something truly evil. Like changing the places of the forks and spoons at a dinner party. How will Salem ever cope?
  4. Another factor that I think played a part in this is the fact that soaps doesn't really seem to do a lot of storylines based in generational conflicts anymore, which seemed to be the bread and butter of the 60s/70s. Maybe it's because of what someone said - the conflict between boomers and the generation before it was so big because of the differences in growing up while the following generations have mostly gone on to having more wealth and comfort. So the same conflict just doesn't exist in the same way it did in the 60s when it was literally ingrained in Alice's personality as opposed to some on-going storyline that was set to be resolved at one point.
  5. I think a lot of the harsher qualities of Alice's personality had were toned down as she became more and more of the wise grandmother type who'd only appear occasionally. If you read some of the older recaps - especially those from the 60s and 70s (but also sometimes in the 80s) Alice can come across as bordering on overbearing at times.
  6. She's such an immoral hussy that she steals doilies off grandma's table.
  7. I've been watching Dark Shadows for the past two years or so, and one of the things that's interesting is how they stage things. It's obvious that they spent a lot of the time thinking outside the box rather than inside it. Even if budget is an issue, they're also being lazy about it these days.
  8. "Relax, Big Daddy knows how to handle this ride!"
  9. I think Angela's hair was more or less what Jane Wyman felt comfortable in - even in the years after Falcon Crest she kept the same styling, albeit blonde/grey instead of the red.
  10. My first thought was that they're filming New Years already.
  11. It's from a channel that specialises in collecting old television footage on 16/35mm film so this episode might be rare. Look at the styling on Meg! You can really tell that she's the evil hoe sister.
  12. Yeah, that's where I'm at with DAYS at the moment. I might have to take a few weeks breaks from watching it (I have a lot of work coming up anyway) and hope it improves by summer.
  13. By all accounts most, if not all, of the run is available and frustratingly, they keep proving it by throwing these scraps at us.
  14. They were around 21-22 minutes, which I think is an alright length. I've started watching Dark Shadows during the pandemic and in all honestly, watching it when I'm eating breakfast/getting ready is perfect. If they ever do another attempt at a daily soap on streaming I think it's a good length - it all depends on what you do with the time really.
  15. Well the last episode is 56 minutes long - at around 41 minutes the screen goes to black and I'm pretty sure it was the original cliffhanger. The last 15 minutes wraps up the show in a nice bow. It's a shame it didn't catch on, but hey, if you want to watch a 10 episode prime time soap that isn't left with cliffhangers, it's on Hulu right now.
  16. She could also have a future vision of an aged Sami (played by Deidre Hall) telling her grandchildren what a wonderful person her mother was. And in the vision there's a visit from Belle, also played by Deidre. This all leads to a very dramatic moment where Marlena yells (passionately) I want to liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiveeeeeeeeeeeee!!!
  17. There was a drone filming around the apartment - Amanda tracked down who it belonged to and surprise, surprise, it belonged to Farnsworth "Dex" Dexter's nephew who had happened to film Adam arguing with Dr Larson on the balcony that night, putting him right at the top of the suspect list. Amanda delivered the footage to Alexis who told Adam that she wouldn't show it to the police if he signed over the company to her. He unwillingly signed the company over to Alexis, but claimed that Dr Larson fell off the balcony by accident. Alexis later revealed that the drone had actually filmed Dr Larson lunging at Adam and falling off the balcony by accident and of course when she showed it to the prosecutor, they had to set her free. Grateful to Dex for providing her with the footage that set her free, she agreed to go out on a date with him as he'd always had a crush on her since meeting her as a college student when his father sat on the Carrington boards. Alexis and Dex went Dubai in the previous episode, hence why they weren't in this one.
  18. I think me and @carolineg would enjoy this story very much, thank you. I can't wait to see Deidre's acting prowess in full force, saddling four roles if we include Hattie!
  19. Yes, I believe Angela had a throw-away mention that they got away. IIRC, they wanted the actress to appear in a few episodes of season 6 but the actress said no thanks.
  20. Not saying that Ron can't screw up on his own - because he certainly has during his current run on DAYS - but I feel it's more of a tip the scale thing. So far he hasn't really suffered from viewers turning off their sets in masses (or at least more than broadcast is suffering from it in general) because there's at least been some storylines viewers felt invested in and of course, I do think DAYS usually has talented break-down writers that try their hardest to make the day-to-day shows work. However, having someone encouraging his worst tendencies on the writing staff that's also been a bit of a fanboy of him back in the day... is not great news. It is of course still on Ron for not seeing that the SaRenee mess was a bad idea. I assume Ron has some influence who is on his writing staff is so if he's surrounding himself with sycophants that's on him.
  21. I'd argue that Ken Corday tends to panic if the network is unhappy with the ratings, however linear ratings are in the dumps for even prime time programming these days so that seems less of a worry (unless we're talking about them suddenly taking a dive under 1.5 million). I'm one of those who doesn't think Ron is the worst fit for DAYS, but he does need someone to divert his worse instincts (masks, SaRenee). The implication these days is that Giddens seems to be getting too much ear from Ron though and that seems like a recipe for a disaster and possibly Ron's undoing. The show is borderline unwatchable right now and usually the saving grace of DAYS is that their day-to-day scripts are better than the overall plotting. But even the talented break-down writers can save the current dreck.
  22. Hm, I wonder if they filmed an April 1st episode this year and if it's been nixed due to the Olympics?
