I'd assume so too - wouldn't surprise me if they threw in Dallas there too. Since they supposedly did clear the rights to Flamingo Road at the same time they did Falcon Crest and Knots Landing, I hope that pops up.

Knots Landing
I figured they'd either return to Falcon Crest or something else. Hopefully they'll put it up on demand sooner rather than later as it might be a few weeks if they're going to circle back to FC again too (assuming they don't show other shows too).

Knots Landing
That'd be a shame - hope it's only a mistake if they do and it comes up on demand later as it's a big episode; Abby's infamous smashing through the door and Anne's first appearance.

ALL: Proposed Soaps Over The Years
I don't think it's that odd that six episodes were written - obviously it came very close to an episode order, but I assume ABC balked at the last minute. Plus they had The Colby's coming at that point, which might've put another nail in the coffin for Midas Valley. Perhaps they had it as a back-up plan in case The Colby's didn't come together considering that show never filmed a proper pilot presentation.

DAYS: Head Writer Ron Carlivati Departing Peacock Soap After Seven Years
I think Paulina will at least stay on due to her marriage with Abe, plus I think the higher ups like having Jackée Harry on the show. So Chanel might stay on by default. Jada? She was essentially created because they like the idea of having a woman black cop after Sal Stowers' exited. I could see her go either way tbh.

They might jump back to Falcon Crest first.

Knots Landing
Perhaps, but I feel like the season six writers set him up to be redeemable. I mean, Lillimae was shown to have major issues with psychiatry, Val had gone full-on into split mode after the twins' "death" and now the son was starting to show major signs of being unstable. I think they might've ended up exploring what on earth was wrong with the Clemens' clan.

Knots Landing
Joshua had a death sentence on him once he started physically abusing Cathy. IIRC, he actually didn't cross that line in season six, so it was just another thing to make him as unlikeable as possible to make the audience be relieved that he was killed off.

ALL: Proposed Soaps Over The Years
Really interesting that they came as far as advertising it in a broadcast magazine - I guess buyers just didn't bite in order to make it go into syndication? I wonder how the pilot was since, as people has pointed out, Dark Shadows must've done impressive numbers for this to even go from an idea to pilot.

Day in Court
Tried finding something for Day in Court on Archive.org, unfortunately no episodes, but this promo is available: https://archive.org/details/1958-promo-for-day-in-court On YouTube too:

They supposedly did look into the rights of Flamingo Road around the time they looked into Falcon Crest and Knots Landing. It doesn't necessarily mean anything, but fingers crossed that at least it'll make it onto streaming.

Knots Landing
Music rights was never the problem btw. The reason seasons 3-14 were never released on DVD was because of the poor sales of seasons 1-2.

Yup, I mean, Love of Life season one anyone? https://watch.plex.tv/show/love-of-life/season/1

Knots Landing
I'm guessing they might be trying to have people subscribe to the live channel first before putting everything on demand. But hopefully it'll happen after the first run through, but who knows. Although, looking at it, Plex has a lot of pages for a lot of tv shows that aren't streaming so some might just be automated. A selection: One for Homefront: https://watch.plex.tv/show/homefront Also one for Flamingo Road: https://watch.plex.tv/show/flamingo-road Cane: https://watch.plex.tv/show/cane Berrenger's: https://watch.plex.tv/show/berrengers 2000 Malibu Road: https://watch.plex.tv/show/2000-malibu-road Yellow Rose: https://watch.plex.tv/show/the-yellow-rose Emerald Point NAS: https://watch.plex.tv/show/emerald-point-n-a-s And so on... I guess there's some shows that don't show up (like Freshman Dorm or Kings Crossing), but it makes me wonder how many of these will ever find its way there.

Tank Jobs and Sabotage
It was reported (with Nothing is Easy and Hard Copy) as going on hiatus and being replaced by movies on 25th February 1987. However, already on March 3rd it was confirmed it was going back to Mondays. So no, I don't think it was ever cancelled. It might've been if the ratings didn't improve, of course, but it was obvious that they were giving it another shot. Considering Nothing Is Easy and Hard Copy never got to return to the schedule were burnt off as brief fillers on Friday nights, I'd say they were already determined to try and make Designing Women work, but the "fans saved it story" always makes for a good press release.

Plus, I'd be willing to bet that at least a couple of these people will eventually step back once the show is properly launched and running smoothly. But obviously, being able to set up proper production schedules and control the budget will be important in making this show work and new people stepping into a show without any formula set would likely get out of control quickly.

LATEST RATINGS: August 5-9, 2024
It was the highest demo day for all soaps for whatever reason. I'm not sure if the weather was bad in an area or something to cause it.

Dynasty Discussion Thread
It's sort of interesting - it's from what I can gather a telenovela, so I assume the format must've made it play out somewhat differently. I remember a couple of videos being available on YouTube - from what I could gather some of it seemed directly ripped from OG Dynasty and some seemed more in line with CW Dynasty. A bizarre experiment either way - considering their "top-rated" episodes seem to be between 3.0-4.0 stars on IMDB I'm not sure it's worth the effort of tracking down.

Santa Barbara Discussion Thread
I can't fault Wright for feeling negatively about the show to be honest - it must be frustrating to get a shot at doing movies only to have that momentum taken out because of a restrictive contract. It was also hard to transition from television to doing movies back in the day and I'm sure she got a lot of frowned noses when the subject of coming from a soap come up. I agree with @Vee that it would've been inappropriate for her to show up at the reunion since it would become all about Robin Wright re-visiting her soap days. There's a time and place for her to talk about Santa Barbara but a cosy event like this is probably not one of them.

DAYS: Cady McClain back as Jennifer Horton Devereaux
Yeah, while I wish they would just bite the bullet and hire Cady full time, I think having Melissa back for Doug's funeral is appropriate. But since she doesn't want to commit to doing the show and Cady seems happy to do it... well, it feels like a no-brainer. There's far too few Hortons in Salem as it is.

Melrose Place
Here's an interesting thing - the first draft of 4.02 Melrose Is Like a Box of Chocolates (dated June 9th, 1995): https://dailyscript.com/scripts/melrose_place_melrose_is_like_a_box_of_chocolates.pdf My full run down of the script compared to the episode: TL;DR version: I guess the most interesting thing about the first script relates to Brooke - initially she was meant to reveal she had to take care of her terminally ill mother, hence why she reacted so badly towards having to take care of Alison. She also was supposed to point out to Billy if all she wanted was the money from her mother's will she would've married her ex-fiancé Lowell. Billy was also meant to go home and have sex with Brooke after seeing Alison naked, making her think that Billy had forgiven her. They also seemed to soften up Peter a bit - in the original version when Matt attacks Paul in the hospital cafeteria, Michael was supposed to ask for help in pulling them apart, and Peter was meant to comment "he's not my friend". Jack Wagner and Kristin Davis weren't listed among the main cast members, so I assume they hadn't signed contracts at this point as regulars.

Primetime Soaps
Poor Melissa Errico. She was the only female character killed off the show, and in the end it probably didn't matter since she was likely contracted for the season (and credited for all episodes, so she likely got paid) and the show was cancelled in the end.
