The soap opera writers' discussion
I am so glad that you posted this. I had been wondering if the Ralph Ellis who wrote soap operas was the same actor who had a role on Our Five Daughters. I did not know that Eugenie Hunt was a former actress. I think that Ralph Ellis and Eugenie Hunt did their best work on The Guiding Light. It is my understanding (although I may be corrected) that they wrote the Stanley Norris storyline. They also did very good work on As the World Turns. (The Stanley Norris story is my favorite murder plotline in the soap operas.)

Jennifer Harmon, after having played Cathy Craig #?, returned later to One Life to Live playing Victoria's attorney in divorce proceedings. I think that it was when Victoria and Clint were divorced.

Roy Shuman was one of the best! He may be possibly be remembered best for the public service announcement in which he is trying to find the right job for Abraham Lincoln. His lines were, "Without that diploma, you ain't going nowhere."

I remember that the cafeteria set was used during the episode that featured Judy Collins (as Judith Howard). It was also used on the final episodes.

Location of the studios
I was under the assumption that Our Five Daughters was also filmed in that studio and that Another World used some of its sets. Also, that Search for Tomorrow taped in the same studio (Screen Gems East 44th St ) after the cancellation of Edge of Night. I wonder where The Edge of Night was taped when it aired on CBS? I understand that it was a former movie studio.

As The World Turns Discussion Thread
Regarding Penny, Anton, and Amy: I am almost sure that Amy was introduced when Phoebe Dorin was playing Penny #2. When Rosemary Prinz played Penny #1, the fact that she could not be a natural mother was a significant part of the story and a huge part of the Penny character. One of the reasons (or perhaps the major reason), I feel, that she married Roy McGuire (Kasey Arnold) was that she would be a step-mother to Jimmy (the son of Roy and Sandy). When Amy returned later, she had adopted Amy, who was at least in her teen-aged years (possible a bit older). Amy wished to locate her blood relatives, and she found them: Mr. and Mrs. Parsons (played briefly by Augusta Dabney and William Prince). Mr. and Mrs. Parsons were the third role on As the World Turns for this couple. Earlier, they had played a couple (following their departure from Another World, I believe - or maybe before that show's premiere), Mr. and Mrs. Bill Holmes (I cannot recall the first name of the character played by Ms. Dabney at this moment), and Mr. and Mrs. Parsons.

Love of Life Discussion Thread
"Scottie" MacGregor (Love of Life) has passed away. Katherine "Scottie" MacGregor (born Dorlee Deane MacGregor; January 12, 1925 – November 13, 2018) was an American actress, best known for her role as Harriet Oleson in Little House on the Prairie. When MacGregor was a child, her mother moved the family to Fort Collins, Colorado, where they lived most of Katherine's early life. She graduated from Northwestern University with a major in drama and moved to New York in 1949. After arriving in New York, she was hired by the Arthur Murray Dance Studios in New York City as a dance instructor. She studied acting under N. Richard Nash, Sanford Meisner and Stella Adler. Beginning in the 1950s, as Scottie MacGregor, she worked in theatre on and off Broadway in New York and other states in plays such as The Seven Year Itch and Handful of Fire, and won such uncredited parts as "a longshoreman's mother" (On the Waterfront); "Alice Thorn" (The Traveling Executioner) and "Miss Boswell" (The Student Nurses). She appeared in numerous episodes of various television series: Love of Life (1956), The Secret Storm, The Nurses, Play of the Week (1959), East Side/West Side (1963), Mannix (1970–71), Emergency! (1972), Ironside (1972, 1974), and All in the Family (1973), as well as the two 1981 "Heroes vs. Villains" episodes of Family Feud hosted by Richard Dawson. She had roles in the TV movies, The Death of Me Yet (1971), The Girls of Huntington House (1973), and Tell Me Where It Hurts (1974). MacGregor's best known role from 1974-83 was in NBC's Little House on the Prairie as Harriet Oleson, a general store owner's wife and a comedic part.[5] MacGregor's favorite description of her character in Little House came in a fan letter from Minnesota in the 1970s, in which Mrs. Oleson was described as "the touch of pepper in the sweetness of the show". In 1979, thanks to the popularity of Little House in Spain, MacGregor was invited to Madrid, Spain and appeared on RTVE's 625 Lineas program. After Little House on the Prairie, she withdrew from screen productions in favor of local theater. She dedicated herself to the Hindu religion, and to teaching acting to children at the Wee Hollywood Vedanta Players, before finally retiring in the early 2000s. In 2014, she did an in-depth interview about her life and career for the book Prairie Memories by Patrick Loubatiere. Personal life[edit] She was married to actor Bert Remsen from 1949 to 1950 and to actor, director, and teacher Edward G. Kaye-Martin, 14 years her junior, from August 1969 to October 1970. MacGregor died on November 13, 2018 at the age of 93.

Radio Soap Opera Discussion
One of my favorite television producers was Luci Rittenberg Ferri, longtime producer of The Guiding Light. I am seeking any information that I can find about her. There is nothing printed about her anywhere that I have looked. I am wondering if, perhaps, she also produced radio soap operas?

I am sure that STAATS COTSWORTH appeared on Somerset. My memory is not perfect, but I believe that he played a physician who treated Missy Matthews (probably when she had drunk some un-pasteurized milk at the carnival.)

Soap Hoppers: The Soap Actors And Roles Thread
There has been a lot of discussion about Mrs. Yost on The Edge of Night and who played her. I remember Mrs. Yost, and she was played by the late Selma Diamond. I don't argue that Norma Connelly did not play the character as well, but I missed her episodes if she did. Also, I was about to add that Elizabeth Franz had played Wilma Marlow #2 on All My Children. However, I then realized that her look-alike (at least to me) Ruby Holbrook had played Wilma #2. Jo Henderson (who had created the role) later returned to it, and the actress who had said "It's not nice to fool with Mother Nature" played her in the end of the run.

Nearly all of the episode were cliff-hangers. I don't think that too many were self contained.
