  1. That's Teri Keane as the mother in the commercial. Who is the wife? She reminds me of Laurie Heinemann.
  2. also: Reuben Greene Ellen Tobie
  3. On A World Apart, he and Kathleen Maguire were, more or less, the patriarch and matriarch (despite the presence of Augusta Dabney and William Prince). They were very good, and the show was actually better than All My Children at the time. Both Mr. Noble and Ms. Maguire are now deceased. Ms. Maguire later played Anna Woleck Craig #2 on One Life to Live.
  4. Actor Darryl Wells (Tony) also had a role on As the World Turns in 1966. I suspect that he was intended as a leading man for Amanda Holmes (Deborah Solomon). He was also on The Nurses, but I suspect that was when The Nurses were seen on primetime CBS.
  5. Miss Dano said that she agreed to return to One Life to Live only if Gretel's name could be changed to Rae. (She said that it sounded "too grimm.") ABC had attempted to purchase Another World from Proctor and Gamble, but was denied. It then tried to get Procter and Gamble to move Another World to ABC's daytime line-up, but that was denied. It then tried to bring the character of Felicia Gallant to ABC, and that was denied. It then invited Ms. Dano to reprise the character of Gretel (with Adam).
  6. Dax, I also recall that Dorian had to vacate Llanview when she married Herb. There was a stipulation in Victor's will that gave her Llanview as long as she remained a widow. However, upon any new marriage, the property reverted to Victoria (and possibly Tony - I cannot remember if he was alive during this time). Does anyone know the whereabouts of actress Kathryn Breen, who created the role of Karen Woleck Woleck?
  7. One more thing: didn't Asa own the Cougers professional football team during the time that Alec Lownes and Doc Gilmore were playing on the team?
  8. I watched Search for Tomorrow in 1967 and 1968. I am very glad that it continued on NBC.
  9. Who are these: Stuart Blackburn, Kim Revill and Camille Marchetta? Well, you are these?
  10. Clint became the editor of the Banner. He was a reported up until the death of Joe Riley, Sr. The name of the newspaper that Dr. Dorian Callison owned was THE INTRUDER, not the Inquirer. And, Viki's subsiderary book publishing company bought all of the copies of Dr. Dorian Lord's auto-biography and kept them in a South American warehouse. (Maybe her company was the one that published Sloane Carpenter's Lord of the Banner.)
  11. Who was the father of the child of Patrice?
  12. Actor Daniel Pilon, (Max on Ryan's Hope) has passed away.
  13. Mr. Parker was bi-sexual. I think that both Mr. Jarrett and Mr. Brooks were heterosexual.
  14. I can understand why you suspected that it was Jennifer Harmon in the commercial. Both she and Betty Buckley are from the south. (Miss Harmon from New Orleans and Ms. Buckley from Houston, Texas.)
  15. I may be wrong, but this is what I seem to recall. Soaplovers is right, the original Jody had very little to do her last months. Most of her scenes were with Miles and, I guess, Preacher. Jody went away to college, and was not seen for a few weeks. Then, there were scenes at the school, and Kerry Emmerson was playing the role.
  16. Oddly enough, the first time that I ever watched All My Children (other than seeing an episode when I was on vacation) was the episode in which Mona received word that Eric was "dead," and all the characters were so worried about how hurt Erica was going to be. This was in October 1971.
  17. Ellen Holly's departure was bizarre to me. (Both she and Lillian Hayman were written off at the same time.) Producer Paul Rauch had been giving Ms. Holly a hard time, according to her autobiography. She says that he criticized her voice (the same voice that had been considered an asset to the actress and which had received many compliments throughout her career) and the way that she wore her hair (shoulder length). He would berate her in front of the other cast members. She engaged a voice coach and changed her hair style. (Oddly enough, the new hairstyle actually did become Ms. Holly and looked more like an assistant district attorney would probably look, so Mr. Rauch was somewhat correct in his vision.) Both of these actresses were original cast members of One Life to Live, and, as such, you can imagine that they would normally be treated with reverence. But Mr. Rauch kept the criticisms coming. Finally, he said (not in privacy, but within earshot of other performers) that Ms. Holly was just too much trouble and that he was not going to renew her contract. Ms. Holly missed an episode, and this was during a murder trial. Anthony Call as Ed stepped in and was the prosecutor that day. Ms. Holly tells in the autobiography that she was so upset that her role was ending that she became intoxicated and slept throughout the day that the episode was taped. She returned to the show, but, I noticed that she kept referring to Erica Slezak's character as "Victoria Riley" rather than "Victoria Buchanan" as the rest of the characters did. Ms. Hayman, I have heard numerous times, was leaving the studio one afternoon. She was told that her parking spot would be taken by another performer by an attendant because she had taped her final episode of One Life to Live. Ms. Hayman told him that was a mistake because her contract had months to go, but, upon checking with the show, learned that she was being written off. She contacted Agnes Nixon, who told Ms. Hayman that she (Ms. Nixon) no longer had any association with One Life to Live. (However, I do think that Ms. Nixon did contact the show to ask that Ms. Hayman not be written off.) She offered Lillian Hayman the role of Minnie on Loving. (Louise Stubbs had already auditioned for the role and was a front-runner, but she was not hired until Lillian Hayman made a decision about taking the role.) Ms. Hayman decined the role (and Louise Stubbs was cast) and eventually was said to have forgiven the show. (She was a very religious actress.) But, the odd thing to me is that there were scenes about their departures. How could that have happened had Ms. Hayman been told that she had already taped her final episode. The scene was in a restaurant. Carla and Sadie sat at a table, and Carla told her mama that she had been offered a position to move west (Arizona?) to take an position as a judge. She asked her mother if she would come with her and leave Llanview. Sadie decided to go, and as they got ut to leave, they spotted Dr. Dorian Callison. Carla spoke to Dorian, and that was the only goodbye that was made to any of the characters. I know that Paul Rauch and Robin Strasser did not like one another ever since their days on Another World. I wonder if the goodbye to Dorian may have been a warning to her that no one was beyond being written off. (Indeed, Dorian was sent to prison later, but the show had a great storyline about her incarsaration that involved Jamie and Elizabeth Sanders and introduced Allison Perkins to the show). The show could have easily written off Dorian at that point, but did not. It has often been said that Paul Rauch (who did some wonderful things for One Life to Live and did what executive producers are hired to do - bringing up the ratings) had little regard for the young characters and for the minority character. The characters of Lisa Barron and Dr. Joshua Hall had been written off the show, then Carla and Sadie were written off suddenly. The character of Ed was written off a few weeks (or months) later, although he did return to the show for a visit. Also, the young characters of Danny Woleck, Gulianna, Annie, and Ivan's young henchman were all written off, with only Joy O'Neill, Cassie Callison, and Rob Coronol being retained. (The new police role was played by actor John Amos.) The cult storyline was being introduced about this time (which led to the birth of Victoria's twins). I think that this was one of the best periods of One Life to Live, although I never cared for the actor playing Jon Russell. I actually think that the prison storyline was intended for the involvement of Josh and Carla, but the storyline was changed to involve Kate Sanders (Louise Sorrel) and Jamie Sanders (the late Mark Philpot). So, the answer to your question was that Carla left to become a judge. Her grandson was later introduced as a leading man for Rachel Gannon, but the role was not accepted and was written off the show.
  18. Also: Cec Linder Luke Riley Elizabeth Parrish Ronald Drake Kathy Kalmi Michael Minor
  19. Yes, I disliked both actors who played Dr. Jack Scott and Adam Brewster.
  20. He was on about six months, I believe. His contract was probably not renewed. He left town and was never heard of again. It was probably said about his plans when he left, but I do not remember what they were.
  21. Many people do not remember, but Susan purposely lost the first child that she was carrying. She did not want children, but Dan did. She jumped off a chair in order to miscarry. (This was a long time before the role was played by Marie Master.)
  22. The only character that I remember with Ed is the character that Felicia Rashad played. I cannot remember the character's name. That was around 1984. It did seem that he and Karen Woleck were getting chummy when they both lived at Ina Hopkins' boarding house. When Judith Light presented Mr. Freeman his Daytime Emmy award, she asked allowed, "Are we allowed to kiss now?"
  23. The first actor who played Willis was better than Leon Russom, in my opinion.
  24. Sela Ward's husband (Howard Sherman) is currently running for the Democratic nomination for the U. S. Senate in Mississippi. He lead the six candidates, and he will be in a Run-off Election next Tuesday.
