  1. Agree, it's a weird set. It looks like a hospital cafeteria. I thought it was just something cobbled together as a one off but we are seeing it regularly. I freeze framed the directory on the wall and it seems like it's supposed to be some sort of food plaza? The signage had cutesy labels like 'caffeine fix' 'dunn cooking' 'a place to wine' plus 'roof bar access' and parking. Still doesn't make sense.
  2. Glad to have a definitive date for Bobbi's debut. It would be fun to see Monty's GH taking place in the old hospital set. How long before the new set debuted?
  3. John Forsythe chalked up a long successful career in TV. Bachelor Father 57-62 that show started on CBS, moved to NBC and then finished on ABC .Did any other show appear on all 3 networks? John Forsythe Show 65-66 CBS. That show changed formats mid season from a sitcom to an espionage format! Has any other show had such a drastic revamp? To Rome With Love CBS 69-71 Supposedly set in Rome but filmed in Hollywood. Charlie's Angels ABC 1976-81. The easiest gig of his career, providing voiceovers that took a few hours each to record for each episode. Dynasty ABC 1981-89. That Powers That Be NBC 1992-93
  4. Another filler episode for recurring characters. They won't be able to show anything from the last 10 years or so, as they've had no story in that time. Are they going to call it a 20th anni? If so, Fen is way older than that, so he probably won't be shown.

  6. DON HASTINGS PORTIA FACES LIFE Unknown Role Don played Portia's son Dickie Blake , at least in 1947
  7. Back to Loni for a moment, she has the dubious honor of starring in 4 remakes of classic movies and taking on roles immortalized by Hollywood's classic stars. A Letter to Three Wives 1985 remake of 1948 original. Played the role of Lora Mae -Linda Darnell in the original Too Good to be True 1988 remake of Leave Her to Heaven 1945. Plated Ellen, originally Gene Tierney. Sorry Wrong Number 1989 remake of 1948 original. Played Madeleine, originally Leona played by Miss Barbara Stanwyck. Coins in the Fountain. Loose remake of Three Coins in the Fountain 1954. Same premise but different plot/charcters.
  8. @dc11786 Wasn't Kathy around at that time or had she finally left earlier? she could definitely have plaayed a part in all of this. But Search seemed determined to ignore the rich past and focus on new characters/stories. Look where that got them...
  9. Andy Griffith Andy Griffith Show 1960-68 Headmaster 1970 revamped midseason as The New Andy Griffith Show 1971 Adams of Eagle Lake 1975 only 2 episodes aired Salvage 1 1979 The Yeagers 1980 Matlock 1986-95 So 2 hits that bookended a number of misses.
  10. Way back when I was working, I taped Y&R and then watched each night ff through the ads so only about 45 min needed. Occasionally dipped into other shows but kept up via SOD. Now I access Y&R and BTG through other methods and watch more sporadically. Not every day or a specific time. Too many other things to watch, books to read etc
  11. Taping so far ahead, and with the unexpected pre-emptions , how did they time these episodes to fit in with the Thanksgiving holiday? MVJ said she had no idea that the show was going to be pre-empted so did the adjust things after that so things were in sync?
  12. I wonder if Scott's apartment (I'm assuming that where this took place) always had those large glass sliding doors or we suddenly saw a different aspect of the set to accommodate the stunt?
  13. The poster Edwin Sanchez explains that this ad may have not presented what was actually seen on screen in the episode. He suggests it was actually shown in slow motion w/o any sound. That would probably been more effective.
  14. I think Nancy set a record by having 2 failed sitcoms in the same season. Nancy, Redd Foxx, Rob Reiner, Harvey Korman- ABC raided the opposition to try and weaken their shows. John Amos was the first lead in the Maude revamp sitcom known first as Onward and Upward and then Mr Dugan. Amos departed early on and Cleavon Little took over. The show was scheduled to debut March 79 but there were objections about the depiction of the lead character and it was cancelled at the last minute. It was revamped again as Hangin In starring Bill Macy and aired for 4 episodes August 79. Apparently the scripts for all versions , going back to the original Maude concept was pretty much the same as was the supporting cast.
  15. OK...finally that much talked about scene. Why would she turn and walk straight into a glass door? The safety standards in Henderson must have been poor at the time. Teeny little Jennifer should have bounced off it.
  16. Richard Hatch played the stalker of Connie Selleca.
  17. Ellen Parker taking over from Ellen Dolan as Maureen on GL.
  18. Doug Marland talks about the Kelly/Morgan storyline He is referring to the sexual involvement of Kelly and Morgan who fall in love and have sex though Morgan is seventeen and they are not married. About censorship, sometimes I'll argue violently against it. We had a big problem last year with the first Morgan-Kelly sex scene. They certainly got very uptight and weren't going to let it happen. Codes and Practices said they were not going to let them go to bed together. There is a year and a half story down the drain. Their feeling was that, since my projection had them marry a year and so many months later, wasn't I really saying to teenage girls—-17 or 18-year-old, girls--that if you have sex with this boy it means a happy ending? They marry a year from now ?No ,that's not what I am saying at all. There is a lot of interim story where she suffers a great deal. What I'm telling is that you can be physically ready for sex at a lot telling of ages for but the are you ready for it emotional responsibilities that go along with a sexual relationship? I said the moral of the story was she was not. She is going to go through a lot--she is not going to marry Kelly a year from now because she had sex with him this year. To me, there is a moral point view and a very good lesson for a lot of teenagers. They need to know that along with physical satisfaction goes an emotional responsibility and you have to be ready for it.
  19. It would have been interesting had they stuck around into the 60's and survived.
  20. It might have worked better had Betty's TV character been a Waltons type mom so there would have been a contrast b/w the angelic character she played and the bitchy off screen persona.
  21. Agree. She went from Little Miss Innocent to Lucrezia Borgia and now everything is shown from that angle. I'm surprised there isn't a skull and crossbones on the jar's label. 27 sets was the number bandied around , which seemed a lot but on a day to day basis for the format it's not quite enough. Although on a quick count I couldn't get to that number.
  22. I'm interpreting this thread as focussing more on recasts that had to replace popular performers, and thus had to prove themselves rather than just taking the place of actors who hadn't made much of an impression or proven to very popular with viewers. eg Michael O'Leary as Rick on GL replaced Phil McGregor but Phil hadn't made much of an impression in the role and that was why he was replaced in the first place.
  23. Ted & Shanice trapped together...mmm...maybe a Leslie/Ted/Shanice triangle is in the offing. With Nicole distracted by the Greg V character.
