  1. My guess is that Vernon will get involved with the Impaler's operation to get Anita help. As perfect as they are together there needs to be some sort of friction between them and Vernon doing something illegal and immoral to help her would be a good angle.
  2. Trisha no doubt takes liberties in how she portrays the character, but the writing itself is still shaky. Leslie makes some airheaded, pointless moves for a schemer. Also, they had her committ serious crimes and yet they also have her running around as a Bonnie Lockhart type of comedic antagonist and the two don't blend.
  3. I watched a bit of the omnibus of older episodes on BET and some of the first week really did have telenovela vibes. As for Wednesday's episode, the scene with Bill and Anita was quiite in depth. Anita doesn't give the vibes of treating him like a son like Vernon did, but she was sympathetic to his background. Leslie going head to head with Vernon would be so much stronger if the stakes were more than a tacky house.
  4. VIvica hit one of the generic 80s dances in that video. The kind that you do when you wanted to show you have rhythm, but don't need to do too much.
  5. Leslie and Derek's constant back and forth gives vibes that they might end up sleeping together. Nothing says soap like characters who are at each other's throats sleeping together. Monica can match Leslie without letting her push her buttons like so many other characters do.
  6. Brooke keeps saying "Logan" is her name as if it's not her family surname. I agree with this and I'm very impressed with how both are playing this material.
  7. Leslie's insanity is so random and unnecessary today. On a side note it seems like she might be trying to intentionally ruin Eva's relationship with Izaiah because she is unhappy with her own life, but who knows if that's what direction the writers are going for. I am so over Nicole and her games with Carlton and Kial. Pick one or leave both of them alone. The dream sequence was nicely done and was a reminder that something big needs to happen on the show right now. Not necessarily a death, but we are lacking movement and culmination of even partial story elements.
  8. I never knew he was on a soap opera. Soaps have definitely been a good training ground for future film talent.
  9. That makes three former soap actors who have won in a lead category (Kathy Bates and Julianne Moore are the others).
  10. I feel like that was intentional though. Vanessa was supposed to be at a disadvantage in that moment.
  11. Deanna completely eviscerated Vanessa and it was well deserved. The fact that Vanessa just now realized how little she knows about Joey goes to show how stupid she is.
  12. There wasn't anything remotely Tyler Perry about today's episode. Mona is nothing like the church ladies in Tyler Perry shows and plays because they are actually holy rollers while Mona is a jealous hypocrite who is angry that she can't have Randy for herself. With the show being about reflecting Black culture some reference to religion was bound to show up, but it's nothing like Tyler Perry production.
  13. Mona is using the Lord for carnal reasons, full stop. The church lady vibe was gone and the jealous woman attitude replaced. Madea would have told her "what the hell is wrong with you hitting that man like that? you ain't worried about bringing to the Lord, you is worried about bringing him to your bed!".
  14. It's now clear why Mona was such good friends with Leslie. They both seem to stake a claim to men who are not involved with them. Deanna's brief interaction with Leslie makes me wonder if she will end up in Leslie's orbit at some point. Leslie wouldn't certainly love to weaponize Vanessa's own daughter against her.
  15. Another poster on here said awhile back that Lindstrom would be appealing to a 70 something woman like MVJ and that is exactly how the writing is coming off. All writers have their favorites or their muses, but sometimes that can get to be too much and you need to leave your personal taste off the page if you're going to write believable stories.
