  1. There is a fee that has to be if the celebrity is chosen, but there is a nomination and selection process by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. Anyone nominated has to be in the entertainment field and Trump managed to get one from being on television. Reality stars have been told outright that they do not qualify for the walk, but Trump managed to get one probably because he was a producer for the Apprentice and that could qualify as a form of creativity. He likely knew people on the nominating committee (which is supposed to be kept super secret to prevent lobbying).
  2. Why would Netanyahu be afraid of Trump? Perhaps Trump has some information from Russia that could be damaging to him. The tariffs have done nothing to stave off a recession and the areas that will be hardest by one are areas that voted for Trump (in part because of tariffs already harming farmers). Trump would make a recession worse.
  3. Right-wingers always portray Hillary Clinton and her husband as these super villains, but if that were really true she'd be in the White House right now because she would have used some unethical means to get there like Trump did. With that said Epstein was taken off of suicide watch and he was in federal custody which means that Trump's Department of Justice was in charge of that call. Somebody wanted Epstein to off himself and knew that he would do it.
  4. Don't know if anyone else remembers this, but DHS early in the Obama Administration had warned against right-wing extremism, but was criticized by conservatives. It's really interesting that some conservatives thought this report was directed at them when it was specifically talking about radicalization and not regular conservatism.
  5. The Black Panthers were why gun control was pushed in California when Reagan was Governor. If they made a comeback and were armed there would be some conservatives changing their tune on gun control.
  6. Two incidents of white men gunning down people of color. Hate has been legitimized and escalated to the point of violence.
  7. This shouldn't be commonplace, but it has become that way. The only way to get some decent gun control into place is for non-voters to start voting. These polls of all adults always show more liberal numbers on issues, but polls of voters are less liberal. There is room to change business as usual, we just need to engage more people. This is literally a fight for our lives.
  8. The surefire way to deal with those sort of attacks is to call them trash and leave it at that.
  9. That will leave Republicans with zero black members in the House (which is pretty much where they usually are). Hurd would have had a challenging campaign at re-election, so it's understandable why he is retiring.
  10. He has his base but there is only so far they can get him and he can't win with them alone. There were a number of people who didn't turn up in 2016, but turned up in 2018 for the midterm elections. He's gained rural counties with population decline for Republicans, but has caused heavily losses in suburban counties. With that said, he won mostly because Comey wrote that letter and reopened the email issue for a lot of voters.
  11. He continues to ruin his chances for re-election nearly every day. He was elected on plurality of around 77k votes and for that to happen again would be like lightning striking twice. The best way to respond to him is to say "November 3rd, 2020, bitch".
  12. I saw that photo on Twitter a couple of weeks ago and someone was calling it "A Different World" reunion, but that really was not accurate since those two were not on the show at the same time.
  13. My aunt who was born here (my family has been here since at least the 1700s courtesy of the slave trade) called me the week before and was asking me what to do if ICE came to the door. I can understand why people who are undoubtedly citizens are afraid. There is no telling what ICE will do.
  14. It's not surprising that the workers aren't being paid enough. The strong organization that he has built up couldn't possibly be sustainable without underpaying staffers. He's really not as pro-people as he portrays.
  15. Some of this anti-vaccine people are crazy and scary. Melania Trump's immigration as well as that of her parents is quite sketchy. A proper investigation would turn up some deceitful tricks and maneuvers that Trump pulled to get them here.
  16. A lot of these progressives are going to hurt Ocasio-Cortez more than help her. She might hurt herself by constantly going for sound bites and being involved in primary challenges if she isn't focusing enough on her district. From the start it seemed as if she would be a one termer and I think that might still be in the cards.
  17. Jeb Bush out here trying to sneaky lay curses. Not a fan of Trump at all, but this is just disturbing and inappropriate.

  19. One Life to Live - Between Heaven and Hell
  20. It's like that show was almost prophetic in a way, because Julia did once call Donald Trump on the phone and gave him a piece of her mind. Then there was how Julia ran for office against a right-wing extremist. She is definitely a force to be reckoned with and is one of the people if not the main person that Trump is concerned about running against. Someone so corrupt isn't going to do well in debates against a prosecutor who is used to cutting down absurd arguments. One of the stations in Los Angeles had a panel of undecided voters watch the debate and their opinion was that Biden came off as overconfident, too comfortable and like he had already won the nomination.
  21. Marianne Williamson is in the race to sell books. Being an author who was featured by Oprah is a far more comfortable life than being President, but running will boost your sales and in turn keep your bank account full. With that said her answer about race was on the mark, because people truly do not want to acknowledge race issues in the US.
  22. There won't be any debates. He has one challenger in former Massachusetts Governor William Weld, but that's a low key challenge that won't go anywhere.
  23. Busing was what showed how much racism or at minimum prejudice existed in cities. In the San Fernando Valley an anti-busing conservative managed to win a congressional seat back in 1980 even though it as a mostly Democratic district (granted Reagan's huge win helped). The displays of opposition to busing were quite ugly and were bipartisan.
  24. Harris did what she needed to do in order to stand out and be a real contender. Mentioning that Biden was against busing and that she was bused was a critical moment that can get her the attention of black voters.
  25. I think Eric Trump made up a story about being spat on. The restaurant says that they didn't see the incident and there are no witnesses saying that it occurs. The Secret Service detained someone, but they could have done that based just on caution because he claimed someone spat on him. If it is truly I think he provoked the incident by trying to touch the woman or making an inappropriate comment. He isn't pressing charges which is surprising for someone from such a vindictive family.
