But the state polls do not indicate that the election is close. The overall trend shows that any gains that Romney made after the first debate have long dissipated. Yes, there has been the usual "tightening," but it is clear that the President is poised for another overwhelming victory in the electoral college. As for Nate, I think that he has more defenders than attackers. I read an interview with him that said that his contract with the NY Times is nearly done and it did not sound like he was planning to re-up with them. I hope that he finds other ways to make money and becomes an independent political analyst again.

I don't think that the election is remotely close, particularly in the electoral college.

The one thing this election has shown is that Politico is a fraud, mostly it is stenography. It offers nothing interesting or original. Instead it steals and summarizes the hard work of relevant reporters.

Bloomberg endorses Obama. Another rat off that sinking ship. First, Pawlenty, now Christie and Bloomberg using Sandy as safe passage off. http://www.nytimes.com/2012/11/02/nyregion/bloomberg-endorses-obama-saying-hurricane-sandy-affected-decision.html?hp

Christie is no fool. He is knows that it is over for Romney. Christie is positioning himself for reelection as governor next year and a presidential run in 2016.

I see that the mainstream media's narrative about Romney "momentum" is finally receding as the attacks on Nate Silver have been beaten back and none of the media want to be wrong on election day. I saw Jeb complaining the President blames his brother. Totally made me laugh. His brother and father will go down as two of the worse presidents. They both marched the country into horrible recessions by insisting on their wrong headed policies and 9/11 happened on his brother's watch. You just know that corrupt Jeb will be running for president in four years time. He and his friends plundered the retirement fund of Florida state employers trying to bail out their friend Ken Lay and Enron causing millions of losses.

Again, not too long ago the Republicans were ranting that the polls were a Democratic conspiracy so when they become such fervent believers in polls all of a sudden? LOL! November 6th cannot come soon enough.

Frankly, I completely reject your premise here. If all you and others see are victims that you are ignoring the weight of history and the strength and courage of the African American community and other groups have been marginalized over the years. Historically, voter suppression laws and tactics were aimed at African Americans AND women (white and black) so these groups refusing to be victims with their allies fought back against violence, rape, and cruelty until Jim Crow, the poll tax, reading test, etc. were defeated. Now Republican's voter suppression laws and tactics are aimed at Hispanics and African Americans. Again, these groups are not sitting still and accepting the victim role or being targets of the racism of some powerful white Americans. By pointing out this racism with the support of their media allies, engaging in court battles, and speaking up and embarrassing Clearwater Channel and its allies to take down anonymous voter suppression billboards, these groups are proclaiming to our society and the world that they refuse to be victims and let their votes be stolen. If you do not see the power in this, maybe it is because you have never been powerless.

I am looking forward to the Daryl/Merle reunion. Will Daryl have to kill Merle for the good of the group? Will Merle sacrifice himself to save Daryl? It will be good.

I did not think that this episode was close to good as the first two, but clearly it was devoted to introducing us to the sociopathic governor who will be this season's big bad. At least, Michonne remains suspicious. I am glad that Andrea does not know where the rest of the group is, they are safer. The previews promise a really exciting next episode.I cannot wait.

You got that right. Those SOBs do not just care about black voters, they are DAMN obsessed with them (and Latino voters). It is their obsession that made the Republicans spend ALL that time and money going all the way to the Supreme Court to reduce early voting hours or create the voter fraud myth to restrict voter id or put up voter intimidation billboards in minority neighborhoods or send white poll watchers in to minority neighborhoods to intimidate voters. The comments by Sununu and his ilk are ways to sow fear of the "violent angry black person" taking over the country. One thing this election has made clear and that is that the Republicans and some other whites remain in shock and disbelief that a black man was elected President and that it will happen again. This is exactly the reason for all these comments along with the "liberal guilt" accusations that have been flung around.

The NY Times gave the President a well written and thorough endorsement. In case, anyone is truly undecided and has not made a final decision about who to vote for, here is the link: http://www.nytimes.com/2012/10/28/opinion/sunday/barack-obama-for-president.html?_r=1&pagewanted=all

I forgotten that. This makes Sununu's comment about someone needing to teach the President how to be American even more outrageous. Palin must now be willing to accept people calling her kid, "retard" throughout his life. I did not even know that Gray Davis was still around. I thought that he had been banished in complete disgrace from all Democratic circles.

The Politics Thread
Ha, Sununu could never make the Republican ticket. He is of Palestinian and Lebanese descent. He is an Arab-American although I would be surprised if he sees himself as one. I bet his fellow Republicans do and we all know what right wing conservatives call Arabs behind close doors.

I just watched Powell's endorsement of Obama. I don't know that it was have any weight, but it was devastating to Romney and not just on foreign policy, although Powell's distaste for Romney's neoconservative advisers who lied to start the Iraq war was on full display. Powell said that debate Romney said things that were not consistent with is previous statements that he had not given enough to his foreign policy. What makes you think that Romney is left of the mainstream Republican party? Seriously, how do you know what Romney believes in, stands for, or will do under any given situation?

The drug addict is probably the most dangerous of the two. If all the drug addict had were his prison friends, then he no longer has an anchor. In contrast, after finding out that everything was gone, the other prisoner immediately asked for a cell phone to his wife and children and expressed concern about them which made me think that he could grow to care about the others in the group.

If you ever thought that Republicans were not immoral and could sink any lower: http://www.nytimes.c...key-states.html The Democrats need to create videos about Romney and polygamous family.

LOL! So true. The Republicans crying, "what happened to hope and change" are hypocrites with absolutely no shame and need to shut the hell up. They openly tried to destroy the President's agenda and by extension the country so he would have only have one term. My only hope is that the President has learnt his lesson from their refusal to compromise. In his second term, I want to see him put a beat down on them that they will never forget.

In retrospect, you are right that triangle was biased towards Frankie, but at the time, I was caught up in the drama. I always remember the scene where Kathleen makes this heavy breakfast with eggs, etc. for Cass and he can't eat it, instead opting for the fruit. Kathleen is perplexed and in that moment, you can see how Cass had changed under Frankie's influence and that is when i was convinced that he would eventually go back to Frankie. Too bad the AW episodes were taken down, I was also enjoying Dean and Jenna, one of favorite teen soap couples if all time. I wish someone would put up videos on Matt and Donna's romance as there are only a couple on YT. I loved them as well.

Not surprising, but they will threaten anyone who tries to shine a light on their voter suppression tactics.

Can I say how much I LOVE that we are getting UN election monitors. Forty-four are not enough though, a couple thousand would be better. However, they will nicely supplement the AFL-CIO's team of lawyers and the Advancement Project and Election Protection Coalition's poll watchers in monitoring the vote intimidators. Thanks for posting the link to the article.

I saw Obama is finally distributing his plan for the next four years. He waits for two weeks before the election? Ridiculous. Republicans, rape and abortion strike again: http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/the-fix/wp/2012/10/23/mourdock-god-intended-for-babies-to-result-from-rape/?hpid=z2 If God intended pregnancy from rape to happen, then women whose uteruses prevent a pregnancy from a legitimate rape are defying the will of God. Taking the next stop in this illogical thinking would lead to the argument that God wants rape to happen, maybe rape should not be illegal.

I am not surprised that Romney is asking his supporters to vote early. He is already in trouble in Iowa because of the heavy early voting by democrats and he has to win Iowa because is he behind in Ohio. No double Romney wants to bank those votes rather than waiting for in person voting on Nov. 6th. I am actually thinking about signing up to take people to the polls, but it will be difficult to do. Andrea Mitchell is definitely a republican. She is married the horrible Alan Greenpan, another Aryn Rand fan, who led our country into a horrific recession although Clinton has to answer for reappointing him head of the Federal Reserve.

Clearly, this narrative is to convince the Obama voters that there is no point in voting. I don't think that anyone determined to vote in swing state will be swayed. However, this is only one of the Republicans' strategies. They have other voter suppression tactics like misprinting ballots, misinformation on billboards, voter intimidation on anonymous billboards, cutting early voting (e.g. Florida), and sending out those losers to intimidate people at the polls.
