I have seen talk of, perhaps, the Ohio governor calling in the National Guard to head off the Trump trash, i.e. Proud Boys and other freaks terrorizing the immigrant community there. Unsure if it's just talk/rumor, but I think it should be done. These freaks are poisoning the community.

The alternative is to let Putin overtake Ukraine - and, God forbid, if Trump gets back into the White House - advance even further. Putin has already poisoned OUR government. So appeasement is not an option here.

On another note as it is after midnight on the east coast... I cannot fathom it will be 23 years as of 8:46 a.m. since the most horrible attack on US soil. May the victims of 9/11 continue to rest in eternal peace. YouTube has a mega-episode uploaded taken from the heartbreaking, brilliant documentary, "9/11: One Day In America" to watch (if some here do not have Disney Plus/Hulu for the whole 6 parts). As awful as it is, it's also worth the watch. By the way, one of the men interviewed, Ron Clifford, an Irish-American that lost his sister and niece as they were on the plane that hit the South Tower, and the same man that helped victim Jennieann Mefeo before she, too, would die weeks later, has - from what I read - died himself last December. I can only hope he was reunited with them and all other 9/11 victims.

For Brit Hume to admit the obvious, I'm surprised the rage didn't make him self combust. To think he was once somewhat respected when he worked at ABC News decades ago. Faux Noise ruins everyone and everything.

Even I, a worrier by nature, have to side with @Vee here. Trump is getting roasted, toasted, sliced, and diced. And TwitX is clearly impressed by the prosecutor annihilating the felon. Hell, even some TRUMP supporters are asking what the hell Trump is saying...

You know Dump is wishing it was still Joe Biden standing across from him. (And *I* know Joe was sick, and his mind is fine. But the optics helped Dump the last time.) Donnie is losing his sheet, and I love it. And he never answered about vetoing a national abortion ban.

Just saw a video from Marc Elias that Amendment 3, the abortion referendum in Missouri is BACK on the ballot because the Missouri Supreme Court struck down the prior ruling. Get this, the judge that ruled for the initiative to be tossed is the cousin of late monster Rush Limbaugh. Here's an article about the reinstatement: https://www.stlpr.org/government-politics-issues/2024-09-10/missouri-supreme-court-abortion-legalization-amendment-3-november-ballot

Looking back...Primetime Ratings from the 80's
I'd forgotten Hunter had started out on Friday nights. Looking it up, the premiere was actually on a Tuesday, September 18, 1984. My 12th birthday! I read it was getting clobbered by Dallas and was close to getting the axe, but Stephen Cannell or someone else connected to the show gave Brandon Tartikoff a sneak preview of the two-part episode, "The Snow Queen" (which featured the two Dennis actors of the era, Franz and Farina!), and he was convinced to instead put the show on hiatus until another slot could be tried. That obviously became Saturday nights at 10:00 p.m. ET, it grew, and the rest was history. Cheers, when it first started, also didn't do great but was given time to grow. Too bad the networks don't really have the time or patience to do that anymore.

RIP: In Memoriam Thread
Watching a young James Earl Jones recite the alphabet on Sesame Street (from 1978!) is an experience! Click on the video and give a listen. ETA: One of the responses says this was actually from 1969. So...whichever year, it's still awesome!

Okay. Even at 93, I was not expecting this. This one hurts. Rest well to a wonderful, legendary (it gets thrown around, but he was!) actor with one of the most distinctive voices in cinema history. 💔 That voice MADE Darth Vader.

Hi, @slick jones! The work you put into this is INSANE, so I feel bad about pointing out a typo, but I also thought you'd want to know, for David McLean, under this marriage I quoted, the bold should read 1995. Thanks so much for all of this!

I know all about Nate Silver being owned by Peter Thiel. He was also pushed out of 538 AND fired by ABC News. That all said, I just pray to God, even as biased as he is and as trashy as he is, that Silver is not a canary in a coalmine. I hope Simon Rosenberg, Tom Bonier, and Christopher Bouzy's confidence is on target. I WANT all of these polls to be correct! But then I think of 2016 and Hillary and all the polls crowing about a big win, and my stomach will remain in a knot until Kamala Harris is OFFICIALLY announced as President-Elect of the US. Call it PTSD. But the press is sanewashing Dump and is in the tank for him, and the right doesn't seem to care that he's losing his marbles. So, long story short, this is all nice, but I won't trust it until it bears fruit come election night.

WaPo is circling the drain, too. Its editorial board had an Op-Ed yesterday ostensibly comparing the candidates - but mainly picking apart Kamala Harris for being vague with not ONE mention of TRUMP's lack of policies. It got over 10K responses and caused many within to actually cancel their subscriptions. Myself included. Yet the media wonders why Dems are turning to alternative methods to get their message out.

GH: Former Actor Returning After Eight Year Absence!
The thing is, I'm not sure that's in the offing. (I know this post is also likely just speculating, to be clear!) Jonathan Jackson left last time because the promised reunion between Lucky/Liz never materialized. I'm assuming (so, yeah, could be wrong!) this was something that was promised - or at least a promise to explore - if he came back again. So, if there is a triangle? Seems - if that theory holds any water - the winner is already known. Which begs the question of what the plans ARE for Ric. (Or, yes, Lucky, assuming the above theory no longer holds.)

So, Megyn Kelly, irrelevant harridan desperate for the limelight, has apparently been interviewing men that claimed to have "served with" Tim Walz, calling him a "military impersonator", whatever that is. Of course, the right is eating it up. But this crap has been debunked again and again. Makes me wonder if these guys were promised something or whatever.

The right's latest effort to smear Harris/Walz? Jeff Walz, Tim Walz's brother, who allegedly supports Trump. Because no other family has one of those. (Hi, RFK, Jr.!) /s
