  1. I have déjà vu on this. Years ago, probably back like 600 pages in this thread lol I recall someone (maybe vetsoapfan themselves?) mentioning that Bruce was just never mentioned again, and it was simply assumed/speculated by the SOC writer either Bruce and Meta had separated or Bruce had passed on at some point. it reminds me of Penny and Edith Hughes ATWT profile of Penny’s 2000 return of her name dropping long lost Hughes relatives and their current whereabouts when in reality that never happened lol. 😂
  2. I wonder about that myself but it seems to happen often on Irma’s soap that one of the core original family members would get discarded and forgotten about. Here on GL we have Trudy, ATWT had Edith Hughes, and AW had Janet Matthews. Trudy could and should have been brought back at any point in time. Heck Johnny and Lacey could have easily been Trudy’s children.
  3. I actually did like the whole setup that Billy, Jack, and Diane did. Definitely kudos to JT, PB, and SW because for stepping up because the faked GCAC confrontation was actually well done and very believable enough to be some juicy drama when I’m reality it was all just for show. Jack and Diane marrying on Y&R in 2023 was never ever on my bingo card but you know what I’m satisfied with this result. In hindsight the show never should have let Diane go and I’m glad the wedding did make some reference to 80’s and 90’s Jack & Diane in spite of the flashbacks being of the past year.
  4. Damn, I so wanted to see Liam get sucked out to sea or fall off a cliff into the sea via Sheila offing him (that would redeem her for me lol) 🤣🤣🤣🤣
  5. Much appreciated @DRW50!!!!! Thanks for sharing! One thing I just admire/adore is how GL and it’s set always looks so well polished compared to the other early 50’s soaps. Obviously it was a well running machine made even more successful with being on TV. The Kathy scenes were just so fascinating to watch…was that a young James Lipton as Dick? The Papa/Bill/Bert scenes just hold up well. Meta’s son Joey, whatever happened to him? Seems he got lost in the shuffle at some point which is disappointing.
  6. Okay with Liam now just outright blabbering like the idiot he is can we just skip to Friday’s episode to
  7. Wow this is appalling, disgusting to read…how is Alarr still even employed? Combine that with Ron Carlivati’s toxic writing, no wonder the show keeps sinking. I’m glad Deadline covered this well though given the soap press is almost nonexistent these days. And where is Corday on this? Ken was always front and center doing damage control during the debacles of Langan, JER 2.0, Sheffer, Thomas/McPherson, and Josh Griffith tenures I wonder if he’s just stopped caring and just tired of trying anymore. Old Ken would’ve fired Alarr and solely placed the blame of bad quality on Alarr while also sharing his latest plan to save Days to the soap press. https://www.thewrap.com/lisa-rinna-director-albert-alarr-misconduct-allegations/
  8. Yeah I have seen the same rumor in a number of places now as Liam’s demise would also facilitate JMW’s upcoming maternity leave. It does in a sense with Kelly’s premonition, the insta-divorce, and Steffy resisting the urge to go down memory lane. I wouldn’t believe anything until I see it happen, but I think even if Liam does appear to “die” I think it would only be temporary, in the same fashion as Finn, Li, and Sheila last year. Really all three Spencer men need to go as their time is pretty much over. Time to bring on Logan Knight and Dino Forrester so they can fight over their new love interest when Deacon’s son Eric comes back to LA 😁
  9. Well said. I remember I couldn’t stand Molly for a couple years there until she was paired up with Jake, although I did like Molly with Andy. Although I also liked Andy and Nikki but that happened as Jordana Brewster’s time was winding down. When it came to diversity the biggest. disappointment came with hiring Monti Sharp with lots of hype but then turning Lew into a giant creep. Yikes. But Peter Parros was always good as Ben always underrated. Idk, stuff like bombing a boat on Nancy’s 80th birthday, Tom & Emily affair, Kirk and Sam literally disappearing, and drunk Lisa upset over John & Carly on Thanksgiving all just left a bad taste in my mouth. I might need to rewatch 1998 again myself. Odd to say but with Y&R, B&B, and GL all experiencing a resurgence there 1997-98 ATWT was definitely seen as the sick man/odd man out of CBS Daytime for a couple years there. Strange as I noticed Don’s absence when trying to determine an exact timeline for Paul Stewart. There’s also quite a gap between Don & Lisa and Don’s involvement with Joyce. It could be an earlier case of Y&R’s Greg Foster, a character who was just there for years before finally getting a love story.
  10. Agreed on all points. Originally Chase was supposed to end to die but somehow Foxworth was convinced to remain one more season. The original intent was to have Chase turn into a bitter villain who failed anger management classes, but someone else thought that went too far so they threw in the whole pregnancy wrench. They easily could have had Richard and Maggie have grief sex over Terry’s death if they wanted a Who’s The Daddy plot. I guess the whole thing was to make Chase so detestable he wouldn’t be missed. Very difficult and hard to watch, they should have just stuck with the plan to kill Chase off. One other strange plot inconsistency is who exactly is Dan Fixx’s mother lol. In Season 1 there’s a paralyzed woman who Angela is a benefactor because she hit her while speeding and blamed it on Jason or something and feels indebted to. Apparently Dan maybe her son, but it’s never clear at all other than the story Angela tells Peter is very similar to that of the woman back in Season 1.
  11. Walsh, along with Demorest and Brez were hired to clean up after Stern & Black. They appeared to be on track but then went off the rails with the ending of Who Shot Diego? and bringing James Stenbeck back. The trio were brought back again later in ‘97 to clean up after Klein’s bizarre brief stint, but their return also went off the rails again. Problem was FMB never really grasped what the show was all about, and Walsh would remain co-HW once Lorraine Broderick was brought on board. 1998 was an uneven mess, probably the best umbrella story being Carly’s pregnancy deadline, which was fun for the most part. Otherwise Molly, Julia, and Lily in danger ate the show up alive.
  12. Ha ha ha I remember Richard asking Melissa if he looked like a dangerous man as he drank milk. If I recall the girlfriend‘s name was Lorie and I feel like the character was actually played by a couple different actresses. I can’t remember when Melissa turned sour for Angela, but it seems to occur with Angela learning Joseph’s true paternity.
  13. I’m about halfway through with Skyler’s “suicide” and it’s definitely a high octane action-packed thrill ride, made even better with Mark Snow’s electrifying and atmospheric score. Definitely a major improvement over Season 5 and even the latter half of Season 4. There’s also especially lot of fun with the dry humor and countless memorable zingers from Angela, Richard. Lance, Melissa and Emma in each episode. Highlights for me are Lance/Melissa redux, Tony’s return, Richard’s problems with Erin Jones along with Meredith’s revenge, and the whole Kit Marlowe/Skyler caper (although why does Kim Novak (and Robert Stack) have a 10 year old son lol?) which is fun along with Angela/Peter drama. Also Angela’s assistant for the season Mrs. Whittaker is a hoot. A mixed reaction for me is Emma’s storyline. It seemed like she gained some strength following Dwayne’s death and coping well but the stuff with Great Karlotti is just so hokey and Emma getting used again is getting old. Disappointing that the show let both Julia and Cole go without trying to salvage or keep them. The first few episodes were nice as it felt like the show was whole with the original characters again. Lowlights for me are definitely are Chase and Maggie’s material breakup and Dan and Vickie. The whole Jeff Wainwright thing dragged out too long, and Chase & Maggie’s breakup is frustrating mainly because Chase is a total ass (intentionally so by the writers and Foxworth as I now understand) and there is also zero communication between them. Dan and Vickie work on paper, but the casting is just flat and generic. “Bad girl” Vickie is just another wannabe 80’s cool chick and Dan morphs into a generic Cole replacement. I forgot Eric Stavros was on this show for a long time which is odd to me because all he is at least for Seasons 5 & 6 is just another Lance clone before his descent into madness and villainy in S7.

  15. Finally Audra and Summer get to go toe to toe and exchange barbs. A bit on the tame side but fun nonetheless, especially Summer’s line about cheap perfume. Hopefully we’ll get some more. And yes I am starting to notice the plethora of flashbacks in each episode now. I mean yesterday’s 2012 flashbacks of Christine & Phyllis were understandable, but today’s show have flashbacks from this week’s previous episodes reminds me of JER’s Days/Passions era 😅
  16. Miami Vice was really a flash in the pan wasn’t it? Even when NBC moved it back to the 10 PM timeslot for the 87-88 season the show just lost all its momentum and popularity and even ranked a spot behind Falcon Crest for that season overall.
  17. Yep it actually looks like those Chancellor mansion scenes LOL….I guess it wouldn’t be so bad if that ever happened if we could get HT back for the Ryan & Cole scenes (sort of like Days swapping between ED and Haiduk for certain scenes a couple years back). Cole should’ve been brought back years ago tbh. I never watched AMC at time but I have read a number of times that apparently Peck and AH had good chemistry when their characters were paired up. That usually doesn’t translate well on Y&R (hello MAB era!) but did leave me intrigued.
  18. No going to lie I thought about you immediately as I saw that RJ scene in wondering if you were watching it 😅 But yeah the divorce is so unrealistic and rushed so very very unrealistically fast lol. But hey I’m all for Hope dumping that dolt Liam. Haha I couldn’t remember where that started at as it has always bugged me a lot as a plot device to trigger a breakup or a divorce. 1996 was such a messy year for the show I recall that story was slapped together fast and loose as both KKL and HT almost quit the show.
  19. @FrenchFan Thank you so much for the 1968 synopses, much appreciated it here!!!
  20. I have to disagree to some extent but Chris Engen was correct IMO and the character of Adam has never recovered. Josh Griffith himself has gone too far on characters going overboard unnecessarily before. Remember what happened to Chase on Days? Afterward the actor who played Chase complained about it and some folks on this board trashed the actor for his disgust and not JG for making a once sweet character an irredeemable rapist. So I have a bad feeling about this now and Audra will probably be gone by year’s end.
  21. @kalbir Thanks for sharing those ads. I find it funny that CBS still used the intended Season 9 logo in their promos when then show had reverted back to the S6-S8 logo allegedly following viewer backlash. That 1989 episode was actually Emma’s farewell episode while the 1990 episode was when that husband who was basically a Chase clone just like his wife was a Maggie clone blew himself up with a bomb just because he was jealous/depressed. I find it odd CBS did move the show to Thursday nights for the final few episodes especially if they had decided to cancel the series. Would have made more sense to end the show in it’s natural time-slot instead of against new colossal hits Twin Peaks ABC and Wings on NBC. “When’s the last time you’ve been to Dallas?” made me laugh. I’m a lot kinder to the post dream 1986-91 years the most as that’s the period of Dallas I first remember watching regularly as my parents watched the show to the bitter end on Friday nights in retrospect the 89-90 season was the worst season for the whole show IMO. I myself have moved onto to rewatching Season 6 of Falcon Crest, I’ll share my thoughts in a separate post.
  22. With JMW’s upcoming maternity leave I’ve seen two rumors that
  23. Wow that is disturbing (but given it was NBC not entirely surprising) to read about the NBC wiping The Doctors tapes in the early 80’s. I wonder if that inspired the live episode in the movie Tootsie. What’s more I find interesting NBC blamed the producers for the collapsing ratings and not themselves for shuffling The Doctors around from one bad time slot to the next.
  24. Hahaha I forgot about that spoiler. I feel like with JG now running the entire show and probably even more with the writers strike he forgot about them as a couple and then suddenly remembered “oh yeah I was suppose to pair them together”. I doubt them having sex will amount to anything.
